This is the worst "Italian" restaurant I've ever eaten at. Who is giving this 5 stars?? It has to be someone's mom. The bread, I will say is 5 stars, it's over five stars. Everything else was downhill. It took us over an hour and a half to get served two side salads, lasagna, spicy penne. The table we were sat at was made up but not wiped. The lasagna was mush,.. the noodles were just mushy globs. Everything was so, so terrible. The penne was actually cooked correctly but it was just one note with the sauce. I am so disappointed. The poor service made it just so much worse. It was very, very loud in the back room. The ladies bathroom needed serviced. It wasn't the worst, but for the price of the food, we deserved more than a McDonald's cleanliness and paper towels in the sink and floors. read more

I am sorry I didn't read the reviews on yelp before trying this restaurant. I am visiting Wooster and saw the restaurant during my visit and the atmosphere was very nice. The restaurant had lots of seating available, I was seated right away and the waited 15-20 minutes before I got up and went back to the hostess stand and asked if a server was going to take my order. The hostess said oh let me get some one. The food was good, the focaccia bread was soft and tasty. I had the spaghetti and meatballs and it was really good. I saw several people come in and then leave because no one waited on them. I don't know who is in charge of managing the wait staff but there seems to be an issue with wait times and service times . read more

Went to Mariola Italian in Wooster with a group of five, and to be honest, it wasn't the best experience. First, we had to wait a long time, even when we were at the top of the waitlist. Then, even though we were five, they put us at a table for four. One of us had to sit weirdly in the aisle. It was awkward. They gave us bread, but it was too little for all of us, so we had to ask for more. The bread wasn't that great, but at least the oil and balsamic tasted good. Most of us got salads, which came out quickly. I got the Italian wedding soup, but they forgot to bring it out until I reminded them during the entree. And when it finally came, it was pretty much just noodles (no liquid). I hope they don't sever that at any wedding. I got the pasta with meatballs, which was a disappointment, The sauce was bland, didn't stick to the noodles, and there wasn't much of it. Frankly, I've tasted better store bought sauces. Plus For $17, ($$$) I thought the portion was too small... I've seen bigger kid's meals at other places. The good part? They have a nice patio. It's a cool spot to hang out. What a fantastic new Italian restaurant! Great food. Great service. A genuinely classy place. I had the lasagna. Flavorful with a wonderful chew. My friends had the spaghetti and meatballs and the salmon, both full of wonderful flavors and spices. Even the house salad was terrific. Mariola is relatively new in town, but it's really a great new addition to Wooster's growing downtown restaurant scene. Particularly with the decline in Coccia House, it shows every indication of becoming THE best local Italian place. Live music and a comfortable, well designed dining area only add to the experience. Grand Opening. Sat at the bar. I was served by one of my favorite bartenders Tiffany. I ordered an Italian Margarita & Mr. Mariola Pizza.The margarita was very refreshing. The pizza had a good tasting red sauce and adequate toppings. The crust was the hit for me. I believe it had a breadcrumb bottom. The entrees I saw other people eating were very large portions. The bar area was packed and no one was complaining so it's safe to say they enjoyed their food as much as I did. This was a much needed restaurant in Wooster. The menu is simple, and price point fair for the quality and amount of food you receive. When I return I will sit outside on the gorgeous patio. You must give this place a try!! read more

Had been wanting to check out the new Italian restaurant in Wooster, OH and it did not disappoint. The ambiance was inviting, lots of tables which was nice as the wait was less than 10 minutes at 8pm on a Friday night. We got the the Mariola House Salad, Chicken Parmesan, and a large Pittsburgh Nappi Pizza Pie which was more than enough for four people. The pizzas are very thick - almost like deep dish. I was served a dink that was only 1/3 of a drink and when I asked the server about if she just ignored me. 9$ and literally 3 sips. Also super sweet and non alcoholic tasting. Our party then had the shrimp scampi, spicy chicken penne, Italian sausage rigatoni, fettuccine Alfredo, parm crusted salmon, and a pizza. Everything was delicious and the portions were more than enough. The shrimp scampi was the top of the list for me. Next time I will definitely be getting a salad as they look delicious going by. Our waitress Avery was top notch. The place was full and we never waited for anything. She was very friendly and informative with any questions we had. Our bill for 7 people was reasonable. Wavered between a three and four stars and decided they definitely deserve 4. Great place to bring a group of people like a group of hungry college kids. We had a group of 10 without reservations and they were able to seat us within 15 minutes. Service was really good. The ambiance was exactly what you want for a family Italian place. Visited for the first time over the weekend. I so wanted to love this place. Inside and outside look great. Service was excellent. Food, not so much. It was ok but nothing spectacular. Our server even told us the pasta was "okay" but pizza was great. We didn't like the pizza either. Panko bread crumbs on the bottom made it crunchy, greasy and crumbs EVERYWHERE. Also extremely PRICEY. 17.50 for a 10-in pizza?!?!?! Husband got 2 toppings (chicken) on his but since one was not a regular topping offered, his was over $20 for a 10-in. Also, please CHOP veggies! No one wants huge chunks on such a small pizza. Still charge per topping but you get much less. I doubt we will return. read more

