I was a patient of Dr. Morin over 20 years ago. He kept braces on my teeth for 5.5 years. Now, 26 years later I'm having more teeth issues than ever. My dentist was horrified learning that a medical professional thought it was ok to keep braces on my teeth for that long. Now, my enamel is thin, I need possible veneers. DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE!!! So my previous dentist sold his practice to Dr Mark and his wife and their Hi Tech Dentistry. Well, my first visit went ok...the hygienist was pretty awesome (first step to a good dentist). The dentist seemed kind of rushed and basically told me I needed a crown replaced..felt like I was at the drive thru at MacDonalds at that point. The office staff was great and handed me a "Welcome " gift of some trinkets..which I politely declined as I am at a point in my life that I really don't need more "stuff ". I left the office feeling like I really wasn't comfortable having work done here. Then...I got the bill!!! I am a dental assistant with 8 years of experience and I searched high and low for a dental office that fit my needs and this office is it. Normally dental assistants get "at cost" or free care from the dentists that they work for, but I am the only assistant at my office and so I had to find my own dentist. I looked for an office that no longer places amalgam fillings, that carefully removes old amalgam fillings, that has digital xray systems, that uses the highest technology available in dentistry such as Cerec crown systems, and this office has it all. Originally I wished to see Dr, Morin, but as I work on the days that he is available I decided to see his lovely wife, Dr. Shanna McGettrick. She is a newer dentist, but is also very good and she gets to share all of the great equipment at the High Tech Dentistry office. The staff couldn't be more accommodating, and Sandy, the hygienist that I see, is wonderful. The office environment is pleasant and I am always seen promptly or with very little waiting time. I read a one star review about Dr. Morin complaining that he made a retainer for an extracted tooth that left a space between the gum line and the retainer. The reason that it is made that way is so that food and particles do not get stuck between the healing gum area and the retainer. Liquid can easily wash debris away so that the particles will not get lodged and cause pain or disrupt the healing tissues. This is perfectly normal. It sounded to me like Dr. Morin has a "sense of humor" and was just trying to break the tension with the patient and she took it the wrong way. I have not met Dr. Morin and I hope that he is not as arrogant as this reviewer touts him to be. The costs at this office are a little high, but worth the extra money. I wish that the doctor exams were a little less because I have to pay quite a bit out of pocket after insurance adjustments. So overpriced. Dr Morin is good but he's not all that. They kept going over my insurance limit so I left. Dr. Morin is much better than his wife Dr. McGetrick. She gave me a really ugly Ill-fitting crown that I had to replace. Another female dentist did my bridge. It cost thousands. Only lasted 4 years. The $900 occlusal Guard did not fit. I broke off an old crown, and was immediately interested in Dr. Mark Morin and his CEREC technology. It enables him to create a porcelain crown or veneer, in his office, in a single visit. I thought that was pretty amazing. Makes my old dentist look old-fashioned. Dr. Morin uses a variety of other high-tech, modern tools, as well. I researched and learned that he has been using this system for over 20 years, and actually teaches weekly classes for dentists from around the country about how to use the CEREC system. I found there are gentle tweaks to the CAD-CAM software that can improve results even more, so having someone with experience can be even better. I was VERY impressed by his office staff. The technician who worked with me alongside Dr. Morin was Connie. She was the most highly-trained dental tech I've ever seen, and I've seen many. I asked her privately what it was like to work for Dr. Morin, and she convinced me that he's a real gem, a truly wonderful fellow. I found him to be friendly and personable, he gave me a firm handshake, direct eye contact and a warm smile. Professionally, he struck me as being extremely competent. My many years of dental work presented him with some unique challenges, and he handled everything perfectly. I am completely pleased with the results. I happened to see my old dentist and told him I'd gone to see a new dentist that uses the CEREC system. He said, "We've been thinking about getting one, too." If I could leave less than one star, I would. This dentist is so shady, Bernie Madoff is embarrassed for him. I hesitated to write this review, I waited for this dentist to do the right thing. But, customer service is not on the list of their values, so here I am. I broke a crown about a year ago & went to Hi-Tech Family Dentistry, saw Dr Morin for about 5 minutes. He insisted I needed surgery (which was performed just fine by another dentist). He also assured me over and over that while my surgery healed, my temporary retainer/crown would look natural, it would be painless and no one would notice that it was there. After all, he boasted, he "was the best". Then he went into his hard sell routine. I ignored his peacocking and "look how successful I am" routine of listing his accomplishments because at that point I just wanted the pain to stop. Bad Sandi! Do not ignore that inner "ick" alarm, it's there for a reason. The real pain (in my ass!) came when I got the retainer from their office after my surgery. It didn't fit. How could it not fit when they took impressions?! Isn't that dentistry 101? I would have let is slide if there wasn't a gaping bleeding hole in my jaw that needed a spacer to cover up the healing exposed bone. I came to the office pretty upset. The temporary crown was about 3 mm under my gum line & the retainer was so loose it would flop around when I talked, giving me a lisp. In no universe would someone thing that was natural. And I explained to him over and over, I work with clients a few inches from my face, I can't have some retainer falling out of my mouth every few minutes. I was treated with as much sympathy as a teenager who got called a name at lunchtime. He basically laughed it off and said it was "no big deal" since it "looked just fine", "no one would notice except you" (me) and it wasn't as bad as his retainer when he was younger. Ummm...do I give a shit about YOUR college age dental work when I'm being overcharged for "the best" cosmetic dentist in town? (Hint-no). In some attempt to prove to me the retainer *did* in fact fit, the hygienist tried in vain to jam the retainer in my post-surgery bleeding mouth to until the blood dripping on my neck and chest stopped her. It hurt like a bitch! She then called the Dr to claim "she's STILL not happy with it". Dr Morin came back in & continued to berate me on my unrealistic expectations and dramatic vanity (he literally said I had to stop worrying about what I looked like so much!) The only frame of reference that I had was what HE told me he could do. Wait a sec- didn't countless patients' "vanity" pay for the Jag he drives?!?! He's a COSMETIC Dentist- he better hope people continue to be "vain" or he'd be broke! After his refusal to fix the ill-fitting retainer and the slew of insults I left the office in tears. Yes, tears. Combine that with the bloody mouth and blood-stained shirt and I'm sure I looked super hot. Good thing I'm so vain. The office manager made a half-assed attempt to get me to stay and let another dentist try on me but at that point my mouth and my ego hurt, so I was done. Some how this guy thinks he deserves to be paid for a broken retainer and this treatment. I explained quite clearly, if they made me one that fit I would pay. They continually refused and responded with the "you should be glad we gave you anything" attitude. Never once was there an apology or attempt to remedy the situation. Instead of doing the right thing and fixing his mistake, he is hiding behind his God complex and making *me* to blame. (If only I wasn't so damn vain!) Dentists like this really do give this industry a bad name. He should be embarrassed by his lack of professionalism AND his lack of technical skills. The slimy used-car salesman routine went the way of the boombox. Why not take a cue from the big guys and actually give your customers service. Reminder, you are NOT doing someone a favor by gracing them with your dental prowess. I encourage anyone needing dental treatment, look elsewhere. Anywhere. Have your friend grab a pair of pliers and go to town. Just avoid this snake oil salesman like the plague. read more

