I've been to lots of all inclusive adult only resorts and this is my least favorite. Not much to do, lack of pool seating and lack of top shelf liquor. However, our room had a spectacular pool/oceanfront view. Food wasn't anything to write home about.

The most important decision you will ever make is to be in a good mood. This view is a mood changer.

Punta de Mita is such a lovely area outside of the hustle and bustle of Puerto Vallarta. Marival Armony is relatively new and had opened during Covid. And only recently in March did they become an all inclusive adult only resort. I will note trying to do things online before our trip was not convenient. It took several tries to try to book spa services and reach concierge. However on site, they are accommodating from scheduling Covid testing before departures, setting up dinner reservations, and arranging airport taxis. A bit of trek from airport, so plan about 30-45 minutes commute. Upon check in, you will get approached about potentially buying a timeshare during the overview of the resort but they are kind when you do decline. The resort is situated amidst new construction but well maintained, immaculate, and well staffed. Definitely recommend the Sierra Suites which are closer to the spa (refer to separate review) and more secluded. Spacious with panoramic views of the resort. You also have access to two pools and a fire pit area away from the main infinity pool. With over 4-5 restaurants on site, it can be a bit overwhelming since they are on varying time, schedules and dates of availability. Kudos to the chef because everything is yummy and quite delish. However, not too many options for vegans. For buffet lovers, stick to La Brise which has amazing seafood stew. For sunbathers, Drops has the best seafood tostada. Essence has the best salmon and rack of lamb entree. My favorite restaurant is Insu, the international tapas venue. You'll have the most variety and taste of flavors here. The dessert tray was perfect size and sample of three different carb goodness. Overall it felt like a soft opening of the resort. There is so much potential. Don't overthink it. Keep it simple. Definitely recommend if you are looking to recharge and restore. Self care is a necessity. Stay here. Stay on vacation mode. Sea la vie.

This is a stunningly beautiful property on the Pacific. Lovely pools, beautifully maintained grounds. Our room was quite dated but the view was spectacular. If you are a food snob like me though, bring your own. I bought into the all inclusive meals and found the food to be widely mediocre. (Except the hash browns, whoever is making those needs a raise.) Also, be warned that anything you buy in the little shop is insanely overpriced. And be aware you will need mucho pesos for tipping. And tip well, because working in that heat would be excruciating. And, as a last word, unlimited alcohol in the form of an open bar is a terrible idea. I hope the incapacitated man I found on the walkway outside my room is okay! I will not ever stay in another all inclusive resort. It's a land cruise.

My wife and I visited Marival Armory in July of 2021 and overall had an incredible time. It was our first time in Puerta Vallarta and we would definitely love to come back. I want to get the bad stuff out of the way first. When you first arrive, you are greeted by folks who seem like concierge but are actually trying to sell you a time share. We declined but were pressured to the point where we put down the $20 deposit just so we could go relax. When we tried to get the money back the next morning, it was like pulling teeth. Eventually, one of the employees told us to just go through the pitch and lie so that they could get their commission. Because we were being pressured so heavily, we went to the free breakfast and sat through the pitch and bailed. We had saved up for years to go on this trip and just wanted to enjoy it. This definitely put a sour taste in our mouth from the get go. Other than the awful time share experience, we had an incredible time. The resort grounds were beautiful and well kept. The spa services we enjoyed were divine. And all of the employees (except those involved in the time share situation) were very kind to us. We would love to go back, but probably won't as it seems like the time share system is still in place.

Hotel and pools are beautiful. The layout of the hotel and views are amazing. Customer service is a joke! We checked in and everything went smoothly but right after that 2 ladies offered to book breakfast for the following day and I thought they were from concierge but little did I know they were trying to sell me a time share (which I asked twice and they denied) so they call it membership instead cause they know people will run. I spent 3 days trying to get my deposit and every single day they gave me different story. I requested to speak to the manager and they suddenly gave me my 20.00 deposit back. I should have known better but didn't realize it was a membership offer. They have plenty of employees just walking around and not really doing much for the customers. Definitely not a 5 star hotel. I have stayed at a 3 star hotel and have received better service than this place. They require reservations at dinner time and their portions and very small. They have very few customers and your meal takes 60-80 minutes to arrive. For the money I paid I expect excellent customer service. I will never return to this hotel and will discourage you to stay here. I travel to Mexico once a year and have never received this service. I spoke to 2 other families and they had the same experience as us. We decided to take family pictures and the photographer was awesome and I will be booking with him directly in the future. Please take your business elsewhere if you want to have a nice pleasant relaxing vacation.

