I contacted a plumber I had used a few times in the past but they were booked solid until the end of June. I had a bad leak from both drains on the kitchen sink. Mike was punctual and my questions were answered quickly and professionally. I needed a plumber immediately due to ongoing water damage from the leaks. Urgently needed someone to repair mom's bathroom leak, clogged drain & replace faucet. Had no idea how to find good plumber who would not rip me off too badly. Friend suggested Jiffy or Homestars. I checked them out and saw they had horrendous ratings! So I just started contacting various companies. Only 2, out of the many asked, would venture to give even just a rough quote over the phone. This is totally bogus imo since they know full well roughly how much they charge per type of job since they already did it so many times, be it drain clearing; part replacement; whatever. Only one HONEST enough to quote me was Mike The Plumber 4 U. So I asked him late on a Thursday, can you come next day? He said yes! ETA 12pm-3:30pm. Then I ran off to Canadian Tire & Home Depot, buying 2 of everything in case needed. Turns out only 1 of the packages got opened, the other 3 I was able to return. (Wish Mike would have told me over the phone that I did not have to buy a separate pop-up assembly since i was already gonna buy a new faucet, but no biggie, just more to return) Mike didn't arrive till closer to 3:30pm, which was fine with me, I had a lot of other work to do. Mike was super friendly, respectful, competent & professional. He got the job done fairly quickly, considering the huge blockage (all hair) & severe corrosion which made removal of the old assembly challenging. He let me watch everything he did & even encouraged me about stuff I could do on my own. Mike cleaned up, explained what he did & charged me the lower end of the phone quote, making me very happy. He explained the 90 day work guarantee plus pointed out future problems I could have (i.e., p-trap only 2-5yrs of life left in it before will start leaking). It was my very first time of using Mike the Plumber 4 U to replace my Delta shower faucet cartridge. I was trying to do it myself, but the cartridge was very stubbornly stuck after a long time of wiggling. So I finally caved in to call for help. I was so lucky to have Fullerton for the service call. He came in within the promised time slot. He was so knowledgeable and helpful to replace the cartridge on the spot. He even made sure he had done the cleanup in the work area before he left. 2020, Sewer drain unblocked, emergency call. They showed up not too long after the estimated time. Said they could not snake from outside, something stopping the snake didn't wan to damage the pipe. Needed to extend the snake and unblock from cellar drain which they were able to do. Additional cost for greater length of line serviced. Total came close to $400. Removing the snake from the line and taking it outside they took no care to avoid dripping the contaminated water through the house, and they could have wrapped it in a tarp. Sloppy there, but they did know the basic job and were ok to deal with. The technician did imply that I can call the city to check and clear the street side of the line in case the problem is over there , I know that's just a 311 call. read more

Hi I called Mike the plumber to get an estimate of a small plumbing job where I got all the parts. He expected to be paid $300 an hour he said like a lawyer when I had told him that I had purchased all the parts. So for most likely a 1 hour job he said the standard price was $500 and tax. So basically he wanted to rob me was rude to me. I didn't know that his apprenticeship cost as much as it cost to be a layer for schooling and that he had as much general knowledge but that was how he justified his cost. read more

For those of us who are not handy enough comes a dreaded time when something in the place you call home breaks down. Its a toss up whether to brave the repair yourself or bite the bullet and pay the exorbitant charges to have something done by a professional. I had a leaky faucet that I tried to fix after watching numerous youtube videos and reading articles. I was confident I would be able to do this as I had changed a faucet before but this one was impossible. The space was very limited and I couldn't fit underneath the sink to dislodge the faucet. So after a quite a few tries I finally took the plunge and starting calling various places to get a quote to have a faucet changed. The prices vary a lot in a the city most of the people won't give you a fix quote and many say they need to see the job before committing. Surprisingly yelp didn't help much as there were a few places reviewed here. Nevertheless after trying for a few days with various other business I got a quick response by email from Mike the plumber 4 u and I called in and got a fix quote. It was reasonable compared to others so I went for it. Booking was breeze and I was given a half hour window for the plumber to show up. The plumber arrived on time and immediately started working (a good sign if you ask me as I have seen people just roam around and waste time if they charge by the hour) However he couldn't dislodge the faucet too and had to take out the whole sink. Before proceeding I was given a fix quote for this additional work as well so I knew how much I would end up paying. An hour and half later I had new clean running faucet. I found their quote more flexible (in a good way) than other plumbers. A lot of plumbers charge a flat $250 to snake a drain, but these guys will charge lower. If the job turns into something bigger, you'll pay more, but that's life. The technician I got was a fellow named Anthony and he snaked the pipe with a powerful auger and fixed the problem quickly. I called this company 11:30 in the morning for a quote. I was told that someone will be by within two hours max. I left the my cell phone number and asked for a call at least 15 min. before arrival as I do not live at the property. At 3:30 p.m I get the call to my home number from the plumber saying that he is two minutes away. At this point my afternoon is busy with other commitments so I asked to reschedule for the next morning. I got flat out no. When I asked what that meant I got another single no. Oops I offended MR. PLUMBER. What a faux pas. This company may have good reviews but customer service leaves a lot to be desired. read more

Woke up to frozen pipes, both hot and cold. Took the usual action to thaw them but it didn't work. Called Mike the Plumber and didn't expect them to come soon since the news was full of people with frozen pipes. They said they would come between one and three and a half hours. The fellow on the phone quoted me the base price without tax of $260. Anthony and Terrance, two super polite guys, arrived in one and a half hours. They laid down a tarp on our rugs and hooked up the pipe heater machine they brought (puts a current on the pipe to heat it up). But because the pipes were on two floors they couldn't get the section they wanted very well. So, they headed out and got more cabling and were back in 30 minutes. It took about 15 minutes and the water was all running again. There was an extra charge due to longer cabling and additional time. The guys were apologetic about this but it was expected and understandable. I would recommend these guys... ask for Anthony and/or Terrance. read more

I am writing to provide a very positive review of my experience with Mike the Plumber 4 U today. I called around 9am this morning to schedule some minor work (dripping shower faucet) that I had been putting off. I knew it was just a cartridge that needed to be replaced, but the set screw was corroded and everything I could find online suggested that the likely fix was to break off the handle and replace it. Not wanting to get into a big mess, I called and was very pleasantly surprised to hear that they could get someone in by 12:30pm the same day. Right on time, Fullerton showed up and was extremely courteous and conscientious. He very quickly completed the job (he literally ran from room to room and out to his truck for parts - literally), wrapped everything up in less than an hour, cleaned up everything he touched, frequently asked if I had any questions and seemed very eager to ensure that I was satisfied with the experience. A month after writing my initial review, the plumber showed up at my door on a Sunday afternoon to dispute it. DO NOT show up to my house on my only day off this week to ruin my afternoon by arguing with my boyfriend over the quality of work and trying to bully us into upgrading the review. I had to do over an hour of cleaning after this clown left, buy a new bucket because my old one was vile, and my boyfriend had to tighten the screws on the leaking pipes. I called Mike today as our pipes froze and broke and the basement was flooding. It was family day - a holiday. The first place I called said they would charge $500.00 just to attend and then charge for services depending on what they found. I called Mike having found his service on the internet. He was polite- arrived quickly - his initial fee to attend was $189 and he remained for two hours and fixed everything. He also cleaned everything up.
