Passing the main street the other day,and walked by Marinis Chip shop, although I live near the shop I rarely use it, as I much prefer " New Neptune's " for a couple of reasons, ( 1 ) its closer to my home ( 2 ) they fry everything in Lard, or as we Glaswegians call it " dripping " notwithstanding Marinis interior is spotless and the fare on offer is above average for chip shops in the East End. Marinis first opened for business in Baillieston about 40 years ago by Giuseppe Marini who eventually retired and the shops are now run and owned by his son Sep, they have won various awards for there fish and chips and hold or did hold the world record for frying the most fish suppers in one day ( 12,406 ) I would use this shop any time I was passing as the variety is good the staff friendly price wise I can not fault £ 2.50 for a fish supper, they source their fish direct from Aberdeen, apparently they have their own fish buyer up north, one thing I did not know was that the Marinis have donated over £50.000.00 to various charity's,now that's a brilliant gesture.
