I stopped at this alright tiny pizza place in the last few days, looking to grab a quick slice. I…read moreordered a plain which was $4 instead of the $3.75 listed, which I'm unsure if it was tourist tax or something, and the slice came out piping hot a few minutes later. The crust was very thin, even for a NYC slice, and was alright, being a bit doughy at the top. I found the sauce too sweet for my liking, which almost reminded me of the rather terrible Little Italy chain. There was plenty of cheese, and it had a good pull, even if it looked a bit overcooked on top. I'm presuming the average ratings here and on other sites are because of their location and the fact that a lot of tourists who go here can't tell the difference between Joe's and a dollar slice. Perfectly decent slice on the level, if not worse than many slices in the city, as I disliked the sauce, while the rest was fine.

We had 2 days in the city and obviously pizza was on our must do list. We initially lined up in the…read moresuper long "Slice" line since it was just our family of 4 with 2 young kids. After about 10 mins and not much movement, we decided it was smarter to just get a whole pie. Went back to the quite short pie line and got our pizza relatively quickly. Turned out, it was almost the perfect amount of pizza for us after all! Delicious, hit the spot, and a crowd pleaser all around. Will definitely return when we're in the city!

We took a trip to New York and wanted to try local pizza and ended up here. The men working the…read morecounter were super friendly and the pizza was handed to us immediately. We just stood there and ate it which was great. We got three pie-shaped slices of cheese and one large of cheese Sicilian. We thought it was all great, however, the regular pie-shaped slices were definitely better than the Sicilian. The cheese was excellent and the crispness and flavor of the crust and sauce was great. Why four stars: the price of the slices was high and while the pizza was excellent, we have had (slightly) better back home and in other locations but we will totally come back and recommend Joe's to anyone.

This was my husband's first trip to NYC, so OF COURSE he needed to have a proper New York pie. And…read moreI love a thin, crispy crust, so John's definitely did not disappoint. They sat us upstairs along the balcony overlooking the main dining room, and the decor... honestly, just look at the photo because I don't even know how to describe it The space used to be a church, and it is SO cool inside. Definitely not your average pizza joint. This place is popular -- there were plenty of people eating -- but surprisingly, our wait wasn't long at all. And even with all the bodies in there, it never felt crammed or uncomfortable. We ordered a small pizza and did half Shrimp Fra Diavolo and half Margherita. The Fra Diavolo had a little kick, but nothing crazy -- and this is coming from someone who cannot handle big spice The Margherita had just the right amount of basil and mozzarella, and that crispy crust was exactly what I wanted. Although there was no major cheese pull, it was still perfect. The small was plenty for the two of us and honestly just perfect. We also had a couple cocktails, which were delicious too. I always say NYC food pricing is kind of deceiving. You look at the price and go, "Ummm..." but then the food comes out and you realize they give you A LOT. Definitely felt like we got our money's worth here. Great pizza, really cool atmosphere, and a fun first NYC pizza experience for the husband. Happy Eating, Chass

Bustling doesn't seem to fit, it was packed to the gills. John's is extremely spacious, and even with that much space, we had a substantial wait. The wait was worth it though because they know how to do pizza. The crust just crisp enough, the sauce flavorful, and the toppings plentiful. The service was friendly and quick given the number of people there. For my first trip to NYC, I'd make this a traditional stop for future visits.

Last year, I was at Nothing Really Matters, the bar next door, with a group of friends. Someone ordered pizza, and I had no idea where it came from. I just remember thinking, "Wow, this pizza is really good." That memory stuck with me, so when a friend and I decided to stop by See No Evil Pizza yesterday, I was excited to finally visit. I didn't realize reservations were recommended, but thankfully Ariel, the host, was able to fit us in. Ariel was fantastic - he was friendly, welcoming, and so accommodating despite us showing up without a reservation. Ariel provided excellent service from the moment we walked in until we left. I didn't take any photos, which I now regret, because their pepperoni pizza was salty, addictive, and just really, really good. The pepperoni was crisp, the crust had that perfect char and crunch, and I couldn't stop reaching for another slice. The restaurant is small, cozy, and inviting. If you've been thinking about checking this place out, go for it. You won't regret it.

