We were very fortunate for Eco Star's service, as we also called another HVAC company and didn't hear from them. Since it was a last minute service request and it was during the holidays, their rate is $195+tax - compared to their normal rate of $95+tax for the initial inspection. UHAC was the only company that reached out within an hour in the evening and promised to have someone out the next day. Person arrived and assessed the issue. We were given a quote for new AC and furnace. We had several other companies come by to give us an estimate as well. The owner of the company John took the time to take our call on a week night. He walked us through why we should choose them and based on all their previous reviews we felt a lot more secure in getting our ac and furnace from them. They are an established and reputable company and as I said earlier the only one to answer quickly so you know that if anything goes wrong they will be the ones that will show up. They do a pre install survey and let you know if there is anything you need to do. They follow all covid protocols. On the day that they came to do install which was literally a week later (other companies were quoting a month down the line), they had everything installed, with minimum disruption. They finished earlier than the expected day and compared to the old unit they did an amazing job with the new pipes and just how they put it all together. They made sure that everything was taken care of showed us the ins and outs at the end. We had some questions following the install and they were amazing with responding to any concerns we had and always answered so quickly and made you feel like you were a priority. Thoroughly enjoyed working with this company, and at the end of the day the whole process was painless and efficient. I can't give it any more praise than I already have but definitely the people to call if you need heating or ac!

In July 2025 I had For Saving Home Service come to check a " not cooling" problem with my condo…read moreheat /AC unit. The technician came out for a "maintenance" call. He said that the freon was low and recharged it for an additional fee . This did not solve the problem. It still would run but not cool. Their office called and did not offer to come out and recheck but advised it was not repairable and I needed to replace the unit for $8000+. I had another firm come out to evaluate the problem. They found that when they removed and examined the chassis there was about a quarter inch layer of dirt built up on the outside coil. This was cleaned and the unit was rechecked. The unit is not very old and I was advised that there was no problem with leaking coolant and no other problems were observed. The unit is now operating normally. Why the maintenance did not resolve this the first time I don't know. The technician for "For Saving" was pleasant but presumably under qualified. Competence, integrity and honesty are obviously in question with this firm in this case. Sadly very disappointing....

Max visited my apartment to assess what type of a/c was needed, the placement and the electrical issues involved. He explained the breakdown of costs and the installation.  When he left, I felt he had answered all my questions and was aware of my concerns. Two men arrived on time and took just a little over 3 hours to install my ductless a/c (they also had to install the electrical outlet and connect the outlet to my electrical box).  Before they left, they made sure I tested the unit, and knew how to care and clean it during winter and summer.  They also made sure all installation debris was removed in my apartment and the path to their van. I was so impressed with their service that I recommended them to a friend in my building (he recommended them to two other friends).

Although their employees are knowledgeable and courteous (especially Mike), their annual maintenance fee is higher than that of other companies. Recently, my furnace stopped working after the warranty period ended. A code flashed which indicated a problem with the pressure switch. I told this to the woman who answered the phone. She couldn't tell me how much it would cost or when someone would call back to book an appointment. A couple of hours later, a man called back but couldn't schedule the repair until the next day. I was freezing! I repeated what the furnace code indicated. He wouldn't give me an estimate either. I also told him there was a tear in the bypass duct and asked that the repairman bring a replacement with him. He didn't because this info was never passed on. I was told I would have to pay for a separate service call if I wanted a new bypass duct. That's not fair or a good way to do business. The cost of the replacement part and labour was $525 + HST. I appreciate that he was able to replace the part in 15 minutes. But after he left I found the part sells for $285 which means I paid $240 plus HST for 15 minutes of labour. He was nice but said the price included his diagnostic work. Give me a break! I had already diagnosed the problem using the flashing error code and google! The bottom line is that they know what they are doing but their fees for repair and maintenance are too high.

That would be like cutting through a TV to get to the wall. They basically shrugged when I confronted them about it. Said it wasn't their problem. Went with these guys cause the price was right and the reviews were good. Price ended up being higher than I was originally quoted (couldn't find the parts needed so they had to go with a more expensive unit) and will now cost me ALOT more to fix the damage they caused. Go with a different company.
