A large tree recently fell on my house, punching a 6 by 8 foot hole in the roof and taking out part of the ceiling in the master bed room. Mark1 was recommended by my insurance company (New Jersey Manufacturing). I wasn't familiar with Mark1, but I wasn't disappointed. They showed up next day and got to work. When the carpenter shows up 45 minutes late to do a job, and the first thing he says to you is, "What am I doing?" there isn't much further downhill a company can go. He said his work orders are "often difficult to discern". So there are many levels of incompetence within the company. Also, every time I talk to someone at this company it is someone new. So I am constantly having to re-explain what is going on with my home. I have little to no confidence in them and will never be using them again. read more

My insurance USAA selected Mark 1 to do water mitigation. They came same day to meet me and several days later scheduled with my tenants to come back and get drying equipment. The RESPOND to both phone and text which nowadays is worth an extra point for many repair type businesses. They kept dust and dirt to a minimum and only removed as much damaged wall and trim as was needed. The price was reasonable. read more

My condo was badly damaged by flood 3 floor above which was caused by condensing pipe burst. The initial water mitigation company demolished several dry walls, ceilings , ripped off carpet. Many belongings were damaged, had to through away. Since it happened in July, many companies, contractors were booked up. Or reluctant to come to Center City with parking problems, logistics with condo association. Amongst despair and depression, through the insurance company, I had an opportunity to work with Mark 1 team. The most significant matter for me was their time consciousness, arriving every day on time at 8 AM, working diligently till 6 PM, also you could tell that the team members were willing to help, restore my place, plus I felt they are proud of the work! My place was resurrected by Mark1. The project manager was always pleasant to talk via phone or email, and his team members were simply amazing. It was the best contractor experience in 10 years. As a person who had worked there, it is the definition of a shithole. The owner has absolutely no regard to the wellbeing of the employees and only cares about his profits! He has frequently been described by past customers as overly rude and uncaring. That should say plenty, believe me I could go on and on. When a company goes from having 7 offices, but in less than a year closes 3 of them, and is still downsizing the company while using the pandemic as an excuse that should send a major red flag up!! They are trying to run repair with only 1 carpenter on staff! What does that tell you? I truly hope an insurance affiliate sees this and finally sees this sorry excuse for a "restoration company" that it truly is. If you are a homeowner that has insurance that requires you to use a "program" or "preferred" contractor and uses a 3rd party system to contact them, do yourself a favor and tell them that you do NOT want to use Mark 1. Even with the mitigation. This company is told that they only are getting paid for 3 days of drying and that's it. So if on the 3rd day the guys come back to get the equipment and your house isn't dry, oh well. They still pull the equipment and leave your house in a dangerous position. This company is only interested in one thing, profits! And the owner is looking to close this company down soon anyway, so do yourself a giant favor and avoid the nightmare that is Mark 1. Had heavy heavy soot damage throughout entire house. Now the field manager J.R. who came to my house decided my kids and family sucking in toxic soot fumes wasn't important enough to prepare an estimate so that took well over a month. Then he didn't answers emails or return calls yet I was somewhat locked into them. He then decides to never send put a contract hence lawsuit is about to begin. He decided to run and hide because it's a hack operation for quick bucks and crap work. This guy should in no way be in charge as not man enough to face anything head on. They over bid the job they were suppose to do by thousands of dollars and way over the hours ‼ The actual hours the worked total was 4 and that's being nice. The guys that came out to fix my wall were nice but spent way more time talking then working . They took months to come out and actually do the job and they expected to be paid for work they didn't even do !! After an email sent stating that we replaced some of the things on the list they slightly adjusted the amount due . But again expected to be paid within that week . We did let our insurance company know to NEVER put another client in contact with this company . I would suggest that anyone who comes in contact with this company to run the other way!! Horrible work performed and they didn't even finish the job that they promised to complete within 3 weeks. Then, 9 months later they want full payment immediately? They left our home with crooked and unfinished trim, nails stuck between the trim and the wall?, squeaky floors and of course they found