We are there with ILT golf vacations end of Feb 2023. This place is beautiful. I read so many negative reviews and started feeling maybe we should not have spent so much for this. The beds are comfortable, but only 2 pillows per bed. Very clean, and excellent attentive maid service. We reserved a garden view, but it was partial ocean view. It was building 1, second floor. Nice and quiet, as I am a light sleeper. Its a bit of a walk to beach and several short sets of stairs. To avoid most steps stay on right walking path, it's just a slope. Food was excellent and so fresh. Produce and berries, tropical fruit was amazing. Try the French toast. Fresh squeezed assortment of juices. Staff super nice and attentive. I do not know why I saw so many negative reviews that caused me concern. It was outstanding. Beach chairs and umbrellas available in morning and later afternoon. Give the beach attendant a dollar or 2 and he will set up chairs and umbrella. They're very accommodating. You get free use of boogie boards, kyacks and paddle boards. You can rent hobie cats and jet skis. Sun is intense, beware. Many fried people there.

It was pure relaxation and amazing vibes all around. The property is truly stunning from the rooms, to the restaurants, the pools, the beach (our favorite), and the spa (absolutely must book something at the Spa to experience it). The excursion we booked was great and very easy to coordinate as you can book through the hotel. Truly what made this trip so special though was staff. They were absolutely amazing and all so kind. From the front to desk to wait staff to spa to bellhops. A couple special shoutouts below and I hope whoever is reading this gets to meet them: Itza: AMAZING poolside service. We loved getting to know her and she was so kind to us and remembered our orders after the first day so we would come down to the pool or back from the beach and have our drinks waiting for us. Augustino: Incredibly friendly and anticipated everything we could need. He had waters waiting for us at our chairs, drink refills just as we finished our current drinks, great food recommendations, and even better conversations. Gabby: At venazu she was our waitress on our first night and she was so fun to talk to. We chatted with her throughout the rest of our stay and is so much fun! Marco: FANTASTIC bartender at the living room bar. Was so nice chatting with him and having him make some cocktails or trying new liquors we haven't had before. Leiti & Gustavo: Both were fantastic at the front desk from check-in to check-out. We stopped by a few times throughout our stay to check on things and they were always so kind and helpful. Estella & Josue: Both helped us coordinate transportation to and from the airport and also an excursion to the marietas islands (you MUST go). Josue was so detail oriented and very easy to work with and Estella was amazing too. We will definitely be coming back again and making it a yearly trip :)

3.5 star hotel at a 4 star price!…read more W Punta de Mita is a fine hotel, tucked about 45 minutes away from Puerto Vallarta on a no traffic day, and maybe 75 minutes if there is bad weather. Two pools, one for all ages and another solely for adults. I think there were really only 4 restaurants in the entire hotel site. Chevycheria, which is a beach ceviche spot. Spice Market, which was Vietnamese. Venazu, which admittedly I didn't visit. And Rubra, which has a $200.00 tasting menu. There's also the pool food, which was perfectly adequate. If you're more of a vacationer than a traveler, then I think you'll find your stay here more than enjoyable. It is a hassle trying to get an uber to get you to the airport or to puerto vallarta, but there are also 2 or 3 other hotels in the area, so there may be drivers around. Regarding my experience, I was slightly annoyed that I didn't get a Marriot Elite upgrade to my room (the hostess said since I booked with points, that was a no-go). In reading someone else's Yelp review, they mentioned they at least got free breakfasts, which annoys me even more now since I wasn't offered that. Cleaning was spotty, as the first day the room wasn't cleaned until 6:00pm or so. The next day the room wasn't even cleaned at all. Overall, not an incredibly huge fan.

