After trying 2 other PT clinics, I finally found the best. I cannot say enough about Mariners PT. I go to the YMCA location and love it. I can see my progress and that I am getting stronger and the pain is going away. No longer do I feel frail and limited and what I can do. I've gotten a routine where I go to Physical Therapy and then also several days a week go to a class. I am able to ask my Mariner's PT about certain class exercises and whether I should be doing them. The therapist actually had me show her how I was doing the exercise and corrected me and showed me how to do it in a way that was strengthening and not harmful. These folks are great! Easy to make an appointment. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. My MIL usually meets with Makenzie. Although my MIL is not fluent in English, with patience and empathy they are able to communicate. Over the weekend, my MIL was having a flare-up, so I called on Monday late in the day. They were able to give me good advice over the phone and suggestions on how to address the pain, and said they would get her squeezed into the schedule in the morning if it were necessary even though their schedule was full. I had massive rotator cuff repair surgery about six months ago, and I've been working with Mariners physical therapy. After my surgery, I was completely immobilized for 8 weeks, once the sling came off I could not move my shoulder at all initially. Mariners has gotten me back to full function of my arm and now I'm just working on strength. My PTs ... MC, Nikki and Chad have all been instrumental in getting me back to function. I had an absolutely phenomenal experience at Mariners. I had an extensive, multi-ligamental injury and underwent quite an extensive knee surgery followed by a knee manipulation. I was supposed to be walking, etc. by 7 weeks post-operatively and was still unable to do so 10 weeks. I was essentially handicapped before I made it to Mariner's, and was told that a part of my difficulty walking was due to apprehension, and that I merely needed to not be afraid. I then began working with Mary Claire at Mariner's - she identified the cause of my difficulty ambulating, among other things, spent A LOT of time providing manual therapy (something my other therapists hadn't done) and gave me the exercises needed to provide my knee/leg the stability needed to walk. She got me back up and moving in no time. I am very grateful to Mary Claire! Overall, everyone at Mariner's is very professional, kind and friendly. It was easy to make and cancel appointments. They take strict COVID precautions, making it a safe environment to receive care (or as safe as can be). I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to receive my PT there and highly recommend it to anyone and everyone! read more

I am grateful to have been referred by many a YMCA Mermaid to Mariners physical therapy. I have been pending surgery since 2020 (3 cancelled due to Covid) . They have continued to prepare me & my legs have never been stronger. I have a structural issue that has become worse as I've aged. I am lucky to see Mark Kirsch & he has given me many helpful recommendations. Mark has been the best of all the physical therapists I've seen locally over the years from Hoag to Southland. He has helped me to understand my legs more during this time & the importance of strengthening leg and all muscles prior to surgery. I sometimes see students after Mark that he'll me through exercises Mark prescribes. These onsite students are graduates of their physical therapy training education & most are going to be Doctors of Physical Therapy. I love talking to these recently educated students about their plans. They all have great positive attitudes looking towards the future & they are all so helpful. I now go to the Sandpointe office weekly & look forward to it. My surgery is now scheduled for May 10, 2021. I honestly don't know what I would have done without them, as Mark, Mary Claire, and their team thoroughly helped me reach my goals, and helped me set the right expectations for myself. They we're also able to help me overcome some serious mental barriers as well, that helped my recovery progression greatly. I've been seeing Mark Kirsch, PT at Mariners on and off since 2016 for different injuries and most recently following a bad car accident. Mark is just amazing. I have referred many of my friends, family, and colleagues to see him for any musculoskeletal related problems. He always takes his time and isn't trying to rush through our session. He really cares about his patients. As a medical professional myself, I can say with certainty that Mark is incredibly knowledgeable and does thorough physical examinations during the initial evaluations (more extensive than my orthopedist actually). I have 100% confidence that he knows when I need to go easy and when it's time to push me a bit more safely. They have a very clean office and amazing staff who are very professional and kind. Equipment is amazing including a theragun, zero gravity treadmill, and pilates reformer. I am truly grateful for Mark and all the staff at Mariners for helping me manage my pain. I've even been able to return to some of my favorite activities because Mark has taught me tons of modifications to my exercises that will ensure my safety. Worst billing I've ever dealt with. I have given them my insurance information over and over and over and 6 months later they are still harassing me and not doing their job by contacting my insurance and saying I haven't given them the correct insurances. I now owe them over $500 which they have sent me to collections. After I call my insurance they said they have called them a few times already and left voice mails and no one has responded or called back. Something is not right here. They are lazy and don't want to take care of their costumers. read more

