Dr. Williams was my primary care physician around 2020. At that time, I had an injury that was turning into a chronic problem and I decided to get his feedback on it. I expected a referral to a specialist, but instead he began to treat it himself: ordering an MRI and putting me in a immobility brace. The treatments he prescribed caused me to develop new chronic illnesses. While failing to treat and resolve a patient's illness may be common in the medical community, and can be excusable, his attitude changed over time as I failed to improve. He showed signs of disbelief and began to dismiss my symptoms. I think he got in over his head by trying to treat my symptoms himself and couldn't accept his failure. This isn't about Dr Williams himself but this is regarding the medical office staff. The receptionist always put you on hold for over 10 minutes. And the whole music is so boring and annoying. Every time you call you have to be put on hold for so long. This really makes me miss Kaiser. You can never get an appointment to see Dr. Williams. So I guess I'll go to urgent care. Dr Williams is one of the best doctors I had while living in South California. He asked questions and always listened very carefully to the answers I provided. He has patience and will answer all the (many) questions I had. He cares about his patients and won't jump into the prescriptions' pad, if he believes you really don't need it. Let me tell you a little story about my experience with Dr. Williams' office over the past couple years, culminating in the disaster of a visit I had today. When I first visited Dr. Williams' office several years ago, I was met by a friendly, knowledgeable doctor with a friendly, accommodating staff. At that point, I chose to make him my primary care provider. Unfortunately, over the years, it has been virtually impossible to get an appointment with Dr. Williams, having only been able to see him a handful of times, mostly getting his assistants to the point that I just stopped trying. But I digress - let's move forward in time. Last week I was sent to the E.R. after collapsing during a business presentation with what they feared might be a stroke, aneurysm, or something of a rather serious nature. After a CT scan, the E.R. was thankfully able to rule out a brain bleed, etc., but they made sure that I set up time with my primary care provider - I took them serious and tried to set something up with Dr. Williams. He is my PCP after all. After explaining the situation to his staff, they explained that the earliest he could see me was in four weeks and that my only option was one of his assistants. Again, I was in the hospital, getting a CT scan after collapsing while speaking in front of a large room of people less than a week ago. Anyway, they insisted that Dr. Williams didn't have time for me and that I was in a take it or leave it scenario. So, I took what I could - I was literally coming to terms with my own mortality after all. Move forward to today - the day I get to see a physicians assistant about my potential brush with death... I arrive 20 minutes early and go to check in. The receptionist takes my information, then starts with the standard "are you experiencing any symptoms" routine - fine, I get it. I say "no", but she presses, "do you have kids at home with symptoms" Me: "hey man, they're kids, they are always bringing something home" thinking I'm being friendly and bringing some levity to her day. She presses further, "have they had a cough in the past several days?". Me: "Nothing major, just standard kid coughs". Then I push back, "What are we doing here? I don't have symptoms and I'm wearing a mask." Her - being confrontational out of nowhere: "Sir, COVID is still a thing even if you don't want it to be. People are still testing positive. My 2 year-old daughter is in the hospital with COVID, fighting for her life." Me - take aback: "Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that... (silence) ... Soooo, what do we do now?" Her: "You have a $15 co pay" Me: "Ok, here you go". I go sit down. 5 minutes later Her: "Sir, I need you to go out to your car and wait for a text message. You will not be seeing anyone today, they will do a video call with you." Me: "Excuse me? No, I am here to see a doctor because I was in the E.R. last week. It's pretty important that I actually see someone today." Her: "We don't mess around with COVID so your only option is a video call. Me: "This is ridiculous, I don't even have symptoms - YOU decided I have symptoms. I took off work to be here." Her: "That's your only option." Needless to say, I asked for a refund and left and probably won't be returning. I now sit in my office, having not seen a doctor (or an assistant) and with my health at extreme risk. The service at Dr. Williams' office has gradually slipped over the years and this was the straw that broke my back. Between never being able to see an actual doctor and rude receptionists, I am not willing to trust my health to this location anymore. Look, Dr. Williams is a good doctor, but he has spread himself too thin and isn't able to provide the service he probably envisioned when he went to medical school. Long story not very short, this is the state of medical care today - doctors who can spend 15 minutes with a patient only if you schedule 6 months in advance. If you have an urgent need to see your PCP, don't bother - they don't have time for you. read more

BEWARE They don't take your insurance for your first time visit and they don't mention this until after your visit. I got a bill for $300 and my insurance told me this practice refused to charge the visit as a preventative checkup- which was what I was going in for. I have phenomenal insurance though a huge tech company and this has never happened before... I called the practice after and they said that the first time visit counts as some sort of 'pre-screening visit' that isn't a preventative visit. I asked them why they didn't tell me beforehand and they just said "it's just how we do business." Not sure how this pre-screening ended up being $300 and honestly it feels shady. The doctor visit itself was just a brief chat and was fine- but I feel like they should let you know beforehand that your insurance won't cover the first visit. I usually don't write reviews but figured this could help save someone from a surprise charge. read more

Was a bit skeptical about a virtual doctors visit at first but it went very well, in some ways better than an in person visit because there is no wait time! Now that I'm getting a bit older and am still very active it's good to have a doctor I can depend on. Dr. Williams is an excellent Doctor who works for a crappy company. I cancelled my appointment with him, an appointment my heart doctor suggested, because of Family Care Centers' incompetence. I was told to arrive 45 minutes early to a facility that already has all of my info in order to get my info. I called and they said it was required. I cancelled. read more

If you are a new patient, don't bother! I have been trying to get an appointment for 6 months and was told to re-schedule twice because at the last minute he decided to not come into the office. He will only see new patients on Fridays at 11:30am which means taking a day off work. Front staff is unprofessional and act like they are doing you a favor by making you re-schedule. read more