Let me give you a run down of this hotel…read more.. Rooms: Awesome rooms. The air conditioning here was better than any resort I've been to (& that's a lot). The beds were comfy and the WiFi was decent in most areas of the room. The couch can be arranged into a bed which was useful. TV and drinks in mini fridge are appreciated. The tub had jets and the soaps provided smelled good. My only complaint is that the pillows were of no use! Food: The food at this resort is better than other resorts I've been to as well. The servers and chefs are all very nice. You can always expect great cuts of meat. The specialty restaurants had amazing menus and such great food!!! What annoyed me, though, is that the specialty restaurants do not uphold a dress code. While I spent time to dress presentably, other people walked in before me in work out clothes and shorts and basically everything you weren't supposed to wear. Don't know why management lets that happen. Also, the booze here is good stuff! You can expect good liquor. Pools: Here's where we start to lose stars. The pool area is relatively small compared to other places. It got full during the day and was honestly pretty annoying. To put this into perspective, don't even think about bringing pool floats. What I look forward most to on my vacations is relaxing by the pool and unfortunately I wasn't able to do that here...

Do not stay here. Waist of money. They say it's a 5 star hotel and i would say a 1 star hostel has…read morebetter amenities than this place. First there is no where on the property to relax. Your room is fine at night but once you are sick of the party at the pool and want to relax you will hear the loud club music come through your room. There is a "quiet" pool on property but quiet it is not. You will be bombarded by people bringing their loud speakers or locals that have day passes for, not kidding, 17 pesos ($1) singing out of key drunk the entire time there. When you ask security to ask them to move to the loud pool they never come. Again not asking them to be kicked out everyone vacations differently but asking them to go where there is a pool specifically for their style vacation. However, the resort encourages this by playing loud party music at the quiet pool most of the time. By the way bet it doesn't say anywhere online when you book that the first night at a so called 5 star hotel you will be told that your first day you have to eat at the buffet and there are no other options for you because the booking system shuts down at 3pm right as you check in. Don't get me wrong to be honest the buffet is the only good food you will have the whole trip so after staying here I see why. The restaurants are terrible food. Not to mention half will be closed due to not being at capacity. Forcing you to not have options when you pick where you want to eat. The worse by far is the Asian restaurant. I do want to say service 50% of the time is fantastic at restaurants but sometimes it's barely can be called service. Alcohol. You will not get what you paid for. Liquor is watered down forcing you to stick to things that can't be altered like wine or beer and not always the best for a long day at the pool. The pool will be broken 90% of the time with so much junk pushed into the pools from drinks. And the staff at night will just push all the stuff off the pool into it vs into the brush. Which was disgusting. You will be forced to be in their timeshare presentation and if you decline they will hound you daily until you do. Even if you politely decline several times. I also met several that are a part of the palladium travel club and their experiences are not worth a penny they already spent. Oh and we had a poisonous scorpion in our room on the second night. When we asked the staff they said they never see them. We thought we had been stung so we went to the doctor and he said they are there all the time. Why the need to lie about scorpions I get it we are in the jungle. Overall this resort (better referred to as a brothel) has gone down hill massively since we last stayed in 2017. Do not waste your money. If you would like to stay here fly to Mexico and find a travel agent in the city so you can take advantage of the cheaper pricing because to spend more than $1 a day here is way over spent. Stay here at your own risk because the staff will laugh at you if you bring your concerns to them and complain. If you are a local that wants a turn up party you will love this place it's cheap and so is the resort. If I could give them negative stars I would.

