Dr. Manoukian was great. It's never fun when you have to go to a specialist - I feared the worse. He laid out all the possibilities and discussed each on with me in detail, answering all questions. We agreed on the next steps. The actual procedure was pretty much pain free, thanks to his technique. Also appreciated that he asked what type of music (if any) I wanted to listen to - sometimes those little things can put you at ease. He also spent time with me afterwards explaining what he did, and advising what I should do if I felt any pain over the next few days (I didn't!). read more

This man has some serious skills. I was referred to him by another dentist after experiencing horrible tooth/jaw pain and he quickly identified the tooth which had died. Prognosis: ROOT CANAL! But it could not have been a more gentle experience. From his cool ipod selection that he let me choose, to the friendly nurses to his explaining exactly what he would do, how long it normally takes to recover and such things, it was as pleasant as oral surgery can be. :-0 But I was mostly floored by his skills. He cleaned and packed all the roots and even found one that other surgeons might have missed. I have had other root canals and lots of dental work in general and am acutely aware of a doctors skillset. Dr. Manoukian is in the upper echelon of oral surgeons. If you have the misfortune of needing this procedure, I don't think you will find anyone better for the job. read more

I had to have a root canal done and Dr. Manoukian was recommended by my primary dentist, Dr. Haas. This was my first root canal ever as it was caused by a rock in a Whole Foods burrito. I was very nervous to say the least but he performed it so incredibly smooth that it was done in just over an hour with no pain what so ever to speak of. He made me feel very comfortable before he started and I truly appreciated his candor and his joviality - what a great guy. To boot, I asked him to write a statement of declaration for me for my small claims suit against Whole Foods and he had no problem doing that for me. He is an all around great guy and an exceptional endodontist. I would recommend him to anyone needing a root canal. I hope he'll let me buy him a drink some day. Cheers! read more

So incredibly professional, thorough and kind. I am a complete weeny when it comes to dentists much less needing an endodontist. Dr M is so patient, kind, and conservative in his approach. Love him and his staff!! read more

I have visited Dr. Manoukian three times this year because my regular dentist knew that he would be sensitive to my anxiety about being in the chair! Dr. M was courteous, professional and communicated clearly about what he was doing. I was referred to Dr. Manoukian by my regular dentist for consultation on a possible root canal. Dr. Manoukian got started on my tooth and then decided he could not complete the procedure. I was dumbed up with medication and that's about it. Charged me and my insurance company and then I had to go on to another dentist to have an expensive extraction...without insurance. I believe it was obvious the tooth could not be saved and Dr. Manoukian should have just sent me on to have it taken out. But, he got his money first. read more

At the suggestion of a friend, I flew from Boston to San Francisco to have Dr. Manoukian perform a root canal on my problematic back tooth. It was the best oral health decision I've ever made. Quality is JOB 1 in Dr. M's office. He and his assistant are thoroughly professional and exceptionally skilled. The procedure went off without any complications and - as importantly - without any pain. If you live in northern California and are using an endodontist who is NOT Dr. Mark Manoukian, then you're doing so at your own risk. With Dr. M, it's root canal in the morning, party in the evening. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Mark Manoukian. My son, at 15 yrs. old, had his front tooth knocked loose. We ended up under Dr. Manoukian's care. We'd never met him before and this was an 'emergency' situation. Dr. Manoukian was so good at making my son feel comfortable and assured. He took time and great care in explaining everything to us and answering all our questions. He did an excellent job taking care of the tooth. My dentist; Dr. Eliza Hyatt of Larkspur Family dentists recommended Dr. Mark Manoukian for a root canal. I was able to get in for a consultation that day. The staff was friendly and professional and Dr. Manoukian was very clear and helpful. The office scheduled an appointment for the next day. The root canal was painless and Mark was kind, sensitive and explained the procedure very clearly along the way which allayed any nervousness that I had. I was treated with respect and empathy the entire time. The atmosphere in the office between him, the other doctors and staff is happy and positive. I have had extensive medical and dental treatment and this was completely a five star experience. My advice is: look no further, he is the best. read more

Dr. Manoukian asked the right questions! I think you have to be in my shoes for nearly three years of trying to get to the root of my problems. Finally although my other specialists were excellent they were unable to make me forget my teeth! He is awesome and my two root canals were completely pain free and fast. I am so incredibly thankful to be pain free every day after 3 years of trying to get my pain taken care of. Excellent service! Thank you Mark! (He prefers his given name) a very grateful patient. read more

Dr. Manoukian is, by any measure, tops in his field. He handled a root canal for me with skill, precision, good humor, and enlightening explanations every step of the way. He came highly recommended by my regular dentist, and I quickly saw why. I have had other major dental procedures done in the Bay Area but none were done as competently or as enjoyably. Yes, Dr. Manoukian actually made a root canal enjoyable. How can you beat that? read more

