I have been a patient with DrBanakis for a few years and every time I'm there I have such a…read morewonderful experience. He explains everything very well and his staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I would recommend anyone to go see Dr Banakis.

From the moment Dr. Banakis came in the room, I was treated like a liar about my teeth being broken…read moreduring cancer surgery at Mayo Clinic, & that I had a referral to him from my Dentist, which I had with me & uploaded ahead of time, & that my Dentist was trying to preserve my teeth instead of capping them over the last 3 years, said "I don't know Dr. *****", then later states the first name of my dentist whom he claimed he never heard of. (I've been with my dentist for 51 years, & found out they golf together from my Dentist). I was at this appointment to rule out more cancer & TMJ problems, with ear pain & pressure radiating from ear, jaw & neck. My referring Dentist put on the referral for Banakis to do a CT of my TMJ, which Banakis refused to do, saying that even if he gave me one, he doesn't read them. Then tells the assistant to put on my record that I definitely do not have anything going on with my TMJ & there are no health issues. I had told him that there could be something in my Parotid Gland, & he said no. Then he bills me for $280 for this consultation that made me very uncomfortable & upset & just a waste of my time & money. Should be billed as a medical consult, but billing putting into my medical that they are dental, with the billing department saying that Oral Surgeons are all dental. They are not. And this was medical. I have loved my Dentist for 51 years. I like my current dentist. But this Oral Surgeon was horrible, & robbed me of $280 for nothing. I went to another Oral Surgeon who was absolutely great, & did not rob me for a consult, & even did a surgery on me that was needed with something that she & a dental hygienist saw right away, that Banakis did not even address. And.....it was medical & coded as such, something Banakis should have done. And, I do have issues with the TMJ & the Parotid Gland, & something else, that Banakis just blew off & put on my record that I had none of the above. Obviously I DO NOT recommend Schaumburg Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, or Dr. Banakis based on my experience. I never write reviews, but this one really was upsetting, as this is my health & money. Cancer is serious & I am a cancer patient & need to have medical & dental in my life that listen, understand, & treat their patients with the same respect as they wish to be treated. I got the impression that the only patients that they want to deal with are those that will be a huge income from major surgery right off the bat, & that anything else is wasting their time. If your jaw isn't moving at all, & you can't open your mouth to eat, you will be listened to because it is a big money ticket, & major surgery on you. Dr. Banakis told me that if I had TMJ problems, I wouldn't be able to open my mouth, have severe pain biting & eating & pretty much unable to do anything with my mouth. That is incorrect. This tells me that he only wants the severe cases with no where else to turn but to expensive surgery. Instead of also helping those that have a less severe case which doesn't require surgery yet. And putting on my file that I have nothing wrong, at all, and sending me on my way??? Without any proof of that??? Make your own choice on seeing this surgeon. But my personal experience was not acceptable to me or my current Oral Surgeon.

I put off getting my wisdom teeth extracted until my 30's.. given that I believe most get theirs…read moreextracted in their late teens or 20's, I was a bit apprehensive to say the least. I was actually referred to Dr. Ads and his team by my dentist, Dr. Waheed. I cannot thank the both of them for this 'opportunity'. No one looks forward to going to the dentist or even an oral surgeon to say the least, but let me remind you that perception is key. Starting from the initial consultation all the way until after the procedure, Dr. Ads and his staff surpassed even my expectations which is saying quite a whole lot. I have had a nervous tick about surgery since I was little and while Dr. Ads reassured me all would be fine, I was still hard to convince, but when the big day came, I felt zero pain from the surgery itself. I am still in recovery as this occurred a little over 2.5 weeks ago. I will like to note that Dr. Ads does indeed provide his contact information to reach him directly even after-hours should anything arise, which is exactly what did happen - I developed the dreaded dry socket, not by any of my doing, but the clot just never formed unfortunately in one of my four extraction sites. The pain was beyond excruciating, Dr. Ads offered to take me in immediately the following day and gave me the special packing that alleviated the pain within 10-15 minutes and had me come back a few days later to remove it; this was a week ago. Since then, recovery has been fine, just maintaining oral irrigation on the sites to make sure no food/debris get lodged. Each time when I did go in to Dr. Ads at OralMax (I went 5 times; first was for the initial consultation, second was the surgery, third was a drop-in due to some pain, fourth time was coming in due to discovering dry socket and application of oral-pack to alleviate pain, fifth time was removal of the oral-pack and post-op followup and release) he and his staff are the absolute benchmark of patient care. I cannot say I ever look forward to having any more oral surgery, however if I ever needed it, I would come back here again without hesitation or worry. They have earned my business and I will be referring anyone that requires it, to go to Dr. Ads and his team. Thank you Dr. Ads and the OraMax Team.