The property is beautifully maintained and everyday, we saw crews trimming the hedges just right, fixing one of their many water fountains, and raking the sand. Prior to our arrival I arranged transportation to/from the airport and the directions provided were very precise. Upon entering the gate for the resort, you are ensconced with the beautiful, lush greenery of the property. The property is huge as it shares the golf course with multiple resorts within the gates to include the Four Seasons. On your first trip to the property, it is a rather long drive as they want you to take in your surroundings, however, during your stay if you leave the property, they take a shorter exit. When we arrived, we were escorted to the veranda where we were welcomed by the lovely Jessica, who went over our reservation and explained the property. We were asked if we would like the NYT and USA Today daily and we chose the paper edition of both. We were excited to have a full printed newspaper that we could enjoy during breakfast. After about 20 minutes, we were shown to our room and within 10 minutes, Jaime, our assigned butler, arrived to go over their services as well as the room. We had a huge garden view room with a partial view of the ocean that included a private balcony as well as an outdoor shower that was lovely. Having a butler was very nice because you could text them for anything. I especially liked that each day, you could get 2 items pressed per person and they will also run you a bubble bath with salts which came in handy after a full day of excursions. The only complaint we had for the rooms was that the toilet lids did not soft close and instead, slammed down and also, they have the cheap Conair hair dryers, the ones that smell like it's going to catch fire if you use it for too long. I made the mistake of leaving behind my travel hair dryer and I implore you do not leave yours behind as you will regret it. The next day we awoke to discover that the "printed paper" left in our door handle, were just photocopies of each paper and not the whole paper either, so that was a bit disappointing. When we arrived for breakfast, another disappointment was that the free breakfast was only for the buffet. Although they have a menu, it is not free if you order from it. That was shocking because one of our favorite resorts is the Waldorf in Cabo and our breakfast could be ordered from the menu and their food was gourmet and delicious! As we were headed to the pool, I did not see a beach bag in our closet and when we contacted the butler, we were told that they do not provide beach bags! But guess who does, The Waldorf in Cabo! I had several beach bags at home and left them because I assumed the St. Regis would have provided one. Seriously, for the amount of money you pay per night, that is the least they could do. They do have 3 pools on property and only 1 is for adults only which was nice. The chairs are on a first come basis, so each day, we stopped by before breakfast to claim our chairs as we did not want to get stuck with a chair without umbrellas. When you look at the menu, it states that they provide fresh, complimentary snacks daily and that was so far from the truth. Only one day, did they bring around skewers of fresh melon, which I cannot eat. The Four Seasons Wailea, brings their guests fresh snacks, ice cream and etc, about every hour while you are hanging out poolside. The only thing St. Regis provided were complimentary ice buckets filled with bottles of water which was needed and very much appreciated. During our stay, we stopped by the spa and had a wonderful couples massage from Diana and Taymi. Their usher Neidit was also very nice and helpful with the lockers. While we had a wonderful and relaxing stay, it would have been nice if they had a lounge area to hangout or something to do on property. They do have several bars you can enjoy and we did enjoy hanging out with the guys in the lobby bar. The entire staff and the drivers were top notch and very professional. Thank you Alejandro for trying to find Luna (the resort cat) for us!

Our transfer dropped us off at the entrance to the resort where we were greeted by an employee who led us to the check-in desk and informed us that our bags would be sent to our room. Initially, the employee behind the desk was proceeding to book us into a room on the first floor. My wife is not a fan of the noise that generally accompanies being on the first floor, so she mentioned this to the employee who swiftly booked us a room on the second floor. The resort itself is beautiful, very spacious and has tons of seating through out. Whether you want to be in the party area of the resort or prefer a secluded area where you can relax and read a good book, there are plenty of options. For breakfast and lunch we enjoyed the myriad of food options available at the buffet; fortunately, I scored some very delicious ribs at the lunch buffet on one of the days. Unfortunately, the quantity of food options did not equate to quality and was quite inconsistent on a day to day basis. We dined at both the Mexican restaurant and steakhouse, which were both underwhelming (not sure how Mexican food in Mexico can be bad). If none of these options float your boat, there is also an Italian restaurant and hibachi. Although the lackluster food quality made it easy not to overindulge; to ensure that we weren't unrecognizable after the trip, we consistently utilized the fitness center. There were machines, free weights, and cardio equipment available to get a comprehensive workout in. If you're into spa treatments, there is a spa next door where you can pay for massages and other services. The overall customer service experience was good. However, I have to call-out and give extra kudos to one particular employee....Mayra from the Adelita Lobby Bar (one of our favorite places on the resort to enjoy a drink). From day one Mayra was very attentive and did a great job of checking in with us without hovering. One specific moment stood out to both my wife and I. Mayra overheard that we were celebrating my wife's birthday. Next thing we know, Mayra emerged from the bar area with a cute sized piece of cake with a candle and a mini balloon with a "J" on it (my wife's name is Janee). Mayra went above and beyond the call of duty to not only do this, but also memorized both of our names (which is not easy considering that we do not have traditional names). As long as we have our memories intact, we will never forget the bond that we built with Mayra. Adrian (another employee that generally works at the Adelita Lobby bar), not only makes great drinks (you can see the attention to detail that he puts towards making a drink), but is also very personable. I love when individuals take pride in their work while simultaneously being professional. Our favorite bars on the resort, were the Adelita Lobby Bar, the Sunset Bar (literally the best spot to watch the beautiful sunsets), and the La Duna bar. I would strongly recommend avoiding the swim-up bar, which serves consistently bad drinks (very unfortunate considering how convenient it is). If you're looking for a place to truly relax (if that's your goal), I recommend visiting Iberostar Playa Mita. However, I'm giving the resort three stars because management is adament about pushing a "90 minute presentation" that we declined at least four times because it felt predatory and manipulative (maybe they thought we were too inebriated to realize this).

