I have had a few crowns replaced in the last few years and never had the attention paid to me that Dr. Makkiyah, and her teammates, Jared and Lydia did. From x-rays to final cementing of new crowns, they were amazing, explaining everything to me very carefully and then executing with the utmost care and precision. They have amazing technology that assists them with the best possible delivery. They were able to remove two old crowns, measure for new ones and have those ready in just a couple of hours. I am so impressed. But again, this alone would not be that impressive if it weren't for the team's caring and concern for my comfort and well being. They made a not very fun procedure into something more than tolerable. Even when she administered the pain shots, they did something that made that less painful. I also wear Invisalign retainers so they made a point of keeping the shape of the crowns exactly as my old ones were, saving me the expense of obtaining new retainers. In my lifetime, I have probably been to at least 7 dentists in various cities and I wish I had met Dr. Makkiyah sooner!

They use strong arm tactics were they pretty much try to convince to buy more denture work than you need. I only went there for simple dentures. This place left me discouraged and sad because this is the day and age we are living in now. The women there were condescending, and rude. I don't know what your experience was I can only tell you about mine. I have dentures why would I need to buy temporary dentures while wait for my new ones to be made? This was back in September I would have to be on a payment plan for a total cost of about $4800. To start the procedure I would make payments starting at $845. When I call today I got this rude genius on the phone claiming he was the office manager. He said he has been there for two months, and there is no one else I can speak to and the buck stops with him. First off dude the buck does not stop at you. He pulled up my old quote and told me that I would need to pay half up front $2300. I ask him why is that that is not what it was back in Sept. First he says "it a new policy", then I said since when. He then said "since September 2025". "Oh, how could that be when they gave me the price I told you". Get this he then said "Oh, they weren't really enforcing the policies back then". I asked to speak to a supervisor he put me on hold for a couple of minutes, then he can back, and said "there is no one else to talk to that what it his, and he's the highest I can go. So, he is Mr. Dentist of Vallejo. I dont think so that would be the district manager, and the Dental Board of California rude dude. These ppl have unscrupulous business practices. If I tell you what I want, and what I can't afford they continue to still badger and persuade you about a higher price denture. Furthermore, I already had x-ray from another dentist that told me I didn't need extractions. This dentist in Sept told me my dentist was wrong. When I told her I was not getting them she got an attitude. Why would I get my teeth pulled if it wasn't necessary. Again, these ppl are about money doing unnecessary dental work at you and your insurance company's expense. To each is own , but this is not a reputable business.

Over time, my family member has experienced a few frustrations that contributed to feeling unheard or not fully supported. One of those included calling multiple times over several weeks without receiving follow-up, though that was just one part of the overall experience. My first off-putting experience happened right when we walked in. There was no greeting, no hello, and no check-in--just brief eye contact followed by silence as they turned away. We weren't sure what to do, so we sat down. A few minutes later, my family member's name was called. While this may seem small, first impressions really matter and help set the tone for a visit. During our time there, I noticed another situation at the front desk that stood out. A client was waiting there for quite some time while staff were present. When he was finally acknowledged, he was asked, "Are you ok?" and then told, "Oh, I thought you were waiting for a ride." A simple greeting and asking how someone could be helped would have made the interaction feel much more welcoming. It wasted his time. After the client left, I overheard staff comment that "he could've said something." While that may have been said casually, clients shouldn't have to speak up just to receive assistance. The front desk is the first point of contact and sets the tone for the entire experience. I also overheard a phone call where the tone felt dismissive, with comments like "well, you called us, so I'm calling you back" and "I don't know what you need, you called us." After the call ended, there was further conversation between staff that seemed to make light of the situation and the patient. Hearing this while other clients were present felt uncomfortable. Overall, being attentive, welcoming, and mindful of tone and conversations--especially in shared spaces--goes a long way in making people feel respected and valued. I'm sharing this feedback in hopes it leads to a more positive experience for future patients. Since there's quite a bit of negative feedback here. This is your business-your name is on it. Your staff is a walking representation of you. They either help or negatively impact your brand. Customer service is a basic skill. Being kind, respectful, mindful and most importantly-professional, should be a non-negotiable. And based on the reviews, seems as though there is no accountably as the experiences seem to continue. Considering many of their patients may be senior citizens-there should be a standard with the overall experience provided. A standard to uphold and accountability.

