As a vegan, I'm used to side eye. At Marinitas, the manager said, "we can work with the entire menu to get you something you like." They have excellent sweet potato tacos and the chips are delicious and fresh. Guacamole was a big hit too. I enjoy the dark wood and brick, it lends to a nice ambiance. The Christmas decorations were fun and plentiful.

Quality of food and general care has cratered under new ownership. Almost $200 worth of to go food ordered, including guacamole and Queso Fundido and they give a tiny bag of chips and 2 small ramekins of salsa. Also, they haphazardly put 5 boxes of food stacked on top of each other which resulted in the bottom box being crushed as seen in the 1st photo. Additionally Carnitas was very overcooked and they either forgot, or no longer provide tortillas with orders of carnitas. Don't think we'll be back again. Sad.

Hefty margarita glasses! And that might be a Ouija board behind me ...

This review is purely for the margaritas and service. I was out on a Friday night with a friend and we decided to head out for margaritas and came across this restaurant as one of our stops. The service was prompt and friendly. Marinitas has a house-made sour mix, and after having drinks here, I believe I have been drinking crappy Margaritas my entire life. Marinitas uses high quality liquor, and their house-made sour mix is incredible. How have I never come across a restaurant or bar that uses house-made sour mix? I'm not sure I can ever enjoy store-bought margarita mix again. As for the restaurant itself, the walls are brick and the exposed wooden beams creates a lodge feeling. The tables, seats, and stools seem to be high quality solid wood. Even the margarita glasses were hefty. Then there is some religious decor, and I might have accidentally touched a Ouija board when I was trying to straighten out a piece of art on the wall. Yikes! Luckily I did not have any ghost visitors that I noticed when I was home alone. We walked to this location and passed it right up since the sign that was visible to us said Cantina. There are big heavy doors with the symbol M on the doors. Lastly, this is a bit of a nicer restaurant. My friend and I were in jeans and a t shirt, but other guests were dressed more nicely -- men in button downs and jackets, women in blouses.

I've been here a few times and like this place. It's spacious inside and has a good vibe to it. Great to go with friends or a date. The service was great. When we stepped in the guy at the counter was on the phone. Another worker came quickly and sat us. Our waiter was super nice. I ordered the Enchilada vegetarianas this time. Unfortunately, the taste wasn't to my liking. I wouldn't order it again. I've ordered other items before and they were good. I'd still come back, but I probably won't order this again. The chips and guac are always good. I love the thin tortilla chips. Even though my dish wasn't to my liking, I'd still come back as my previous food experiences were a good one.

The old Tres leches cake -rich, moist, cinnamony, creamy, decadent, topped with the right toppings : mango & strawberries, irresistible

The old tres leches cake vs the new one. The old one is the one lacking cinnamon and looking like a safeway cake slice. The ones with cinnamon, mango and moisture are the pics of the old, authentic, delicious recipe. I came here for my birthday last year to get the tres leches for the 10th year and we waited 30 mins for a pre ordered cake that was ordered in advance. There was no one to even greet us for the first 10 mins, we had to go find someone. It started going downhill from there. It pains me to write this because this restaurant used to be a town favorite! Everything is different now. The service the food, the dessert etc. this is a huge disappointment. Your tres leches cake used to be my favorite dessert. I would get it for the last 10 years for my birthday every year. Not only is it nothing like it used to be but it is not even good. Please change it back!!! P.s. the new one doesn't even have cinnamon.... Which is extremely inauthentic.

Marinitas restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. High ceilings and so many decorations to look at! The service was excellent--we happened to get Mike the bartender and he helped select the perfect shot of tequila for my companion. The restaurant makes the tortillas chips--they were fresh, thin, and crispy. I ordered the intriguing-sounding "enfrijoladas," which were fun. My companion had shredded beef enchiladas. The margaritas come in small cocktail glasses vs. the usual margarita glass, FYI. The menu is extensive and we look forward to visiting again. They also have a brunch that looks interesting.

