Finding a mechanic you can trust is rare. Finding one who treats your car as if it were his own is even rarer. Our beloved 23-year-old Chrysler Sebring convertible recently needed to pass California smog. Daniel patiently worked through the issues, and we couldn't have been more grateful. We've been customers for over 15 years and have always been treated with kindness, honesty, and respect. Daniel and his entire team take pride in what they do, and it shows every time we walk through the door. We wouldn't trust our cars with anyone else. read more

These guys didn't do any of the standard tricks that car salesman do, they were straight up honest, funny and nice to be with. It's the best car buying experience I've ever had. read more

I took my old truck there and after they crashed it into another truck, they lied to me about the damage and tried to tell me the bumpers were not available for a tuck that old but they generically (if one could be found) would be worth $200. It took me under 10 seconds to find hundreds of them and my particular bumper was $319 without shipping or instillation. They claimed the gave me free front end alignment, but that work was nessesary for the steering box replacement. Would not trust them at all!! read more

This is the best place! They took their time explaining things to me, Daniel was awesome! He didn't rush me off the phone and explained the service to me even when I had a million questions. They were super polite and they were able to diagnose the issue with my car. Their repairs are fast and their prices are fair. The customer services was really great. I really felt like I could trust them which is so rare! read more

I went in for an oil change after a cross-country move, and came out with a laundry list of things to repair--which would normally be welcome---except I got a second opinion and the most expensive thing on the list was unnecessary. They suggested I spend $1900 to replace the control arm and bushings and then realign. I spent a stressful week afraid to drive my car, (google broken bushings.) I was also upset with my local shop who I'd seen a month before my cross-country drive, thinking they'd missed something important that might have made my trip less safe. The second shop I took it said that the bushings looked "worn" but perfectly normal for a 10-year-old car, and not at all dangerous. He said, you don't need "new" -- he saw the video they sent me and just shook his head. He said unless my steering was off, he would not recommend the same repair, nor would he do the work if it were his own car. Marin Automotive also wanted to replace two filters that were replaced 7,000 miles ago for $70 (parts and labor) but they wanted to charge me $250. The front desk person was charming, but I think these folks need to reevaluate how they do business. Not everyone in Marin has $$$$ to spare and it's not OK to manipulate people via fear to make more $$$$. read more

Super helpful and fair prices. Easy access to my home. Appreciated their promptness and quality work.

Angel and Daniel at Marin Automotive were so helpful! I was in a smog certification doom loop - it took multiple attempts and 2 trips to Honda to address issues before the car passed smog certification. Angel and Daniel explained everything in detail at each step, and they also provided Honda recall info that I did NOT get from Honda! My final bill from Marin Automotive was only $73. I will definitely be back! read more

I drive an older car and had Marin Automotive replace the timing belt, clutch and other major parts 18 months ago. I was very pleased at the communication, fair pricing, and attention to detail with this endeavor. This year, I needed some work in order to pass smog and Daniel and his team quickly diagnosed the issue and had my car ready in one day, again with great communication and at a fair price. I would not take my car anywhere else. This is a business that cares about its customers. I appreciate the attention to detail, and the quick turnaround. A++++ all around. read more

Fabulous, fast service and local...I needed a smog check in order to renew my car registration. Having only recently started driving again, I was apprehensive as to where to go. Marin Automotive couldn't have made it easier and faster, literally with the whole process taking merely 15 minutes. Also, my brain filed away that they offer general automotive services when I should need it... read more

I brought my just purchased 1967 C-10 pickup to Marin Automotive to do a diagnostic on it and make recommendations for needed repairs. I've been impressed with the work ethic and communication from the team at Marin Automotive. I read reviews from a lot of shops in the area and got a sense that these guys are a local gem and a place a lot of families trust with their cars and it's true. The great news is I got a good truck! Their were a handful of wear and tear type repairs that were recommended, all at a great price. What made the experience exceed my expectations was how they took their time to provide a thorough inspection, the way Daniel explained his recommendations, his knowledge about these trucks, and all the easily looked over things along the way he noticed about the truck that were quick fixes that he took care of as well. I look forward to bringing my cars to Marin Automotive in the future. read more

Been going to Daniel for my car for years and never been disappointed. He is a caring professional that is honest and straight forward. He will tell you what the car needs and what can be postponed. He never tries to push any service and charges are competitive. I never question the service as I know it will be better than I expect. I couldn't feel better taken care of if were his mom. His newish website is so easy to use and so much nicer than automated phone systems or waiting on hold. I really have found a gem after experiencing all too many bs toads. read more

Daniel is honest & very fair. He explains what he wants to do. Our 2006 HHR has issues, but he does the best to keep it running. I highly recommend him. read more

This is not a review for their work, but for the fact that they recommended a bunch of work that they claimed needed to be done on my car, but, when I double-checked with my local mechanic, did not actually need to get done. They also charged me SIX times what my regular mechanic charges... I paid like $600 for what would have cost me maybe $50 with my regular mechanic, but thank god I didn't do everything they suggested, totaling like $5,000 or so! None of it needed to be done read more

Marin Automotive - Auto Repair Near Me - Fairfax, California

Daniel and everyone at Marin Automotive is pro, in every sense of the word! They are prompt to do the work, friendly, trustworthy and transparent. Their first response is always, "we're gonna diagnose it first, maybe we don't need to do anything." They saved me buying a new timing belt by showing me the mileage sticker on it, which showed I had a lot more time. Just today I went in to have my window replaced, which I assumed meant a new motor assembly replacement. Nope. The bolts had fallen off from the so called window experts I had taken it to in San Rafael, so it was a fraction of the price. And of course when major is needed it's done professionally and expediently. Outside of car body work, I'll never take my car to anyone else again! read more

By far the best shop I have taken my car or any of my cars to, ever. Not only were they friendly and very good with communication throughout but they were able to get my car in and begin diagnosing the very next morning from my initial call Like I said the communication throughout is top notch I received work orders and estimates that I could approve via text message. I did not have to go in at all until the car was ready and they called me every time there was a question or an update or anything. it was really really nice. The car was ready, even with having to order parts, within 3 days. The work was awesome, it runs better than ever! I am so grateful!! On top of all this... everybody I spoke to was friendly and helpful! Sadly that's pretty rare these days customer services a dying art but these guys nailed it. I'm really really stoked to say I have a new mechanic. read more

Recently my wife and I were in Northern California visiting family. We had taken my mom-in-law, and her car, on a little sight-seeing tour of Marin County along with some shopping and lunch in Fairfax. On the drive over, I had noted she was a little overdue for routine maintenance, and upon arriving into town, I was able to get her car into the shop on short notice. Danial, the owner, has been in the automotive trade for decades serving the Fairfax community. He and his staff were sharp, efferent and professional. They got the car in and out in just a few hours, before we even finished lunch, and didn't try to upsell us on anything the car really didn't need. The shop was large, clean and well organized. If you live in or pass through town and your car needs a bit of work, definitely stop in. Trustworthy and very well run! read more