Three Root Canals and a Cavity --all handled in one day! I am a former (retired) health reporter for ABC in Los Angeles, and I can happily declare that Dr. Manoukian was a life-saver! I suffer from acute "dry mouth" as a result of other medical treatments and suddenly was faced with THREE teeth in the back, upper left (all in a row!) in need of a root canals, along with a seriously bad cavity on the upper right side. I have a narrow throat and a resulting severe gag reflex, so the decision was made to sedate me and do all the procedures in one day to avoid over-medicating and making my life miserable 4 times (!). It's now the following week and I am SO relieved to report that he saved ALL four teeth. And the most amazing fact is that I have had absolutely NO swelling or post-procedure pain! Dr. M called me the next day to see how I was doing. I'd followed the recommended 2/ 200mg Advils the following 2 days every 8 hours and I've been FINE. Truly a miracle all around and I cannot say enough about this skilled, kind, caring dentist and his wonderful staff. This is an office with the latest equipmen and a highly-trained staff that is "cutting edge." I had to be of Dr. M's most "challenging" cases and I came through it all in perfect shape, deeply grateful for his awesome skill and the staff's incredibly thoughtfulness through the entire experience. We are SO lucky to have this kind of top-drawer care right here in Marin. read more

I read several of the reviews before beginning mine. Seems it's all been said before; Dr Manoukian is SKILLED. My experience was nearly painless due to his method--today's root canal procedure was practically a delight. Such an interesting guy, very personable, capable of taking your mind off your failing tooth, yet able to explain what he's doing, and why, in laymen's terms. He treats your aching tooth like it's a piece of art that needs careful restoration (which it is, and does). If you need root canal work, stop looking and book your appointment read more

My little nine year old daughter had a swimming accident at the neighbors pool. The damage: her front tooth needed a ton of work. (Rebuilding of root canal, an actual root canal and medicine inside to prevent a dying tooth). We were all so scared for a little girl to have so much trauma and especially being such a visible tooth. She began to hide her smile and refused smiling for a year because of some kids making fun of her at school and she hates her smile. After an appt with Dr. Mark we found that the tooth didn't finish growing, we needed very specific and special treatments which would take a year to complete & then the final appointment would be an actual root canal! All I can say is that Dr. Mark made my little girl feel like a queen with no pain, no mental drama and no unnecessary emotional issues related to her self image, dentistry overall and we just walked out of his office at our last appointment with big happy smiles from ear to ear. Dr. Mark and his staff are top notch. My little angel has secretly told me that she wants to be Dr. Mark when she grows up. Thank you Mark and staff for giving me my little Angel and her smile back. read more

I was referred to Dr. Manoukian by my dentist after we discovered a tooth issue in need of Root Canal!! I was nervous and anxious, as I am very sensitive to dental pain. From the moment I met Mark Manoukian, he and his staff did everything possible to put me at ease. He played the music of my choice on the ipod, and listened to my concerns, providing sufficient Novocain to COMPLETELY prevent pain through the entire procedure. He carefully explained every step in the process, and completed it with ease. Through the entire process, I did not experience even the smallest bit of discomfort or pain. I had complete confidence in him, and would absolutely recommend him to anyone needing this type of dental work. If ever I need this type of dental work again (I hope I don't), I would absolutely, without question, return to Dr. Manoukian once again. read more

I've been to see Mark three times, and my visits are as pleasant as could possibly be considering the purpose. The staff is friendly and helpful, and Mark is extraordinarily knowledgeable, considerate, and patient. I saw him three times, and his work was perfect. One time he felt no work was needed, and he charged me only half price for the consultation. When work was needed, he called me a few days after completion, to ensure everything was still okay. He even played the music of my choice when he was doing the work. I recommended him to my wife when she needed root canal and she concurred with my opinion. I recommend him to you too. read more

Dr. Mark Manoukian and Receptionist Jamie were outstanding in handling my emergency situation. Old Root canal got infected and blew up over weekend and I wasn't "home", but on business in Marin. They fit me in as soon as I called for help Monday morn. Jamie was extremely understanding and sympathetic and Dr. Mark's chairside manner was not only comforting, but relatable. He listened to me and he explained options well. Considering my face was a puff ball, he prescribed a specific strong antibiotic to my area of infection, advised the need to wait let infection subside ( novalcaine would be fairly useless because it's neutralized by the acidic ph of the bacteria...who knew?), and ensured I'd be comfortable getting home with prescription painkiller. They charged a nominal amount to get me seen, xrayed, and diagnosed. I only wish I could have stayed in Marin long enough to do the actual procedure necessary to revamp the root canal. Since I didn't have an endodontist in Irvine, he went the extra mile to give me two of his endodontic classmates names who both practice in my area, and from reviews, he pointed me in the right direction. Thank you to the Greenbrae office and Dr. Mark and Jamie. C. Wilson visit 9/26/16 read more