Love the fast service along with best margaritas and food! Just starting with a basket of chips and salsa is a great start along with my favorite margarita the Delux

This is our go to Mexican place in Marin. Their crunchy chicken tacos, Little gem salad and Elegante Margaritas are a few of our favorites.

They do have a to-go area where you can place order and pick it up, rather than going into the actual restaurant. My go to dish is the bistec sandwich, paired with their house special hot sauce, it is soooo good!!!! They also sell bottles of their hot sauce and salad dressing which is amazing. I recently tried their plantain burrito and it was also very delicious. My go to drink is their ponche which is super refreshing, especially during their summer months. I always forget to take photos of the food before I eat here because I am so excited to always dig in! I'll aim to come back soon to take photos and update my review. I love that they also have a mill valley location as well as Petaluma!

I came around 5:50PM on a Sunday night and had to wait about 10 minutes, but by the time I left around 6:30PM, the line was out the door and then some. Definitely get here early, and parking shouldn't be too hard with a lot nearby and free street parking. This spot is pretty casual, as in you order at the counter before grabbing a number and sitting at a table. As opposed to a food hall, you get directed where you sit before ordering, and sometimes end up sharing a table with another party, especially in my case when you have a party of 2. Service was attentive and food came out at a decent pace, though they did not come all together. I ordered a large Bistec Sandwich and a Pasteles Special. The Bistec sandwich is a must order, and I recommend ordering the sandwich over the plate due to how fragrant the bread was. Pictures might not look like much, but the bread was sooo good and crispy, and they give a good balance of meat, avocado and veggies. It can be a little heavy, but a large sandwich was perfect for my wife and I to share along with another plate. The Pastales was alright - the rice is pretty unique if you're looking for new flavors, but the pork was a little stinky and dry. The hot sauce on the table is really good and managed to mitigate that, and it's not as spicy as you'd think given the color and smell. The banana leaf in the tamale made it really fragrant with a unique taste, and the lemon sauce on the salad balanced the entire plate out. For a party of 2, I recommend ordering the Bistec Sandwich in large size (since I believe the regular price only gives you half) and another plate. I also recommend using the toast tab (online order) to look at the menu over their actual menu; the UI of it makes it hard to choose what to order and the toast menu has pictures next to the menu item. Given that Marin food options can be quite expensive or fancy, this place is the perfect place to go for a unique food spot, especially if you're coming from SF.

I've eaten at Colombian restaurants all over Queens NY, Florida, and throughout Colombia, so I have a lot to compare it to. This was, unfortunately, the most disappointing experience we've had. The service made us feel unwelcome from the moment we walked in. The owners barely acknowledged us, and even though they speak Spanish, they spoke English to my Spanish-speaking husband. No one explained the menu or offered any recommendations, which made the experience feel cold and uninviting. As for the food, the bandeja paisa was very disappointing. There was essentially no carne asada, and the chicharrón was almost entirely fat with very little meat. What surprised me the most was the lack of hospitality. In my experience, Colombian restaurants are usually incredibly warm and welcoming. The staff often greet you warmly, offer recommendations, and make you feel appreciated as a customer. I've honestly never had an experience like this at any Colombian restaurant. The atmosphere here felt cold and impersonal, more like eating in a hospital cafeteria than a family-owned Colombian restaurant. I genuinely wanted this restaurant to be great and was excited to support a local Colombian business, but between the unfriendly service, the lack of hospitality, and the disappointing food, we won't be returning. UPDATE: I want to address the owner's response because it contains something that is simply not true. I never asked to purchase their $6 empanadas for $2 each. That simply did not happen. Price was never the issue, we spend plenty dining out, and my husband regularly spends upwards of $100 just on lunch. If the food and overall experience had been worth it, he absolutely would have become a regular customer. Instead, we'd rather drive to San Jose for Colombian food we enjoy. Also, my husband is Colombian, not American. I am American. That is why I found it odd that Colombian staff at a Colombian restaurant refused to speak to him in Spanish.