The white wine sangria was tasty, but I regret to say my partner nor I totally loved the pizza - it was quite greasy, which made it very wet and heavy to eat. It is such a cute place that deeply honors its heritage and ancestry, and their understanding of celiac disease immediately put us at ease. They explicitly let us know they use a dedicated oven and explained what pizzas can be made gluten free. They also have a dedicated fryer for all their gluten-free items, which is a massive relief for anyone with strict dietary needs. To drink, I ordered an Aperol Spritz, though you will want to double-check with the staff since a few of their other cocktails are not gluten-free. We kicked off our meal with the gluten-free arancini and a gluten-free Margherita pizza, and the pizza was genuinely delicious. They even offer gluten-free desserts, so we naturally went all-in on the fried dough with Nutella to finish things off. Aside from the incredible food safety and quality, the service and staff were fantastic. They were constantly attentive, clearing empty plates and bringing new ones throughout the meal. We started with two fabulous drinks: An Espresso Martini and their signature Limoncello Margarita. We shared the Shaved Brussel Sprout Salad and it was fabulous. The bits of bacon, combined with the spiciness of the pepper spices, made this a perfect starter. The entree was also shared and it was the Spicoli 2.0 Pizza. I cannot recommend this pie, enough. You will taste flavors that you've probably never experienced before with a pizza. Also, the different textures of the arugula, creaminess of the cheese, and the perfect crust will make it a memorable selection. For dessert, we shared the Buttermilk Panna Cotta. Each spoonful of those strawberries, dancing with the firm custard and glaze, made this a stupendous cap to the meal.

Do people not realize that putting a bar near a door on a freezing cold night benefits no one? Good thing I did not order alcohol or I would have froze to death. Seriously, none of the pies stood out in grand memory. All I can think of is, well, nothing. Nothing positive anyway. The names of the pies are funny, and the staff is friendly, but besides that, the quality of the food for lack of a better word, dare I say it, sucks. Hoping to salvage the meal, I ordered their Chicken Parmesan. It was the Hail Mary pass that unfortunately did not connect. The cutlets are overcooked and dry, and the red sauce cooked with it has minimal tomato flavor. At least the spaghetti is cooked to a nice al dente and mellow garlic butter flavor, but like the sauce cooked in, it is also minimal. Part of the problem I feel is they are trying to go for a vibe that has a New York and modern feel. It does not work. Stay true to one or the other. Or at least look at other business models. I will use another pizzeria in Bushwick that exemplifies it perfectly. It is a hipster pizzeria in a hipster neighborhood. Through balance, it creates an ambiance both welcoming and warm without losing any of its Bushwick character. It does this by not beating you over the head with hipster vibes, just enough to let you know that you are in Bushwick. The band Franz Ferdinand was playing as I was wrapping up. Rather than take the pizza out, I suggest you throw it out. Overall pizza rating: 1.7/5

The first thing you notice is the main bar wall, with its exposed centuries-old brick that has survived every bit of chaos this city could throw at it. It's subtly backlit from with a warm, amber glow that highlights every single historic groove and imperfection, making the whole room look like it's breathing. I have to say the centerpiece of the entire narrow room is the bar itself, and let me tell you, it is an absolute stunner of a contrast. Instead of the usual dark, sticky tavern wood, they've dropped in a long, continuous slab of pristine, elegantly smooth white stone. It glows under the soft lighting like a block of polished marble. There are no strobe lights and no obnoxious, skull-rattling bass in this joint. Instead, the room is wrapped in a blanket of incredibly chill music that matches the pulse of the room perfectly. It's just loud enough to drown out the noise in your own head, but quiet enough that you don't have to scream over the smooth white counter to be heard. People aren't here to be seen on TikTok; they're here to disappear for an hour or three. You slide into a chair, order a proper Old Fashioned from a bartender who doesn't rush the pour, and watch the ice melt against the amber-lit brick. It's the ultimate underground exhale--a perfect, narrow slice of peace in a city that never shuts up. Cheers!