Dr Manoukian took my son in for an Emergency Root Canal over the Holiday. He was Professional, kind, explained everything to my son and even asked what music he would like to hear during the surgery! If you can have a great experience while getting a root canal, Dr Manoukian's office is where you can! I am an adult male who recently had root canal that was very challenging in that it was my last lower tooth and I have an extremely small jaw. The mouth prop (what is used to keep your mouth open) he has to use on me was an infant/baby size. Modern day powered instruments could not fit in my mouth and Dr Manoukian had to do the entire procedure with hand instruments. I did not feel rushed in any way, he took the time to explain everything to me and made sure he gave me the dental anesthesia in such a way I only felt the first shots and he made sure that I was truly numb before working on me. Because of my jaw situation, almost any other oral surgeon would have opted to pull the tooth and make me get an implant. Dr Manoukian saw it as a challenge and took the time so save the tooth. He then took the time to follow up to see how I was doing. I am thrilled to say I felt great right away and was able to go to a charity event the next night. While I hope not to visit his office again soon. If I have a dental issue that would warrant an Oral Surgeon, is who I and any member of my family will immediately go see Dr Manoukian. read more

I can't say enough about my experience with Dr. Mark Manoukian. Recently, I was sent to Dr. Manoukian by my regular dentist Dr. Chris Catalano for a consultation on one of my teeth. I have had a lot of dental work and, as a result, I am very conscientious as well as nervous when I go to a dentist, especially when it is a referral to a specialist. I think uh-oh! So, with trepidation, I went to my appointment in Greenbrae. I sat in the chair nervously waiting and when Dr. Manoukian walked into the room, I was immediately put at ease. Not only does he have a gentle and kind chair-side manner, but it is clear that he knows exactly what he is doing. He took time with me and explained things in a way a layman could easily understand. I left his office with perfect knowledge of the situation and feeling so good about having him as a dentist. I highly recommend Dr. Manoukian because he is a complete pro and a wonderfully empathetic man. Five stars! read more

Mark is what every professional should be- ethical and honest. I had been having pain for a few weeks and after an initial exam, a root canal was scheduled. On the day of the root canal I explained to Mark that I had not been having an pain for a day or two. He carefully examined me and suggested we hold off on a root canal. I had stopped using my electric tooth brush and we thought that it had perhaps irritated my gums. It's been about 2 weeks and I have not have any problems. Mark did not hesitate to call of the procedure- even though he had cleared his afternoon for my appointment. He put the interest of his patient first. He is a true professional and someone that I would go back to when I need a root canal or other procedure. read more

I think I might well be a dentist's worse nightmare. I have a gag reflex that won't quit and start sweating bullets as soon as I see the white coats. I was referred to Dr. Manoukian by my dentist in SF.. She was quite concerned that my infected tooth be looked at right away, as I was already starting to have some trouble swallowing. My dentist loaded me up on antibiotics and sent me on my way. Dr. Manoukian was kind enough to fit me in his schedule. By the time my wife got me to Greenbrae, my jaw had locked up. I could barely fit the width of my thumb in my mouth. The first thing I noted about the Dr. Was his calm presence. He explained the nature of my lockjaw and that he would have to wait to do the procedure. He verified my antibiotic regimine and that it would ease the swelling and in time my jaw. He was very patient as I had a lot of questions, all of which he answered. It took about four weeks for my jaw to come around. The ladies in his office fielded my calls and questions very professionally and with a great sense of humor. When the day came, I took my oral sedation and awoke feeling fine. I would unhesitatingly return to Dr. Manoukian for his knowledge, patience and skill! read more

I was so scared because I knew I needed a root canal and don't like pain! Dr. Manoukian put me at ease from the first word he said and I ended up trusting him throughout the entire procedure. He was extremely careful to make sure that I wouldn't suffer during the procedure and at the slightest signal from me was attentive to my need for more novocain. I wouldn't wish any dental work on anyone but if you do have to have it, Dr. Manoukian is the best and I will definitely choose him, God forbid, if I have to have something else done!! Also, he let me play my spotify music through his speakers, which also made all the difference in helping me calm down and be soothed. read more

This guy is my hero. Mr. Root Canal. Dr. Manoukian was extremely kind, precise, eager to explain and efficient with this specialty procedure. He understood when I needed a brisk walk on the lagoon while the anesthesia kicked in. I am sure everyone has thoughts of escaping and avoiding this procedure. He does such a great job in treating patients like human beings!! I felt like I was at specialty muffler auto clinic.. except he did not treat me like a car. Can't thank him enough. He is sooo in the right field of work. Chatting away like what he is doing is no big deal. PS. I don't recommend looking in the hand mirror to see what he is doing or looking at utubes before you go in. You don't need to see it when you are in the hands of a professional. I would give him my first born if I could.. except he doesn't need it. Yeah, good luck to you Doctor and your growing family. A rare gem. read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr, Manoukian. He is highly skilled and up to date, and was considerate of my comfort throughout (it helps that he projects warmth easily).