Yesterday I was getting my hair done at Flourish Beauty Bar and asked Taylor my stylist about Mariola. She is Italian and when in Rome ask the real thing. She raved about it. So I walked over. They were very nice. I have a disability and walking is difficult, since I walked they took my order instead of me needing to walk farther. To go orders are at another area, they brought me a chair and some water. They care about their customers. I brought home the 10" fig and pig pizza and 2 cannoli. My husband and I had had a similar pizza in a little Italian restaurant in CA, but this was so. so good. Sweet and Savory. Rarely do I have a problem with stopping at 2 pieces, but I went back later for another piece. The cannoli well, an Italian meal is not and Italian meal without dessert and these are indescribably delicious . Also, they carried my order to my car for me. Kindness ! read more

Came here for dinner on our visit to Wooster, recommended by a local. There were 6 of us (two teens, two pre-teens and two adults-some of us very picky) and we all were able to find something we liked from the menu. I had a pizza on the cauliflower crust-highly recommend! All the food was delicious and our server was very friendly, personable and attentive. She was even helpful in suggesting a breakfast location for us for the next day (which was a stellar recommendation!). The restaurant was big, clean and spacious-didn't feel like we were sitting on top of other diners, plenty of room between tables for some "privacy" of conversation. They said to call on the day to see if we needed to get on their on-line waiting list. We also asked about outdoor seating, and were told it would be available. On the day, we called 45 minutes ahead of our desired time, and they said it wouldn't be a problem to accommodate our group. My brother arrived 5 minutes early to a mostly-empty restaurant & was told it would be 20 minutes. When the rest of the party arrived, we asked to be seated outdoors. It was a hot and sunny day, but there were plenty of umbrellas on the patio. As soon as we were shown our table, the hostess left us, without helping the 94-YO. We observed that all of the other tables were shaded by umbrellas, but our table had been moved out of the shade into the sun. Several umbrellas were sitting unused. We tried to move one, but concluded it was too heavy. Another patron tried to move it for us, but I suggested we find a staff person (there were none outside) to ask about moving the tables back into the shade. While we were deciding what to do, a staff person came out, screaming at us not to move the umbrellas. When we asked about moving the table back into the shade, she was very snarky and said that couldn't be done. She expected us to sit in the sun for the duration of our meal. We opted to sit inside. We assisted the 94-YO back inside. Our server was ok. However, the runners who brought out our food didn't know what food went to each person, and somehow the kitchen managed to forget my husband's order of spaghetti with meatballs, so he had to wait while that plate was prepared. We tried to make it easy for the restaurant to accommodate us, calling ahead twice, arriving a bit early, and suggesting solutions to the problem, but their incompetence has cost them a future customer. This place does not deserve any stars. It was a total waist of money. I got the Parmesan Chicken, the chicken tasted like they burned something on the grill and didn't bother to clean it. My husband got the chicken Alfredo, once again jar Sauce from the store is way better , and he almost choked on a knuckle bone in the chicken. You wouldn't think anyone could mess up a salad, but they can.. With brown lettuce.. this is not a real Italian restaurant. You can blame the owners and cooks for the terrible food, not the waitress. My wife and I have been looking forward to this restaurants opening for a while now. We started off our night with the limoncello martini and blueberry lemon spritzer. The limoncello martini was our favorite, but blueberry lemon spritzer was a refreshing addition to the evening. We had the garlic bread for our appetizer with the truffle oil. Although the Garlic Bread was delicious, we would say that the up charge for Truffle oil was not worth it as the Truffle oil was not as flavorful as expected. We followed up our delicious appetizer with the Spicy Chicken Penne and Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken. Wow! Our waitress for the evening was attentive and gave great suggestions! Overall, the night was fantastic and we will be regulars for years to come. P.S. consider getting some pizza! We didn't get any pizza and it all looked delicious when it came out of the kitchen!
