I went through my archives and came across this first stop from a past walking tour of Tijuana with a group of friends. You have to stroll through a seedier area of the city to get to this spot. Since we did so in broad daylight, it was less intimidating and I didn't feel unsafe. As implied by the Mariscos name, the place served numerous seafood based items in the form of tacos, tostadas, cocktails, quesadillas and aguachiles. The prices ranged from 15 to 130 pesos ($1 to $7.50) so it was certainly far from expensive.
We had several more food joints to hit up so I only ordered a tostada camaron con pulpo (shrimp with octopus) for 50 pesos. The dish had a nice acidic marinade and came with two saltine crackers. It didn't need any more sauces or spices for my taste. The rest of my party ordered similar fish, octopus, or shrimp tostadas. If you don't mind going off the beaten path and trying a hole in the wall type of establishment, then Mariscos El Choforo might be worth the time and effort. read more
