It was a hassle free to schedule a consultation, very quick and to the point type of consultation to get 2 wisdom teeth removed, one impacted. Wanted to know the cost to proceed and they informed me upfront with an itemized invoice of what my insurance covers and what is parient responsability. Very clean place, friendly and caring staff. The day of the procedure Dr. Elder explained what he was going to do, i was put to sleep and it felt like it was 5 min. Communication is not terribly efficient in this Office/ but the extraction was amazing.. My only issue was the fact that i had 2 days of terrible rash in the aftermath of my # 2 Tooth. removal- Dr,Elder will ONLY do extraction with heavy duty Anesthesia. there were 5 people in the operating room right..No wonder its so expensive!! I attempted to inform him that i am highly sensitive to any drugs but i was given something that did not go well with my immune system. Tooth was out in 6 minutes. Antibiotics and or Anesthesia drugs made me quite sick for 4 days afterwards I am alright now after a full week of surgery. read more

Recently had all four wisdom teeth taken out by Dr. Riley. Initially found them on Yelp and my sister in law also recommended them. Overall I was very happy with my experience from initially setting my appointment to my follow up appointment a week after the extractions. Office was very clean and staff were friendly. I was not sure if I would have out of pocket expenses so they did a check for me ahead of time so I knew what to expect- luckily my insurance covered 100%! My initial experience with the staff made it easy to go through the procedure considering I was traumatized from a previous root canal experience. I asked to be put under for that reason as I did not want to feel anything or be awake... crazy how fast it seemed to have happened! Right away, he put our young son and us at ease in regards to his major oral surgery. The surgery went quickly and my son was made as comfortable as possible. I am so happy that I was referred here. I had a consult appointment to have some teeth removed today and they seen me for the removal today at the last minute which I appreciate because I really did not want to miss work for a second appointment. Dr. Riley was AMAZING and very friendly. I was a little nervous because I tried to have one of my wisdom teeth pulled at the horrible Western Dental in El Cerrito and he was just pulling and pulling with minimal numbing, but Dr Riley restored my faith in dentists because I felt NOTHING (under local anesthesia). First, which Dentist or Oral Surgeon is open Saturday nowadays? Or able to schedule an appointment at 6am? Dr. Elder and Vallejo Oral Surgery does!! They have a very accommodating schedule for us busy people. I had to extract 2 wisdom teeth, a back molar, and a bone graft on Saturday morning. By Monday morning, I was ready to go back to work! Dr. ELder and staff were so inviting and friendly. I experienced very little pain and the stitches in my mouth are pretty neat and not sloppy. I had a lot of teeth extracted for upper dentures and they were awesome. Then I had an infected tooth on the bottom which was really bad. He removed that as well and I went from "give me a gun' to total relief. I would give them 100 stars if you could Then today I get home and I got a check for fourteen dollars for overpayment. I had to have oral surgery for the entire top of my mouth. As bad as that sounds the experience itself was GREAT! The entire team made me feel comfortable from the moment that I walked into their office. Dr. Elder answered my questions. I didn't feel rushed or feel like I was "just another patient". After my initial consultation I was able to get an appointment immediately. Since this was during the Covid-19 pandemic I wanted to take advantage of hiding behind a mask. My surgery went fine and although I don't remember it, I was in and out within the hour. I am looking forward to my follow-up appointment next week just so that I can say thank you! Next year, when my benefits reload I'll be back to finish the bottom half of my mouth. I couldn't feel better about getting it done here. I haven't been to a dentist in over 10 years, as I am terribly frighten by them. I'm almost 30 and had never got my wisdom teeth removed and hadn't planned on doing so until I found myself in unbearable pain due to an infection from my impacted wisdom teeth. Without making this long winded I'll get to the point! Staff: All of the staff from the receptionist to the dental assistants to the actual surgeons are very friendly and extremely efficient. I adore Dr.Mahr as he and his assistants made me feel welcome and very knowledgeable about everything that was going on throughout my consultation appointment and surgery. Equipment: They are very clean office, which I can Appreciate. I didn't see a spec of dust on the equipment and they X-ray machines that are used looked modern and well kempt. Getting my wisdom teeth pulled was fast and painless. I came in they gave me some relaxing medicine through a mask. Less than a minute later Dr. Mahr arrived, injected my arm with the IV and I was out. Extraction only took about 30 minutes and I was on my way home! That's literally it! Before I was discharged They gave me very detail typed instructions for after care which I appreciated. The only gripe I have is that there isn't much ventilation or seating in the lobby area so it got pretty stuffy to me while I was waiting but I guess that's just me reaching for something other than a compliment to give them to make this review seem more balanced. I had a broken root canal, and the tooth, plus some damaged bone had to be removed. I was SUPER anxious about oral surgery, as I've had some not so happy experiences back in my college days, when I put some things off, and didn't have much money to fix it. Dr Elder was calm, friendly, made me feel that things were going to be ok, and I've never had anesthesia work so smoothly and painlessly. It LITERALLY was over before I even realized it! We were getting set up, I took a breath or two - turned my head and said "how long before we start?" The nurse said, "We're all done!" I was astounded it all went so easily. Definitely lowered my fear of future dental work, already improved by my usual dentist, Dr. Jackson, whom I've been seeing for awhile now - and who referred me here. Our Ortho and DDS in Mill Valley referred someone in the Mill Valley area. The office which they referred was slow in getting back. Not too competitive in the pricing for removal of wisdom teeth. I tried calling Dr. Elder because he was in our Guardian Network for providers. Our benefits remaining were going to expire. I figured it would be worth the drive up to Novato. (Dr Elder has an office in Novato and Vallejo). Well worth the drive. Dr Elder is so nice, gentle and wonderful. The staff is great. They worked with us on our insurance balance. I've never had a tooth pulled but need 3 done in order to get braces. I went into the office panicked & scared (about being put under and having a tooth pulled) his staff assured me several times I'd be okay. Doctor came in , super friendly, numbed my arm, put the iv in all within seconds. He knew I was about to try to talk my way out of it and Within 10 seconds I was asleep. 3 weeks ago I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled by Dr Elder, the surgery went well since my wisdom teeth roots were very deep and impacted in my jaw the doctor gave me anesthesia through the IV in my left arm. After surgery I woke up with gauze in my mouth but I didnt feel any pain. Two weeks later I healed with no infection or dry socket in my mouth. Dr. Elder is the nicest, sweetest man! I accompanied a friend who was getting her wisdom teeth extracted and explained to him that I would need the same procedure. I expressed my concerns about having this procedure done. I also told him about a previous consultation that I had with another oral surgeon that made me even more nervous and the quote for the procedure was too much for me. He calmly and patiently explained everything to me and what to expect. He told me I had nothing to worry about. And I really didn't! I wasn't charged for my consultation or x-rays, he gave me a discount and he even split my payments.
