This is the first time in years we've been kicked out of one. We drove there from Boston today for the first time, and heard great things about the place and the farmers' market. As we entered the gate, a banner with a picture of dogs was displayed. We drove on the grass and parked at the rear of the farmers' market. We unloaded our dogs. As we walked through the rear corner of the market, the first vendor sold dog treats and toys. We were browsing around, I was minding the dogs while my wife was looking at vegetables. The owner came over and was very rude and condescending, telling me they do not allow dogs, and proceeded to insist that I was a moron for not seeing a sign that said no dogs allowed. However, all I could see was the rear of the sign, and we had not entered the market that way. We promptly left as asked, again, at their place, their rules. I don't have an issue with that; my problem was with the delivery of the message. My wife and I could have sworn that when we looked at the website months ago, we saw that they welcome dogs, but after revisiting the FAQ page, it is clear that they do not. Our apologies for making the mistake.

It's consistently very good, even though we often trek from our hometown to Bristol, Newport, or Providence for dining. Portsmouth has slim pickings when it comes to quality restaurants--15 Point and Fieldstone's only come to mind. Rocco's used to be on that list, but new ownership makes it a bit of a question mark right now. This place always delivers: a solid menu with a strong emphasis on seafood, a long cocktail list with prices still reasonable for the area ($12-$14), and reliably good service. Portions are generous and the food is consistently well prepared. We split the bacon-wrapped scallops to start, then had duck and a seafood pasta for entrées--both excellent. Highly recommended. And when the weather cooperates, the outdoor dining right on the water is a real bonus.

Our reservation was early enough that we were able to enjoy the gorgeous water views for a little while before the sun set completely. Both the food and service were superb. We each ordered a glass of wine (Relax Riesling for me). We were first served warm, crusty bread and olive oil with roasted garlic cloves. Our appetizers arrived shortly thereafter; we had both ordered the phyllo wrapped baked Brie served with crostini and a dollop of jam. So good and such a large portion that we each brought half home. Again, we each ordered the same for our entrees: a baked half lobster with seafood stuffing, served with a baked sweet potato and asparagus. Despite the amount of food it was so delectable we finished all of it. Dessert was where we differed. My cousin had the Key Lime pie; I had the Beignets, served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. They weren't true Beignets, more like small cinnamon sugar donuts, but absolutely yummy. Needless to say, we left the restaurant totally sated. We're looking forward to returning in the summer so we can enjoy a meal on their patio overlooking the water. Highly recommended!

We fell in love with her, the house, everything including the murder-by-mail story behind the house from the 1800s. About 2 weeks before the party we called Kaitlyn and told her it was going to turn into our surprise wedding! She continued to be so helpful and excited, giving recommendations for all kinds of vendors we'd need. The day of the party she was professional and hands-on, making sure everything got done on a quick timeline. She calmed nerves and had great suggestions on where things should go to make sure everything flowed just right. Our rental price included some tables and linens she had available, and some glassware too. It was so perfect from the start and we couldn't be happier!!

Beautiful historic building who's tour guides added in a true life murder mystery of the lady of the houses death. This really added to the event as it was so my scene and absolutely fun. They also had a whiskey tasting since she was poisoned with whiskey which is ironically amazing. I would def host an event here because unlike the Newport mansions I could touch things and see things in the midst of being historically preserved since they're still restoring the house. Open Doors RI has found a new regular customer :)

Although the price fluctuates slightly during the promotion period, it's currently $59 and normally comes with roasted potatoes & green beans. However, this time I asked if any other sides were available and was told I could have a salad instead. I chose the Caesar salad, which was cold, crisp, perfectly dressed and absolutely delicious. The lobster itself was incredible... sweet, tender and stuffed with lobster tail meat and a buttery Ritz cracker topping. I had enough leftover for 2 additional meals at home. I also enjoyed a nice Riesling with my tablemates, and indulged in a DIY Affogato for dessert; I ordered a scoop of vanilla ice cream and an Espresso and voila! Our server was outstanding and the views, inside and out, were gorgeous. Looking forward to my next visit.

They had a sale going on for a full lobster covered with ritz crackers for $65. That didn't sound appetizing to me but most other tables had it. Probably won't come back but they did have cotton candy with the check which made it fun with the kid.
