We're just going to drive from Petaluma to All Autos and be done with it. I have gone to this place for over 20 years but they are starting to get sloppy and don't have time to repair something they said was working fine after they did the work and tested it. I called them right away to say it wasn't working and they said they didn't think they did anything to it. On top of that, they are putting me off to another week to even look at it. I don't have time to try and make their schedule work when this is something they worked on and they said was working. Not very user- friendly if you ask me. What makes a good mechanic a GREAT mechanic? In my opinion 2 things.... 1. HONESTY - Often you don't know whether you really need to change or repair a part, you rely on your mechanic to be honest with you and only do what is needed not just pad their pockets! 2. CUSTOMER SERVICE - People expect good service but few are willing to give it. Customers do not expect a provider to be perfect, but they do expect things to be fixed if something goes wrong! I am so glad that I found All Autos! Yann D'Argnce runs the shop, and has been wonderful to me. As a woman, I always feel that I could be taken advantage of when I have my car serviced (and I have been before in major ways). But Yann is honest and he provides excellent customer service. He has told me that things do not need to be done, when I thought for sure they did. And the best story of all... I had my brakes done, but they had a major problem after only a few thousand miles. They'll check out your car and give tiered recommendations for top-priority repairs and what might be coming up next. They'll work with you if you say you can't afford a particular part quote. They have a great network of other businesses to refer to (I had great experiences with muffler work and a new windshield when I needed them). Their customers are loyal and long-term for good reason. I am so lucky I found Yann and crew just in time. My cars are getting old and there always seem to be something going on from small issues (replacement bulbs, batteries) to big ones (fuel pump, etc.). No matter what the issue is, these guys can fix it. They don't go overboard but give you options, don't do work you don't need and always explain what's going on in detail. In the city, I had a mechanic I loved and trusted. Since I moved to Marin, I've been searching and searching. I took my car to the dealer (begrudgingly) and always left with a bad feeling. I felt like they charged me just to walk in the door. Then, I found Yann at All Auto. He is the best! He does great work, in a timely manner, without overcharging. Several times I've gone in there with potentially expenses problems and each time, they were, luckily, small repairs. I never had to worry that he would overcharge me or recommend service that I didn't need. The first time I went there I ended up paying $1300 for a brake job. The second time I went there I took the time to review the $800 estimate to put a starter in an old Volvo and found out they wanted to charge me $550 for the starter that everyone else sells for $175. Third time they wanted $300 for a parking brake cable that I was able to find at Toscalito for $75. Watch out-these guts are a rip-off!!! read more

I've got a 2006 Toyota Sienna Minivan. The OEM GPS system started messing up, not being accurate, often showing my position in the middle of the bay or ocean. I use the system all the time and totally rely on it. I went to my mechanic in San Rafael, Easy Automotive. They said they can't work on it, I'd have to go to Toyota. I took it to Toyota. They told me it would be $130 to diagnose and I'd need to leave the car. It concerned me because it's such a proprietary system. If Toyota came back and said it will be $500 more to fix it, there is no one I can go to for a second opinion. Cain's Tires in San Rafael does my tires and brakes. They've been around forever and I have great trust in them. I didn't expect them to solve this, but thought they might be able to suggest someone who could help me. I stopped by and Barry referred me to Yans at All Autos. He told me if anyone could help me, Yans could. I stopped in and saw Yans. He took down my info and told me he'd make a few calls. He called me a couple of hours later and told me he'd learned that by simply buying the latest Toyota GPS DVD upgrade for $200 at Toyota, it would fix the problem. He said he learned that this problem was diagnosed soon after the 2006 model was released, and was included as a fix in all of their GPS DVD upgrades since then. I ordered the DVDs from Toyota and it fixed the problem. Yans didn't want any money for his trouble. He's won a fan and a new client. I told him that because of Cain's endorsement of him and because of his help with this situation, I'd be bringing my car to him from now on. read more

If you like cheap or used parts with astronomical markups and if you like to take your car in to get the same stuff repaired over and over then this is your place. They LOVE repeat business! I am glad i didn't go for the $2500 head gasket replacement approx 2 years ago. Car is still running like a champ. Five years of getting ripped off was enough for me. I didn't know this until I started pricing jobs at other shops... I was under the impression I was being taken care of by my mechanic. Wrong. I offered Yann a chance to replace the last radiator at cost but he told me to basically pound sand. There are too many other good, reliable and honest mechanics around. I have many other stories about this place. Don't waste your time and money here. AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yann is full of crap. I stand by my statement. AVOID. I went to all autos on the advice of my father-in-law and Cains Tires for what seemed to be a belt causing a squealing noise. It turned out my pathfinder (131,000 miles) required major timing belt, alternator, and brake work, with a few other little jobs. Yann kept me up to date throughout the process, explaining what was wrong and when I asked, what needed to be repaired now and what could wait. I have used other smog shops and they are clueless when it comes to the details of servicing an older vehicle for smog. Completely disappointed. This place voluntarily scammed my boyfriend out of $57 by offering to help him out with diagnostic readings on his Subaru. After my boyfriend explained the complications he had gotten with reading the code on his car and getting a more finite answer they stated they could help. Their version of help was to recite back what my boyfriend had already told them and still take his money. It is unfortunate when honest work and assistance isn't available in the auto world. If you know you can't help someone say so. It carries far more integrity than taking their money regardless. read more
