Three piece meal (two thighs and a leg) with mashed potatoes
    Jacqueline T.

Everyone talks about this fried chicken. It took me forever to try it, but we finally had it this week. It's probably not the best choice as far as social distancing goes. I thought I would beat the crowds at 4, but it was crowded. It's a small space with a lot of people crowded in it. We got three piece meals (a leg and two thighs). One we got a side of mashed potatoes and the other tater wedges. We got a mix of spicy and non-spicy. The chicken was delicious. Get the spicy. It's not really spicy, just has seasoning. The non-spicy was good as well, but not quite as good. The sides weren't that memorable. The mashed potatoes were pretty good. The tater wedges weren't good. The rolls weren't good. Skip Price's and come here for fried chicken.

So we're in town driving around from bar to bar as usual and Mr Mathews suggests we get some breakfast! What a great idea! Inside the Quick Shoppe is a hot box full of all things breakfasty, and lunchy, and kinda dinnery too but it's 8:30am and that means sausage, egg and cheese sandwich on toast! not a biscuit, not a croissant or an english muffin or brioche, it's toasted bread. two slices. mustards and mayos. $2.50 each when you by two. plus $2.00 hash browns for the boss. I've always been a fan of gas-n-grubs so I'm good here. yeah it's kind of a train wreck getting in/out/food but it's 2-for-$5 breakfast sandwiches so deal with it. BTW: rumor has it the chickens are as good as any and I don't doubt it, if I don't get a real job soon I'll let you know ;-)

The chicken was horrible. If you think this good chicken, that means you are use to eating chicken out the trash can. I had spicy and regular. Threw the whole 8 piece away.

Yep just came for the fried chicken

The sign on the window says best fried chicken in town and I would have to agree. This isn't your typical QT, Sheetz, Wawa or even 7-11 where you know they sell food, driving past here you wouldn't give it even a thought that they sold food. Well they do! And it's good. Definitely some of the best fried chicken that I have had in Charlotte. The spicy chicken is the best but all of the chicken is seasoned very well. The chicken gets 5 stars but overall it's about a 3.5 star experience but it's a gas station so expectations aren't too high on the service. It's not bad serve just dry like you get in and get out.

Best fried chicken in CLT! Make sure to get it spicy. It's not Nashville chicken hot, but it is seasoned really well. #nicetrypopeyes

Chicken seemed like it sat out for awhile because it was dry. The onion rings were stale but the Mac and cheese was AWESOME. They were out of mash pot :( just wish we had better experience because I get excited when gas stations have a good rep for food. Maybe we caught it on a bad day but consistency is the key to restaurants

One of the WORST places to get gas!!! The setup is horrible. Between coming in and trying to get out it's a huge cluster f:"@&. Really not surprised that there aren't accidents happening here. Being that they serve "the best voted" fried chicken in Charlotte, people usually park at the pumps to go inside and order food. There is usually only one cashier working at a time and if it's two of them, they still move extremely slow. To their credit, they have the best old school candy on this side of town(chick-o-stick) and it's clean!!!

Let me be clear this is a gas station. That being said it very well may be thr best fried chicken in Charlotte. The spicy fried chicken was super tasty plenty of flavor and was nice amd crispy. Perfect choice for National Fried Chicken day. For just north of 7 bucks i got 3 piece chicken with 1 side. The side was the famous wedges. In my opnion they were just ok. Too large and have had better. The mac and cheese would've been a better choice. It comes with a roll as well which conpletes it. Plenty of optilons and can opt for a bucket if you prefer. They are super fast as it is already prepared. My tip would get there early so that you get fresh. We got there around 11 i think. After getting your food you then take it to the cashier. If you are here during busy times parking could be a challenge.

People going up to the store in the store being closed when hours are open!

Completely unprofessional close the store down for over 30 minutes before shift change made me and my family wait to get items from at the store and you can visibly see people standing around talking and joking is completely ridiculous..

That gas station fried chicken game. Shell on East Blvd.

I'm going to preface this by saying, when it comes to fried chicken, I'm an equal opportunist. Fast food vs home cooked...KFC, Price's, Popeye's...I'll eat it all. Spicy, regular, crispy skin, give me all of it. That being said, when I read the numerous reviews about the supposed "best fried chicken in Charlotte" coming from a gas station less than a mile from my place, I made it a priority to spend my next weekday off lunching here. Aka, I snuck out of work early to eat a 10:45 am lunch...no shame, no shame. I got the dark meat (my jam), spicy drumstick meal with a side of mac&cheese and green beans, because vegetables, y'know? Couple of packets of hot sauce and I was all set to go eat in the privacy of my own house where I could lick my grease covered fingers free of judgment. The fried chicken was salty, skin was crisp but kind of slid off the meat in a sad way that left me wanting more crunch to it. That being said, I still ate it and the every single piece of dark meat on the bone. The mac and cheese was delicious, the green beans...meh. The final verdict? No one will have to twist my arm to go back but its not meal I'll crave anytime soon. Also, solid place to get gas.

Great seasoning, crispy, moist and juicy inside, the best piece of fried chicken I've had in many, many years.

A bad odor is very concerning in a place that sells food. The store looks like it's had better days. However, the one employee who helped me at the register was very pleasant.

I asked for a Turkey, bacon and cheese sub. He goes to say, "oh that's extra meat". I asked, how? Then went to say that I've never been told that and I'm there often. The guy continues on with his reasonings. I was lost and confused by this time. So, I let him know that I didn't mind paying for what I wanted. That was just some new info to me. He started going about how not charging affects his bonus pay and this that and the third. I didn't ask him for any of that info. Carried out so bad, he ended up burning up the bacon. I kindly let him know he burned my bacon. He picks it up and look at it. I replied again, "it's burned, I don't want it"... Trying to be nasty and look, bacon turned out to be useless. Hopefully "he's" paying for it, smh. And I doubt that he will. I never want to encounter him ( older, black American guy) again.'Never had that problem with anyone else. Sometimes the line can be extra long or there's been a time when they were out of white bread(but the young guy, took care of that for me)... This guy was rude, too old to carry the situation out like he did. I was fresh off work, tired and all(still in uniform). I had no time for that type energy. I was trying to grab dinner and get home. That's it and that is all. I work in an executive kitchen in Uptown, we please and take care of our customers. I would do the same and give the same energy even if it was QT, Subway and any other place. I ended up purchasing the sub as well as a pack of Oscar Myers fully cooked bacon strips( again I do not mind, paying for what I want). The service and experience was horrible. He needs to stay off front line. Especially tell me, the customer... "If I don't charge, it affects my bonus. Go get who usually serves you and I'll tell them too. See, I don't mind. They must not know"... ... Pissed me off, so UNPROFESSIONAL. I'm sure the few who were behind me in line heard him also. They ended up walking away.
