I would love to give 4 stars because the food was delicious... but unfortunately the service failed. I called to pick up my order and I was told 10-15 min. I arrived at that time and was told to hold on. I waited, waited and waited. The waitresses seemed busy but I felt silly standing and waiting with no update. Finally one woman came up asked if we've been helped, I told her I still have to pay for my pick up order. She finally took my payment and I had to wait yet again.... The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza. Area surrounding the restaurant is rough but the food we got was good. There's plenty of seating and when we went we were seated right away. The menu is in Spanish so be prepared. There is a drum set in the restaurant so at some point I'm assuming there's live music. Molcajete El Chapo - Delicious and flavorful. Definitely a tangy dish. There's cucumbers, cooked shrimp, raw shrimp, octopus, avocado, and red onions. The juice/sauce is perfect. This appetizer comes with tostadas, chips, spicy Mayo, and ketchup. I got the shrimp cocktail here today for lunch and it was so good. The broth is the star of the meal. I'm not sure what they used, but it didn't taste like the usual Clamato that's used in shrimp cocktails. The service was quick, the restaurant is clean and they have an "A" rating. Let me begin by unequivocally saying that the food here is DELICIOUS and there is no other restaurant in the area that does it like El Chapo! Restaurant is always super clean. Also, the outstanding service with attentive and pleasant servers--at first was the draw. Let me get the two negative aspects out of the way before I continue with the very good. We became regulars here beginning August 2019 and we came here every week, if not twice a week for the months following, but then in October we noticed a most unfortunate trend: we would come to the restaurant at posted business hours (10-9 weekdays; 10-10 weekends) and the restaurant was closed on numerous occasions at 6pm, 7pm, and 8pm. The other downside is that the attentive nature of the servers took a dive. we began to notice on several visits the waitresses were not as attentive with the tables. They took VERY long pauses between checking on the table bringing food, drinks, etc. When I brought this to their attention during at least two visits, they said that the owner required them to do many tasks in "back of the house" so they weren't as aware of "front of the house." I personally brought both of these issues to the owner's attention in two of my recent visits. I'm hoping these issues are genuinely corrected because we want to continue regularly patronizing the restaurant we "fell in love with" for its amazing seafood dishes, tasty drinks, and exemplary service.
