I cracked my tooth and needed a dentist right away. I just moved to Vallejo not too long ago so I didn't have one. I called Dr Pickett's office at 9am and they were to squeeze me in at 10am!! Dr Pickett and his staff are amazing!! Before my appointment he introduced himself to me while I was in the waiting room. That right there was a thumb's up for me! I was having a very high hope to find this office, but ended up Very unhappy with my experience on re-cement my bridge. It did not even last for a couple of months. Not recommended at all. Update in August 2024: The office is very rude when I called back today on $45 charge on the re-cement date. Not only they did not do anything good on re-cement my bridge, they refused to refund me the charge and hanged up on me. This office has ethical issue. My husband and I saw Dr. Pickett for the first time today after being referred by a neighbor. The office staff was extremely helpful, advising us about insurance paperwork and how to access our health care savings account, and every member of the staff is pleasant and welcoming from start to finish. We had previously seen another dentist who recommended a specialist for a very expensive procedure and told my husband he would need 1-2 root canals and/or crowns. Their estimate for the dental work was over $2.5K. Even though they were convenient to our home and their hours were very convenient, we felt that if he needed that much dental work, we should go through a dental practice that took our insurance. We polled our neighbors and several recommended the Pickett dental practice. I only wish we had found them a year ago! Amazingly, my husband needs none of the expensive work the other dentist wanted him to schedule. He needs two fillings replaced at a very modest cost and one other procedure that can be done right at Dr. Pickett's... no need to see an expensive periodontist and endodontist 20 miles from home. I'm a big baby when it comes to dentists and everyone in the office immediately put me at ease. I can't say enough "positive" about this practice. I Hate going to any Dr. But I knew I had to see a dentist because my teeth have really been hurting. I googled Dentist in vallejo. I saw that Dr. P didn't have any bad reviews so I tried him out, and boy am I happy I did. He has to be the Best Dentist I have ever been to in a few years. He was funny and he put everything in to perspective for a normal bean to understand He was able to calm me down from the damage that I had caused and made me feel reassured that everything was going to be ok and that we could make things better in the end. Mr. Pickett been my dentist since 2008 I believe, man time goes fast. As I expected I was treated like family. To make a long story short, I called in with a bad toothache, and was able to get squeezed in for an appointment immediately. Which was much appreciated. Im an extern here at Dr. Pickett's office and I am quite impressed with the staff and office as a whole. The chemistry they have with eachother and there patient's are simply perfect. Just having the back office perspective really shows how caring they are. I've witnessed the doctors care for terrified patients while keeping calm and professional; even towards a crying child they still lighten the mood with there charming qualities. Because of my education as an dental assistant, im often skeptical about doctor offices about how well they perform and I'm a believer. But sadly as I aged out of my parents dental I had to get my own and did not have the option at the time to see Dr. Pickett for a few year. But now I have the correct coverage and am back seeing Dr. Pickett and I couldn't be happier. Over the last few years I went to a lot of scary dentist that did more damage each time they where supposed to fix them and sweet Dr. Pickett has not only myself but my husband doing so much better. You cannot beat this Dr. Steve guy!! After 8 years of avoiding the dentist I managed to make my way through the front door and found the most warm, friendly and comforting staff you can imagine. YES--it costs to get your teeth fixed but I now have a great set of teeth. The staff did not make me feel guilty about my years of poor dental hygiene--nor did they lecture me endlessly about brushing and flossing--instead they made me feel so comfortable that now that my dental work is done I actually miss going to the dentist. I haven't been to the dentist since I was 17 I think? That's ten years ago. My mom never took me growing up and I finally went when I was in foster care. When I left I had no idea really how the whole dental process worked and never had the extra money or problems to go. I called to see how much it would be to get in for my specific tooth problem. The woman on the phone got very breathy and I could tell was annoyed by my question. She told me if I was her sister I should go down and go through the exam to see what the problem was ( I guess she comes from the world of insurance and parents who take care of their kids teeth like their supposed to) and told me she could tell me how much the xray cost. I said "ok how much is that?" "Ok that I can answer! Sixty five...goodbye." And then she hung up on me. I called back and told her that I am not her sister and maybe some people are comfortable with her lax attitude, but honestly this is really emotional for me and I have no idea how to ask, or what to ask for, when it comes to dental services. I told her I definitely wouldn't be going there, they need a new receptionist. You don't know peoples stories, you should never assume they are just being asinine. I wasn't trying to be annoying but I honestly haven't been to the dentist as an adult. After some crying I called another dentist. Who did not act that way. read more