extra work to be done to add to the charges which they based off of the insurance payment that we received. Unprofessional and poor quality work with no follow up. The manager then says he didn't have my phone number to call me BUT it was listed twice on the invoice that he sent me on day one! Wish you could dish stars in the negative! DO NOT go with this company! Forget enemies, I wouldn't recommend Mark1 to the Devil himself! I am convinced these "contractors" can't even build a sandcastle. They should be called demolishoners. As soon as they enter your home to repair something all they will do is destroy something else and then laugh about it afterward. They had to keep coming back to our home three times over a small water leak which turned into them destroying the whole perimeter of our home. This should have been the most simple task for any basic contractor. The hole in my ceiling looked better than the massive speed bumps on my ceiling and destruction around my home they left us with. Even my insurance company (which they tried to cheat inflating the end price and claimed things that were never done) was appalled and could not stop apologizing on their behalf. Denny the part owner is no better than his workers and laughed in front of our insurance company after the ceiling needed a FOURTH repair which we rejected their work and went with ACTUAL PROFESSIONAL contractors who know what they are doing. Don't let your insurance company try to push Mark1 onto you like mine did. It was only after it was too late before I found all of the terrible reviews about Mark1. How any insurance company still has them as a choice/ under their program is more of a mystery than if Atlantis really exists. Don't put yourself through turmoil. My leak happened in January and was repaired in August. Pathetic scumbags! Karma's a bitch and I hope when they get theirs they see all the faces of everyone they did so damn dirty! They ran up the bill and acted like jerks to my wife and then lied to me about the conversation.... 0 stars if that is an option! We were in contract with Mark1 and sent in our first check. 5 days later they "found a mistake" and we were going to be owing more money than initially told. When I questioned the point of a contract, I was told they can pull out if they choose to do so. This company was extremely unprofessional and would highly recommend that you do not use them. Would not recommend this company outta emaus pa. My insurance company called them for an emergency tarp job in case of rain. The guy comes over tapes over where the leak was and didn't tarp. A few days later it rained badly and I checked in the attic and the water was dripping on my ceiling again. I called them up cause the guy who did the work said any problems call him up and he will come right back up. A different guy on call for weekend called me. I told him the problem and he said they can't do anything without authorization from my adjuster who doesn't work weekends to get approval to come out a second time. I said why do you need approval to fix the screw up you did the first time. He said he had to get paid for that. So I asked nicely so what do I do. He told me to get up on the roof myself and fix it. Keep in my there was a rain storm but that's what I had to do to assure there was no further damage. I called to complain and someone higher up called me back and said that's procedure. So my insurance company paid them 442.00 for screwing up the tarp job and I have a claim on file because the first guy said it wasn't covered under my insurance. Needless to say my neighbor who is a roofer put roof cement around the vent and no more leak. Unbelievable unprofessional bad workmanship and lousy attitude. Purchased a home this past fall that had been restored by Mark 1. after a fire The back sliding door seemed heavy at the time of purchase, but was functional and Ok. It has gotten progressively worse to the point where my wife needs me to open it and I can't imagine how it could just be a coincidence after the extensive work that had been done. Mark 1 claimed that the door was working fine and documented such. I contacted the contractor that had worked with the previous owner numerous times, but never got a response back which really triggered this whole process. A simple call or email back would have sufficed and b/c of the further time I had to spend seeking a seemingly simple response or some sort of resolution, I did not find it appropriate to stop there and just forget about it. I resorted to contacting my realtor, the seller's realtor, and the seller themselves to contact Mark 1 on my behalf, which was wonderful of them. They told the seller that they stand by their work and that it was inspected and found to be in proper working order. Yes, proper if one were to want to purposefully acquire a hernia. I went on to contact the BBB and filed a complaint. Mark 1 responded in much the same way as before. If you want poor (to no) communication and questionable work, look no further. It seems the only consistent communication you get will be from a marketing director after there is a problem that is brought to a light through third party means.
