Ordered my weekly grocery delivery from waitrose at the beginning of the week. I received the 15 minute "warning text" from the delivery driver, however he never showed up. An hour after the delivery window was over I contacted customer support, who told me the driver attended, yet no one was present at the location and he would come back after his deliveries were done. I was definitely present, so was my husband and our dog, but we agreed. However, no one showed up and we received no further information. 2 hours after that, we contacted customer service again, and were told that the manager of this branch would call us as soon as possible. We received a call, from someone who was not the manager, since the manager went home by the time we were called. One would think that whoever was the manager would be kind enough to deal with this, but apparently it is up to the staff members. I don't blame the staff members, however the customer service and management team were horrendous. I am sure the staff member on the phone did whatever she could.
We were informed that the delivery driver apparently called, knocked on the front door and rang the door bell. Which is funny, since no missed calls were recorded on my phone, my husband was sitting on the steps and I was in view of the living room window which overlooks the driveway. Neither of us or the dog ever saw or noticed any delivery driver even driving past our house.
If we would have been informed of the missing delivery and the fact that we would not receive it, we could have made other arrangements, however since we were given the runaround for hours after the delivery window was over we were in quite a pickle for dinner. First they promised that we would receive it, then we heard nothing, and then we were told we couldn't get it, and the manager didn't even deem to speak to us about it.
Furthermore, no obvious steps were taken to redeem the situation, make it up to us or properly apologise.