Years ago, all 4 of my kids…read morehad their wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Ads at Oramax and everything was good for the most part. When I was told I had to go to an oral surgeon for issues with my 19 year old implant, I figured I'd go to Oramax being that my past experience was good. My appointment was 10/2/25 with Dr. Ads. I had an xray done and the Dr said I needed to have the implant replaced but being that he could tell how shocked and stressed I was about the situation, he recommended meeting with another Dr about possible laser treatment for the issue first. As I was leaving, I asked him if I could still get a quote/estimate for replacing the implant. On Monday 10/6, I called the office to ask if I could have the panoramic x-ray sent to me. Being that this is a big procedure, I just wanted to get a second opinion. I was told that I didn't have a panoramic x-ray, that it was a CT scan. I told her whatever it was that I had last Friday, can I get a copy of that. She said it would have to be put on a disc and picked up after 24 hours. I also told her I was waiting for an estimate and she said I should have that within a few days. On Thursday 10/9 I called to see if the disc was ready for pick up. The women didn't know what I was talking about. She looked at my file and said I had a panoramic x-ray and said it could just be emailed over (OMG, that's what I said the first time and I was told I was wrong). She did email that over. I then told her I was still waiting for an estimate since last week. She connected me to someone in the billing department. The women told me I would need an implant removal, bone graphing and implant replacement. She assured me that she would get me an estimate Friday (the following day, 10/10) morning. On Wednesday 10/15, being that I still had not heard from anyone, I called to leave a message for the dr. The receptionist asked what I was leaving a message regarding and I said I had questions about the implant. She wanted to know what the exact questions were. I told her I wanted to know the urgency to do the procedure and listed off a few more questions. She said fine and that she'd have the Dr call me. It is now Monday 10/20/25 and I have no received a quote OR a call from the Dr!! Very disappointing!!!!! I have read negative comments about the office staff many times but figured since the Dr is the one that does the work and he's always highly recommended, I'd continue to struggle through the difficulty with the staff. There's always a chance they didn't relay the message to him but at this point I'm pretty much done. I'd rather not spend thousands of dollars at a place where I feel disrespected.

After scheduling online, I received a confirmation call from Jessica at the Schaumburg office. I asked a straightforward question: if I moved my aligner appointment to Oct 18, would I incur a fee? Instead of giving a clear yes/no, Jessica gave evasive answers, referenced unrelated scenarios (like a tooth being pulled), and brought up "three levels of cleaning." When I asked again for clarity, she seemed aggravated. I even asked, respectfully: "Do you understand what I'm asking, or should I explain it differently so it's clear?" At that point, Jessica hung up on me. As a new patient, this was unacceptable. It created the impression that the office is more concerned with structuring visits to maximize charges than providing straightforward, transparent answers. Patients deserve honesty, professionalism, and respect -- not evasive responses, irritation, and being hung up on. This experience has raised serious concerns about Aspen Dental's priorities and whether patient care is truly their focus.

Matthew did his best to calm me during the procedure. The bad: Dr Colby seemed very rushed on both my visits. His bedside manner leaves a little to be desired, and while I didn't expect this to be a walk in the park I think he could have shown more empathy when I was clearly panicking during the procedure. Frankly, he didn't seem to care that I was having very hard time, I had to ask for a break not the other way around. The bad: Billing - I asked the desk for a pre-treatment coverage verification last year due to the cost of the procedure and was told "we don't do those for MetLife - they take too long" even though I was not scheduled to return for four months. On my second visit, I asked for a down payment exception and the office manager Laurie was downright hostile when I did so, barely entering the room to speak to me and shouting "25% is the best I can do!" before storming off. When I asked her to please review the coverage description that I had printed and brought with me, she quite literally refused. What a way to treat to patients. I will never return to this facility and hope the owner who has worked so hard to build his practice gets closer to his patients to observe how they are being treated by his own employees.