My wife came to Mariner's for therapy right after back surgery. They have been fabulous helping her heal scar tissue and regain the strength and mobility she had before her injury. Her therapist always explains in detail why a certain tendon has effects from her shoulders down to her feet. We are very thankful for her doctor recommending we come here. I couldn't be more satisfied with my treatment at Mariners Physical Therapy. After tearing my ACL and MCL in a motorcycle accident along with two broken feet I was recommended to Mariners by my doctor to strengthen my knee for surgery. Well after 10 weeks my MCL has improved tremendously according to the knee surgeon and I'm ready to have my ACL reconstructed. The doctor feel the work that has been done prior to surgery will greatly improve my recovery post op. I'm really looking forward to getting back to Physical Therapy after my surgery. As for the staff my Physical Therapist is Mark Kirsch who has been great, along with the Mariners support team of great interns. It's like a family in there and everyone is there to help, they all know you by name and really look out for you. On top of Mark, Sean, Chase, Allison and Charlotte have all been great help. I've been a patient with Dr. Chris Morton on and off for over 4 years ... and couldn't be more grateful and satisfied, with Chris and his entire staff. I've had a variety of problems and surgeries along with inflammatory conditions. Chris always made time when I needed help, gave me his undivided attention, hired the brightest young interns who were so capable and eager to learn. I've worked with Dr. Kimmy Witkowski and Dr. John Wade ... both were absolutely excellent. His PT assistants were just the best ... well trained and focused. The front office was always pleasant and helpful and cheerful. The facilities (both Santa Ana and while at Shape Up) were top-notch, clean and easy to get to. I have been treated at several other PT facilities in and around Newport Beach ... NONE could compare ... and after a while, you realized that the young assistant were more interested in being social and having you do wall climbs. I have had back pain on and off for a couple years and have been to two other PT places that didn't help at all. I went to Kimmy and she knew exactly what was wrong and had me feeling amazing before I left. I have been going for a couple weeks and have been feeling great. Following several shoulder disclocations I went in for a consult with Mark Kirsch who helped me formulate a plan to get get back to being healthy the right way. The initial consult pushed me towards the surgical path and thanks to Mark and the Mariners team I am more than confident and happy with my surgeon and the results. Following the surgery the Mariners team has been pivotal in ensuring that my recovery goes the right way the first time. They took the time to know who I was (and realize if they give me an inch I'll try to take a mile - thanks Mark) which helped them reel me in when needed and push me at the same time. Very passionate, professional and knowledgeable, Chris, Mark and their team are really dedicated and are delivering days in and out. I have tried many therapists before and can tell that these guys are the top dogs. They also own an anti-gravity treadmill. Look it up it is a powerfull recovery tool. Logistics-wise, they are flexible with scheduling and send appointments reminder to remind you to be on time. Lack of motivation to go the the PT? It will probably not happen with these guys. I can't be more grateful to the PTs at Mariners! From the front desk, to the treatment tables, everyone was very friendly, attentive and competent. I came to Mariners for Thoracic Outlet and low back/SIJ pain. Kimmy, Christine and Michael did a wonderful job finding and treating the sources of my imbalances that caused my pain and discomfort! Prior to seeing them, I was unable to workout, swim and surf (any overhead activities) without pain in my neck, numbness in my left arm and hand, and sharp pain in my back. Thanks to the Mariners staff, I am now back in the water without any pain! I am also very impressed in the patient education that goes along with therapy. I have been to a number of other PT practices were no one has really communicated what the treatment is all about. The PTs and PT aids were able to explain what they were doing and why the exercises/stretches will help get me back into shape. They gave me great exercises and the progressions really helped me take it to the next step to get back to what I was doing before I felt pain. I am so appreciative that they all took the time to explain everything in a way that anyone could understand. It gave me more incentive to do my exercises/stretches on the off days when I didn't have scheduled PT sessions. For all these reasons, I highly recommend Mariners to anyone that is in need of physical therapy! read more

TERRIBLE experience! I setup my first appointment at Mariners and was told it would be $130 for the first visit and $80 for each consecutive. Mariners explained that the initial visit was higher because they spend more time reviewing your situation. I arrived on time and waited over 20 minutes before I asked the front desk what's up. I finally saw the therapist 30 minutes after my appointment time! He spent about 20 minutes with me before sending me to an assistant to perform exercises. The assistant was not only back and forth between me and another client he was cleaning the place! So bizarre! The assistant told me he was going to perform the Lachman test on my torn and still swollen ACL. He had no idea what he was doing and worst of all it really hurt! In all, Mariners rushed through my appointment because they were running late and wanted to get me out the door before they closed. Yes I was still charged the $130! I wish the drama ended there but that was just the beginning! Once I submitted my bill to my insurance for reimbursement my insurance notified me that CPT codes must be included on the bill. After my several calls to Mariners and my insurance contacting them I never received what I needed from them for my reimbursement. Their billing department was not only clueless they were so rude. They were acting frustrated with me for asking for standard billing information. Interesting that I have never had this issue at my chiropractor and acupuncturist's office. I also requested a prescription for the medical equipment they recommended so I could submit them to my insurance for reimbursement. Mariners told my insurance company they did not feel comfortable writing me a prescription for the medical equipment because I only came in for one visit! I only came in once because I had surgery on my knee and had to wait two weeks to start therapy again! I had to contact my primary care physician for the prescription and just ate the $130 for the visit. I WILL NEVER GO BACK AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU! read more
