I've walked into Marilyn Britton's office bent over with low back pain, and much to my amazement walked out pain free.

However, the way this office is run with communication is just terrible. I read the reviews about this but figured they must have worked this out by now, but they have not. There is no way to email them, and I have spent countless amounts of my time on hold, talking to answering services even during the day, and calls not returned, messages not received. I am rarely able to reach a human when I call them even during office hours. I have called five times in last few days during office hours and I am just on hold for 15 minutes listening to music and then it just hangs up on me, with no way to even leave a message. I have resorted to thinking I am going to have to actually drive there and physically go into the office to actually reach someone, but I do not have time to do this. When I was able to leave a message, they would repeatedly call me back on a really old number that goes to someone else after I corrected it 4 different times with the answering service and the office and told them my correct number, they still continue to call me on the wrong number. The first day I walked into the office in level 9 pain, the woman at the desk literally did not even look up at me or say hi. I just stood there looking at her right in front of her for a few minutes and then asked her if she could help me. She seemed totally annoyed that I was there and she had to deal with me. Not a great first impression when you walk in with a lot of pain. Thankfully the doctor and the PA were nice. My first apt was over $800 and was very quick with the doctor and my insurance only paid half. It seems impossible to get accurate insurance info, they tell me something has been approved, I call my insurance, they said it has not been approved. I am terrified to get anything else done here because of how expensive their fees are and not knowing what kind of bill I will get and can't get any clear pricing ahead of time for treatments. There is another pain doctor in San Rafael that does the same cutting edge treatments but is MUCH less expensive and very clear with treatment costs. The same first office visit with him was $60 copay, here it was $800 but both doctors are in network for me and same type of visit. I don't understand how the pricing can be so different for a first visit or for the same exact treatments. Their communication system and not being able to ever talk to the doctor unless you have a very expensive meeting with him months away just does not work for me. When you are in pain having to wait many months for an apt or weeks of back and forth calls to reach anyone feels unbearable. I tried to stick it out but the communication issues and lack of clear info is just causing me so much stress. I think this doctor is really good at what he does, and I think he offers the best cutting edge treatments, but I just could not handle the way the office/ finances/ and communication is done here. I did not feel taken care of at all and every time I need to call them it turns into such a long very stressful ordeal with so many back and forth messages with physician assistants because they are never available when I try to call and there is no way to email them, and they continue to call me at an old number. And most of the time there is no way to even leave a message. I have spent hours trying to reach someone at this office only to be on hold and then disconnected. I ask them to call me back to confirm they got my message to cancel an apt and they do not call back. So it is just weeks of messages back and forth unable to actually reach them and no way to talk to the doctor if you have any questions. This is not good for people who are in chronic pain. So much of this could be eliminated if they just had email. Such poor management. Really frustrating experience as a patient in pain to go through. The opposite of a smooth experience. It's too bad because I do think they do offer really helpful treatments for patients in pain, but I have given up on this place.

Came in with 1) torn extensor carpi radialis longus…read more 2) glass in wrist 3) fractured radius Hillary braced the fractured arm and removed the glass from the arm with the torn ECRL (extensor carpi radialis longus), operating right in the area of the torn ECRL without noticing that tear. The problem was presented with symptoms of weakness, visually apparent imbalance, instability, and a deep incision at where the ECRL was cut. Hillary misdiagnosed this injury as a torn TFCC. That misdiagnosis meant that my injury would go untreated. It's been seven years and now, a more skilled and observant doctor quickly diagnosed the problem, ordered an MRI which confirmed his suspicion. Now that the doctor has pointed it out to me, it seems quite obvious to me. This new doctor, however, does not want to repair the problem due to the age of the injury. He thinks it's too old. It should have been fixed years ago. I'm looking for a doctor who can fix it. I'm willing to do what it takes to recover from the surgery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJKsnWwMIp8

