If you're looking for a great happy hour, this is definitely the spot! You get a lot for your money…read morewith both the food and drink specials. We stopped by around 3 p.m. on a Wednesday and sat at the bar. It wasn't too busy, which made for a relaxing experience. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. For food, we ordered the fish ceviche, taquitos dorados, and the birria tacos. They definitely don't skimp on the portions. Everything is generously sized and perfect for sharing. I especially loved the salsa that came with the taquitos dorados, and the birria was incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The birria tacos and taquito dorados were easily my favorite and something I'd absolutely order again. Of course, I had to try a few of their margaritas! I sampled the Classic Felipe, Jamaica, and Guava margaritas. The guava margarita was hands down my favorite. Overall, it's a great spot with delicious food, refreshing drinks, generous portions, and excellent happy hour deals. Be sure to check out their happy hour menu, you won't be disappointed!

Portions are not skimp at all and prices were reasonable! My favorite was the shrimp ceviche. I hate to brag, but my ceviche is the best. And tbh, Felipe's is almost as good as mine! Hehehe. Very fresh ingredients with generous portion of shrimp. This was my favorite item we ordered! Tacolgado were mini quesabirria tacos that was perfectly sized to share. This was really good! Then we also ordered the chicken flautas that was really good! The chicken breast was perfectly seasoned and moist but the fried tortilla was not soggy at all. This was so good! The kids enjoyed this the most. Especially the cotija !! So so good. Wednesdays are 50% off their margaritas which I wasn't able to try but next time, I will! The ladies next to us ordered a few and I overheard how they were all good! The restaurant is family friendly, clean and decor was very cute! Service was very attentive and the servers were very quick. We enjoyed our 1st time and definitely plan to come back!

This is for the coffee shop, not the restaurant since I have not tried the restaurant but omg. How…read morehave I not tried this before. I've traveled from LA to AZ for a decade and it's my first time. Jasmine was super sweet and even though they weren't "big" questions, she addressed all my concerns. I'm extra picky with 120° weather. Anyway, both drinks were so yummy. The horchata latte with oat milk was not too sweet and I loved the cinnamon stick garnish. The limon & pepino was so good too. Very natural. From a 0-100 sweet level, I'd say it was 75%. Once the ice melted, the leftover sweetness left a whole new drink for me to enjoy after. Jasmine really made these with so much care and attention. I live in LA, surrounded by coffee shops. These flavors are just "fads" and taste "manufactured" but the taste of the drinks at this shop, as a Mexican American, was on point. Lastly, it is VERY nice and cool inside so i recommend, ordering a drink and enjoying the rest. It's has a "diner" vibe in there, which I always appreciate. The restaurant staff also seemed nice when I first walked in and directed me to the coffee shop portion.

Misleading. It is a…read morerestaurant that has a coffee shop, but the coffee shop has its own hours and you won't know until you go inside, and they tell you that it is closed but the restaurant is still open. Hours here don't match the hours that the coffee shop is open, so it is very misleading. Both the restaurant and coffee shop need to be separated with their own names and own hours, saving people some time of having to walk in here.

LOCATION: In Old Town La Quinta, OTLQ easy to find, tons of parking but at times it gets busy so you may have to walk a bit. FACILITY: very traditional inside and out, clean, and lots of space between tables. MENU: rather massive, we usually order the same things so all the other options makes my head hurt so we just go with what we know. FOOD PREP: excellent, always looks the same which is a good things. FOOD QUALITY: some of the best in the valley. LIBATIONS: lots of choices and not too expensive, wish they had a locals city of LQ discount like some of the other options in OTLQ.. WAITSTAFF: very nice, everyone. OVERALL VALUE: if you order the right things, it is a great value but you can go nuts and spend a lot, tourist dollars spend well, upselling happens for those who want it and deserve it! TIP: Sitting outside is great most all year, we don't go out when it is crazy hot, but have dined outside in 100+ temps, we prefer the front outdoor space.

*Mi Casa es Su Casa*…read more My buddy had a small casual bday get-together with his family and invited me to join the celebration. I saw all the favorable reviews on Yelp and was looking forward to my first visit at Casa Mendoza. Very chill & lively family owned Mexican joint in Old Town LQ. The place was kinda busy @6:30pm on Hump Night ~~ always a great sign when I see this. Felt more like a Sunday Evening. It took an hour to receive our meals. Ordered @6:45 arrived @7:45pm. Good thing the Chimichanga & Gauc apps arrived pretty quickly. The Gauc was Excellente. All their food was very good. But all our meals arrived cold/lukewarm. Took forever to receive our food and we knew for a fact it's because all our plates sat a while until we were served. The actual plates weren't even warm and the sizzling fajitas had sizzled out and lost its dazzle. Because it was still 95 degrees when dinner was finally served, our lukewarm meals were doable on a hot night. Everyone did enjoy their meals tho. I was very pleased with my Mahi Mahi in Garlic Butter Sauce. The refried beans were outstanding. The rice very good...and I made tacos with the 3 corn tortillas. But would have enjoyed it even more had all the food been a little warmer. I stuck with H2O but all margarita drinkers said their drinks were good and hit the spot on a warm night. The service in general was also inconsistent for our small party of 8. The Birthday Boy was a little frustrated and got up a few times from his throne seeking assistance -- such as missing tortillas for meals, water refills, extra napkins. We even had to wait longer than anticipated for them to acknowledge the bday boy with a celebratory bday song & sombrero...and the fried ice cream, which didn't include a candle. Tho we all enjoyed ourselves and time together...a 2 hour dinner at a Mexican joint on a Wednesday night wasn't what we anticipated. Especially with one restless 7 year old ;-) But everyone working at Casa Mendoza is very friendly with great attitudes. Hostess team, waiters, servers & runners too. So that made up for the spotty service, just a little bit. Since I'm closer to the other Casa Mendoza in Palm Desert, I'd go there in the future with my wife, and order the exact same thing. But hope for much better service and warmer food.

Our sever was extremely knowledgeable about what vegan options they offer . I opted for the veggie fajitas ( omit sour cream ) . They were DELICIOUS! A couple cons for me ; Prices are pretty high in my opinion for Mexican cuisine my fajitas plate was $24 ( and if you order guac it's $18 ) & oddly the water tasted so off to us . Loved the Mexican dolls and aesthetic. We would absolutely come back . Tip ; ask for the hot house salsa & grilled jalapeños.

The bar was super busy and lots of people watching sports on the multiple TV's. Our waiter was friendly got us a milder salsa for kids and hotter one for me. The salsa was good, but for California I expected spicier and more flavorful. The service overall was great. We ordered the Tacos for 2 which was a lot of food. Our kids even made a few smaller tacos. It comes with 4 proteins- beef, chicken, pork and chorizo along with a ton of other accompaniments. We also each got a plate of rice and refried beans which is included. We all really liked the food and the service was great! There is also a back area which would be good when it wasn't so hot- we were there during a heat wave.