Yes all inclusive meaning no signing, wondering how much to budget each day, tipping, pushing servers, or any worries till the end when you pay your balance and generously (because they deserve it!!!) tip the staff to the owner/manager so no awkwardness. If you have ever been at another all inclusive or cruise you will know what I am talking about. The water is purified meaning we brushed our teeth, bathed, and ate every last delish vegetable (raw) and not one person in our party ever felt anything but perfect. The grounds are beautifully maintained-I think there is a person who just goes around perfectly trimming leaves everyday! They can arrange for on-site facial/massage or truly anything else you wish. They packed up a lunch/drinks/goodies for a day of fishing and were extremely accommodating. One of my favorite parts is the three perfectly maintained, groomed, behaved, delightful small pups they have on the property. Besides their sweetness you would not even know they were there unless you seek them out! Mark the owner is top notch and has mastered the art of the perfect place to vacation! I know I am going to miss someone (sorry we loved you all) but Robert, Mauricio, Francisco, Charlie, David, (another fabulous server in the afternoon/evening who knew my Rose Vino Preference), and all of the fabulous maintenance/cleaning/kitchen crew were like family-we miss you and can't wait to return!

We were genuinely looking forward to staying at Distrito 88 and had carefully planned this trip…read more The service we received revealed a level of rigidity and indifference that was genuinely alarming. One week before our scheduled arrival, cartel-related violence broke out in the broader region due to the assassination of the leader El Mencho. Public reporting and widely circulated videos showed masked gunmen firing weapons in public streets, vehicles and gas stations set on fire, and road blockades established in multiple areas. The U.S. government issued advisories urging travelers to shelter in place and avoid unnecessary movement. This was not vague travel anxiety. It was documented unrest occurring days before we were set to arrive. I personally spoke with several people who had friends or family visiting the region who feared for their lives. After reviewing the situation at length, we made a safety-based decision not to proceed. Our airline refunded us. Another accommodation on this same trip refunded us. Distrito 88 refused to offer any flexibility on a $1,600 reservation. What was most troubling wasn't simply the refusal. We received repeated, almost scripted responses stating that everything was "happy and vibrant as always" and emphasizing that a "travel advisory is not a travel restriction." Technically, that distinction may be correct. But dismissing legitimate safety concerns less than a week after visible, documented violence I saw with my own eyes felt profoundly unreasonable. There was a complete lack of empathy and no cooperation to even provide a partial refund. We understand that conditions may have improved since those events, and we genuinely hope that is the case for the safety of the local community and visitors alike. However, our decision was made based on the realities at the time- widely reported unrest and official government advisories. It is not reasonable to expect travelers monitoring those developments to disregard them simply because a property assures them that everything is peaceful. We understand cancellation policies during normal circumstances. This was not normal. Hospitality is not only about enforcing fine print, it requires exercising judgment when circumstances change quickly and safety concerns are credible. Instead, the decision conveyed that protecting short-term revenue took precedence over acknowledging a good-faith concern for personal safety. Keeping $1,600 under these conditions may be defensible under policy. It also demonstrates that revenue protection takes priority over legitimate safety concerns raised by guests. This is not the standard of hospitality we expect, or support. Future travelers should consider carefully before booking.

My fiancée & I stayed here a few days before our wedding and had such a blast! Distrito 88 has…read moreroughly 12 rooms and if you are planning a wedding, you can essentially reserve all the rooms so the venue is just your party. Multiple pools which is great and the pool on ground floor is incredible. They make breakfast fresh in the morning for purchase and have lunch options available too during pool time or if you are coming back into town. The staff is so friendly and they even helped us find a passport left behind after we checked out!