After breaking my wrist and having to undergo surgery, she guided me through this difficult time with kindness, empathy and support. She was always there when I needed her and kept me informed and optimistic when I was afraid. Her expert surgery skills are beyond reproach. My wrist is now fully functional and the scar is barely noticeable. Her assistant, Emily, was the most helpful regarding disability and work related issues. She was very patient and kind throughout dealing with all of the forms she was asked to fill out. And to top it all off, her onsite hand therapist, Yaffa Meiner, is the BEST! She worked with me for 6 weeks making sure my wrist, hand and arm would be functioning as well as before. She supported me through many teary and worried moments and always made me feel supported. She was the kindest and most positive therapist, who made me believe in my abilities as we worked through the challenges. I am forever grateful for Dr. Redlin, Emily and Yaffa for taking such wonderful care of me.

The first orthopedic surgeon wanted to operate immediately without ever mentioning physical therapy. A huge red flag! So I got a second opinion and that Dr suggested PT. After vetting half a dozen physical therapists, I felt so fortunate to have landed on The Knee Joint. Danielle put together an exercise program to stabilize and strengthen my knee. I have emerged from a hobbling, limping-in-pain, never- dancing-again sad person, to a walking-hiking-biking and flying-up stairs-with-no-pain-happy person doing the jig! I have to admit I was a bit skeptical, but after sticking to her program for 7-8 weeks, I was pain-free. I know I need to adhere to her exercise program on my own, to maintain. Danielle really knows her stuff, and I can't thank her enough for saving me from going under the knife. Thanks Danielle!

Can not recommend this place enough. Truly saved my life as I know it.

TLDR: If you're someone who values performance, both on a critical timeline and for the long term,…read moreVita Yee is the first person to turn to for a sports injury. If possible, reach out to her as soon as you can after an injury, because with the early days, she apparently works miracles! Longer version: I am a performing artist, and on opening night, I heard a snap in my leg: I tore the calf. The pain was intense, and worse, I had no idea what was going on, only that I couldn't get any power from that leg. It was by sheer luck that I got in touch with Vita later that night, and by the next day she was working on me. I was completely blown away by the absolute generosity with which she shares her skill. With so much kindness and care, she brought athlete-performance specificity to the physical therapy--and an understanding of dance and its concurrent demands of strength, flexibility, speed, and placement. Her knowledge of sports physiology is impressively comprehensive, and acupuncture is but one of her talents. On the first day, recognizing that this is my livelihood and that sitting around resting was not really an option, she did hands-on work to smooth the muscles, then applied kinesiology tape in a way I couldn't have figured out on my own (and neither could the internet)--the relief was instantaneous. She started me on rehabilitation exercises almost right away, taking into account exactly how the body would compensate (and how I might try to cheat the true path to recovery). For in between sessions, she taught me how to tape the leg, massage out the muscles, use compression socks, when to ice and heat, which exercises to do and how. She maintained the appropriate pace with really specific guidance, for example: Day 0: "No jumping or running, period" Day 2: "No performing that part until you can do 3 sets of 25 relevés" Day 12: "Small double leg jumps are okay, no single leg jumps yet" Just as important as the physical recovery, she helped take away the fear, which was very real. This sense of trust in both her and myself made the acupuncture as easy as going to a spa: 15 minutes of lying cozily under a heat lamp with three tiny needles, reminding the muscles how to work, and afterward feeling as satisfied as if I had been working out. Forever grateful to Vita for enabling me to be back on the stage.

Presidio Sport & Medicine came as a non-negotiable from my surgeon (he even messaged the owner during my initial appt to make sure they would fit me in)! This is a well oiled machine, despite always been very busy - everyone from the receptionists to the therapists and trainers are so patient oriented. Each session starts with an assessment of how you're doing and no two sessions are exactly the same. They tailor the treatment to meet you where you are on that day. The care that they provide is unmatched and I feel better informed and treated than I ever have at a PT place before. Even the trainers who walk you through your exercises are awesome and while PT is often uncomfy as you recover from an injury, they make the process that much better. I will have to give a new update once I am fully recovered, but until then you will find me very happily going to Presidio Sport 2x week :)