Dr Jacquie is literally my tooth savior…read more After extensive orthodontics and braces for almost 3 years..I had a couple of gum protrusions from periodontic disease in my bottom gums. And while I had a team of dentists in my previous hometown, they were all very young and never asked about my overall health to fully understand the situation. Immediately she knew I had a health condition causing the gum issues and visited my doctor and began the healing process. Dr Jacquie is bold, so confident in what she's doing and I literally felt I had landed in the hands of a Dental god to get me to a long awaited finish line of getting my teeth straight and healthy. She also helped create a retainer for me to be able to eat with them and not look gross pulling out my invisilign retainer for every meal (especially with friends in public)...something my other ortho wouldn't even try to accommodate for me. I love Cindy at the front desk..and Shakira, Jacquie's assistant who was very knowledgeable and has a great chair side manner. Jacquie is straight up and gets into issues that may sound scary, but she's honest and her experience and reputation proves what a powerhouse she is in her industry! I absolutely just love her and am SO happy to be her patient!

This review is solely about the receptionist. I decided to re-establish myself at Glen Cove Dental…read more Mind you I've been coming here off and on since high school (I'm now 41). I was also made aware that Dr. Jackie does ortho treatment and decided to schedule an appointment. Made the appointment for a cleaning and ortho consultation. On the day of my appointment I arrived on time. Everything seemed to be going smooth until I gave the receptionist my address. I was then interrogated with questions like "Why are you coming here" and "Why did you come back". There was no thank you for returning or we appreciate you being a loyal patient. Almost felt condemned about my choice to return. It caught me off guard but I explained how I liked Dr Jackie and how I really felt comfortable with her service. The receptionist kind of just stared and said "oh ok". I get to the back and I thought I was taking regular X-rays and I was told the images were for the ortho consult. I apologized for the confusion and explained that I moved forward with another Dr. for ortho and just needed the cleaning done. I also explained during a confirmation call that I no longer needed the ortho treatment just the cleaning. The hygienist returned with the receptionist and she said "I'm confused on why you're here". I explained again for cleaning services. She said "well you went to all these places how do we know if your insurance will cover the X-ray". I explained to her those Xrays were done by orthodontist and that's just a panel view not a dental X-ray and I paid for that out of pocket. She went on and on about my last dentist and you went to so many prior dentist and I don't understand why you're here. At that moment I didn't know why I was there allowing her to speak to me like a child. I said "can you call met life and see when the last submission for X-rays was". She said no and gave an exhausted explanation about her having to call my prior dentist. Mind you I went to one orthodontist who I moved forward with treatment with and my prior dentist who I mistaken my last appointment date. After I left I called met life to confirm all service submissions and come to find out I was actually seen the end of last year so none of my money was used nor has anyone submitted anything for payment. I'm sure the receptionist could've done that. Anyway, I told her I would reschedule and just her lack of professionalism threw me off. Does it matter if I drove from Brentwood? All you need to know is I like Dr Jackie and it's not coming out of your pocket. I sat in my car for five minutes going over in my head if I should walk away or stay and deal with the rude receptionist because I like Dr. Jackie's work. Just knowing I would have to deal with the receptionist made me walk back in thank her and told her I'll just keep my previous Dr. It was no "let me change your mind" no "how can we keep you as a patient". She has the nerve to wink and said okay. No care in the world. Wasted gas, toll and time. Worst part is I lost a great dentist like Dr.Jackie.