Dr. Steven and his brother Alan share their Dental Office. Alan has been my Dentist for 22+ yrs. Years ago, I had an emergency root canal done by Steven because Alan was out of the office. Alan was out of the office this week, but, it was prearranged this time for Steven to give me my second root canal. I was struck by a car in 2009 creating high level anxiety. There were things Steven had to do today that made my anxiety level go extremely high.. He handled me, my anxiety and did my root canal flawlessly. He has a wonderful bedside manner ( so to speak ) . He literally just went above and beyond by calling to check on me. He gave me his emergency phone number just in case I need anything over the weekend. I have to admit I was a little bit nervous seeing as I have not been to this office in a very looooong time since high school . I had been having the worst tooth ache pain and they helped me out the staff was just like I remember them very courteous helpful and full of smiles! The X-ray was fast and quick not like at some places I went to where I was in pain and uncomfortable trying to maneuver the machine. I know that the statement,' Dr. Pickett has changed my life', sounds melodramatic, but it's the truth. I was a single parent to two boys for seventeen years and their needs always came first. I could not attend to all of my dental problems and my teeth were an embarrassment. I saved for two years to begin dental restoration and was given a recommendation, by a friend, to a dentist in Benicia. My teeth were x-rayed by that dentists' tech and when the dentist studied them he looked at me and said, quite notchalantly, "You need to have all of your teeth extracted." He then explained that I would need upper and lower plates. He told me that my existing teeth were not worth saving. I could not sleep for days. Several of my friends have patronized this dental office for years and said that he is probably right in his diagnosis. I decided to get another opinion, so I read the reviews on Dr. Pickett and made an appointment. My experience with him was on the opposite side of the spectrum from Dr. P------ in Bencia. After Dr. Pickett studied my x-rays and examined my teeth, he said, "I do not want to put you in dentures." He also said that my existing teeth, although ground down from bruxism, were solidly in place and could be crowned. I had to have many extractions, an old bridge removed, 8 porcelain crowns and an upper partial. It's is amazing what Dr. Pickett has accomplished for me. It has entailed a lot of work and patience for both Dr. Steven and myself, but I have my smile and self-esteem back. I went from feeling hopeless and depressed, to feeling and looking 10 years younger. I have never written a testimonial before, but cannot think of anyone that better deserves it. Dr. Pickett is a good dentist but the office staff that take care of the appointments and billing are not very organized, here is an example of my experience my whole family went here for all of our dental needs and many years ago my sister and myself were on my mothers coverage since we became of age and got our own dental insurance we have had nothing but problems with them billing my mom's insurance and not ours... and now my mother has one of the procedures I had done on her credit because not only did they ignore the forms I filled out excepting financial responsibility for my procedures but they also failed to contact me or my mom when the insurance denied the claim. A bill collector phone my mother almost two years later I recalled the situation where I was adimit with them about this being my own coverage and the receptionist calling my insurance and verifying it for me. I contacted the office manager (Carrie) to let her know what the situation was she told me I way lying.. not very friendly.. read more

This is the best dentist that I have ever been to and I'm almost 60 years old. Very gentle and patience is an understatement. He stayed late one night because I had an emergency and was in alot of pain, instead of saying " come in tomorrow " I am going in tomorrow for a chipped tooth and have every confidence that it will be a relaxing experience. My husband pays for it so he may not be so relaxed, but we bought better dental insurance, just so we could afford this dentist. I thought the staff was incredible !!! I had the same dentist since I was about 5 and he finally took a much needed retirement. I was scared to death of dentists due to my aged, family dentist, but no more. I like to look out the window,and watch the squirrels and birds that they feed, very relaxing . They will not let you be in pain either while they work on you, which is a blessing for some one like me with a low tolerance of pain. I had a 3 root canal, filling and crown and never did they let me begin to be in pain.