Made an appointment and we were told Free consultation, free cleanings and free x-rays, when we arrived they charged us $230 for what they claimed was an emergency visit. No services were performed. Beware of shady business practices, I would not be surprised if the positive reviews were fake or their friends and family. read more

My dentist said I needed an old silver filing replaced. i work and pass by Dr. Morin's big sign office everyday to work, so I decided to stop i because it talks about hi-tech. He was O.K. personally, but examined my mouth, and proceede to tell me I need 8 other back teeth fixed, and how he has a newest method, and teaches other drs how to use this machine (cerec i think). I could'nt believe it-I went in for one tooth problem, and he tells me i need 8 other teeth "crowned". I went back to my dentist, and he said I didn't need a crown, old or new type---fixed my tooth with a new tooth colored filling, and he told me dr. morin has a rep for this and owns part of what he teaches other dentists. If I could give zero stars I would..... finally, he's REALLY EXPENSIVE, more than twice a expensive for crowns as 3 offices I called! read more

Having thoroughly researched the use of mercury i.e. amalgam fillings in the mouth, I believe the practice is toxic to the body. As a young teen I had four alleged cavities fixed with amalgam fillings and for some time as an adult sought to have them removed at the appropriate time. That opportunity arose when after a recent cleaning I was informed that after 30+ years, one or more of the amalgam fillings were failing. Studies show that removing amalgam fillings can release huge amounts of mercury into the body. My current dentist was not IAOMT educated in biological dentistry including techniques for proper removal of mercury fillings. I began searching and interviewing dentists I deemed qualified to complete my needed work. I found and chose Hi Tech Family Dentistry in Southfield Michigan because of the qualifications of the attending dentists and staff. Dr. McGettrick assessed the condition of my fillings and a treatment plan was presented for me to approve. The assessment allowed removal of all four fillings at the same appointment minimizing visits, inconvenience, use of time, and my exposure to mercury poisoning. Dr. McGettrick and her staff were very knowledgeable, friendly, organized and efficient. I would not describe any filling replacement or dental procedure as enjoyable, let alone four, but Dr. McGettrick and the staff ensured that I was comfortable and minimized any uneasiness and displeasure as was humanly possible. The fillings were performed with top of the line CAD/CAM technology performed in the office, which ensured a perfect fit. Following the procedure, the staff followed up with me to make sure there were no complications that arose after I had left. Even though I live about 30 miles from this dentist, I will have all of my future dental services provided through this dental office as long as I live in a commutable distance. read more
