Same thing. As i went back in my car a man, the owner i guess, was at the door dressed in casual shorts and a Tshirt i think. He looked like he just woke up. I asked him if he was open. He said only "by appointment only." Now the "appointment" words were not on his Yelp page or front door. He told me his openings for Friday and Saturday. I was already annoyed about his unprofessionalism and poor credibility for someone having a business, i think the idea is to cater their business life around the customer and not the customer cater their problems around the business owner's convenience. If anything he seemed annoyed that i woke him up or so it seemed. He wasn't friendly, cordial, interested in having a potential customer back on the customer's time. Cracked her laptop open ourselves and removed most of the screws from the battery to try and take it out, but there were two that we could not get out so we caved and took it in to the shop. The person at the front was able to remove them immediately and very easily, and walked us through all of the possible outcomes for the laptop. The laptop was fine when dried in-store for a few days, though the price for it to just sit there by a fan was higher than I would have liked. I also wish they had been a little more communicative, we had to call more than once just to get updates. Overall, they were knowledgeable and it got fixed, so I would return in the event of another mishap.

But if your computer has a mind of its own, expensive "fixes" that often don't work (or that you don't understand) can be a non-starter. I am writing to introduce Abhishek Goel, my 'secret weapon' in dealing with computer issues. I told a friend on the UCLA faculty that I was having computer problems and she immediately gave me Abhishek's phone number. The rest is history. He responded right away, he was able to come to my office and look at the problem and HE FIXED IT! On the spot. And explained what he had done. And his bill was a bargain, compared to various fix-it guys I have used. AND, unlike me, he's always in a good mood.
