Anywhoo... this place is nice enough but its definitely more a family shop then professional office location is in a south Schaumburg strip mall and seems oddly designed. The admin staff seem okay but had a habit of not returning calls for 3 or so days which I was not a fan of in terms of service level. From the moment Dr. Banakis came in the room, I was treated like a liar about my teeth being broken…read moreduring cancer surgery at Mayo Clinic, & that I had a referral to him from my Dentist, which I had with me & uploaded ahead of time, & that my Dentist was trying to preserve my teeth instead of capping them over the last 3 years, said "I don't know Dr. *****", then later states the first name of my dentist whom he claimed he never heard of. (I've been with my dentist for 51 years, & found out they golf together from my Dentist). I was at this appointment to rule out more cancer & TMJ problems, with ear pain & pressure radiating from ear, jaw & neck. My referring Dentist put on the referral for Banakis to do a CT of my TMJ, which Banakis refused to do, saying that even if he gave me one, he doesn't read them. Then tells the assistant to put on my record that I definitely do not have anything going on with my TMJ & there are no health issues. I had told him that there could be something in my Parotid Gland, & he said no. Then he bills me for $280 for this consultation that made me very uncomfortable & upset & just a waste of my time & money. Should be billed as a medical consult, but billing putting into my medical that they are dental, with the billing department saying that Oral Surgeons are all dental. They are not. And this was medical. I have loved my Dentist for 51 years. I like my current dentist. But this Oral Surgeon was horrible, & robbed me of $280 for nothing. I went to another Oral Surgeon who was absolutely great, & did not rob me for a consult, & even did a surgery on me that was needed with something that she & a dental hygienist saw right away, that Banakis did not even address. And.....it was medical & coded as such, something Banakis should have done. And, I do have issues with the TMJ & the Parotid Gland, & something else, that Banakis just blew off & put on my record that I had none of the above. Obviously I DO NOT recommend Schaumburg Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, or Dr. Banakis based on my experience. I never write reviews, but this one really was upsetting, as this is my health & money. Cancer is serious & I am a cancer patient & need to have medical & dental in my life that listen, understand, & treat their patients with the same respect as they wish to be treated. I got the impression that the only patients that they want to deal with are those that will be a huge income from major surgery right off the bat, & that anything else is wasting their time. If your jaw isn't moving at all, & you can't open your mouth to eat, you will be listened to because it is a big money ticket, & major surgery on you. Dr. Banakis told me that if I had TMJ problems, I wouldn't be able to open my mouth, have severe pain biting & eating & pretty much unable to do anything with my mouth. That is incorrect. This tells me that he only wants the severe cases with no where else to turn but to expensive surgery. Instead of also helping those that have a less severe case which doesn't require surgery yet. And putting on my file that I have nothing wrong, at all, and sending me on my way??? Without any proof of that??? Make your own choice on seeing this surgeon. But my personal experience was not acceptable to me or my current Oral Surgeon.

The Emergency Center I tried was using up all my insurance plus expecting me to charge lots of work...when ALL I wanted was 1 tooth out of pain! Because I Trust Dr. Eskoz, I visited his office in Lake in the Hills, which had a Great time slot open.... to seek his HELP and advice regarding my situation! Dr. Eskoz ... was very thorough and helpful by carefully checking the tooth in pain, and the work that was started by this Emergency Center...! The consultation he gave me I found priceless! I do not recommend this dentist or his staff. I went to my own dentist with pain and he referred me…read moreto Dr. Eskoz. My dentist called his office while I was yet in the chair. I heard the entire conversation. Included in that conversation he told the receptionist to hold the 3:45 appointment open for me and he told her that I would call her as well. As soon as I left my dentist's office I called Dr. Eskoz. All I got was an answering machine. I left a message saying who I was and I was confirming that I wanted the3:45 appointment and I left my phone # for them to contact me. At 3:45 I arrive at Dr. Eskoz office and went to speak to the receptionist and explained who I was and that My dentist had asked that they hold the 3:45 appointment for me. She said, "no he didn't" She may not have realized it but I heard him say that. She then told me, (in a rather snotty manner) that Dr. Eskoz was not in this office today and that I would have to have been at the appointment at 3:15 any way. I then explained that I had called several hours ago to confirm the appointment but I only reached an answering machine. So, I left a message. She then told said, "We've been very busy all day, we haven't listened to our messages." Is it my fault she didn't listen to the messages?! Especially when she should be expecting a call/referral from another dentist. The only reason I can come up with for making a new appointment at this dentist is that I was in bad pain and felt desperate. The appointment was for 2 days later! Thank goodness I had some pain killers left from my regular dentist to get me through. I arrived early for the next appointment. When Dr. Eskoz came in he explained that he would put me on an antibiotic and not start the root canal until the following Tuesday. I knew I would never make it as far as pain. I could not function already and I told him so. He prescribed some more pain meds. I was not happy but felt I had no choice. On my way home I find I had a message on my cell phone. The receptionist said Do not fill the prescription, do not take that medication. Apparently they felt there was possible problems with another medicine I was taking. I called the office back and got the receptionist but the office was closed and everyone else had left. I told her I can not possibly go through the long weekend with this pain (Thanksgiving weekend-4 days, office closed). She said she would call Dr. Eskoz and get back to me. Dr. Eskoz never got back to me. He didn't care that I was facing a long weekend of horrible pain. I filled the prescription anyway. I had already used this pain medicine with out any negative effects and I could barely stand the pain WITH this medicine. I think it was the following day that the receptionist said I could come in one day earlier, Monday afternoon instead of Tuesday afternoon. BIG WHOOP! I asked if Dr. Eskoz can't get me in any earlier than that, would he give me a prescription for something else? She said, " No, because you took the other medication when he told you not to, he won't give you anything. You can take Advil." So.... now he feels he has to discipline me for not wanting to be in pain while he goes home to his family for the Holiday weekend. Had he been a compassionate person, which in his line of business he should be, he would have called me back with another option so that I too could enjoy the weekend. He could have opened up the tooth right away, at that appointment. Yes that would have taken 1-2 hours but that would have relieved me of the pain. I'm venturing a guess, but I think no one wanted to delay their plans for the weekend. Who cares if a patient is in pain. Even if everything else had gone smoothly, I have to say, there is no warmth with any of the girls behind the desk. The one was downright cocky. People are imperfect and make mistakes. But this was bad attitude and selfishness.

I was told at the end of May that a refund check would be sent to me. I had a filling done back in May and I paid the amount they estimated I would owe. Got the bill from the insurance and I should have only paid half the amount that was estimated. No big deal. I called and was told my card would be refunded or a check would be sent. Two months later- Nothing! The sad part is this is not the first time this has happened. Back in 2016 I had to have a filling and the same thing happened. Same amount of money stolen from me because they claimed the insurance would not pay as much as they actually did. They even went after my dad for money for my account. I have dental insurance and my cleanings are fully covered. My dad was told I had an outstanding balance. First, I am a grown adult. They should not be telling my dad anything. Second, I never received a bill in the mail and they have never charged me for dental cleanings in the 5 years I have had my own insurance. I am going to call tomorrow and give them another chance to make this right. As of now they have overcharged me about $130 over the past 2 years and I am not happy about it.
