After trying several chiropractors in California over the years, this is the first time I can genuinely say that I am completely satisfied--not only with the treatment, but with the entire approach to understanding and improving my overall condition. From the beginning, Dr. Altan impressed me with his professionalism, knowledge, precision, and attention to detail. What makes his approach so different is that treatment doesn't simply begin with an adjustment. There is a thorough evaluation first--including X-rays, posture analysis, spinal alignment, range of motion, the movement and position of the head, flexibility, and other assessments designed to understand what is actually happening with your body before deciding how to treat it. For me, that makes an enormous difference. I don't feel that I am receiving a generic chiropractic treatment; I feel that there is a real understanding of my individual situation and a clear purpose behind what Dr. Altan does. Most importantly, I can feel the results. My overall condition has improved, and for the first time after my previous experiences with chiropractic care, I truly feel confident that I am in the right hands. It may sound strange, since I have not yet actually been to Montecito Chiropractic, but I want to leave a pre-emptive review. This is about amazing customer service from Sara. I was really suffering from crippling vertigo and was looking at treatments. I called and spoke to Sara who gave me a great feeling of confidence that they would be able to assist, as they had many patients who suffered the same. I had booked an appointment with Urgent Care to rule out any obvious causes, but told her I would be back in touch the following week, after the appointment. To my surprise and delight, Sara checked in with me the next week, wondering how I was and if I needed an appointment. Luckily, I had done a deep dive into the causes of BPPV and different maneuvers (Epley, especially) on YouTube and had the vertigo under control from home I have every intention of becoming a client due to the professionalism, kindness and prompt communication I have experienced with Sara. This office came highly recommended by some of my neighbors but I was shocked at the lack of transparency with pricing. I called to make an appointment and when I asked about how much the X-rays, exam, and adjustments would cost, the receptionist told me the doctor would talk to me about that during the initial consultation which is free. I pushed a bit and asked one more time and got the same answer. I felt it was fishy but decided to go anyway. No wonder they don't tell you over the phone! The X-rays alone we're going to cost me $350! I explained that I am a fully self supporting student and the doctor was quick to give me a discount, which I appreciated, but it was still far too expensive for me. I just wish they would've made their pricing clear before I wasted their and my time by going for an exam. They also recorded the audio of my consultation where they asked me a bunch of questions about my health and treatment history. I appreciate how thorough they were, but I have no idea why an audio recording would be necessary as the doctor took written notes. It made me uncomfortable. read more

Montecito Chiropractic is absolutely fantastic. I'm in my 20's and have experience back pain for years. Dr. Vince is beyond amazing and welcomes everyone with gracious joy and warm kindness. Amazing! You won't be disappointed. I have been going to Montecito Chiropractic for about 5 months now and just came across their first review. It seems as though that person did not really want to get better. Yeah sure, for some it can be a bit uncomfortable at first, but if your body is out of alignment for a long time, it's going to take a while to get realigned and allow the healing process to begin. MCC is not a regular chiropractic office, in that 1 adjustment will make feel better. It is a life changing practice that can take time and if you go in for 1 adjustment you are just doing yourself an injustice. I find it hard to believe that their experience with Dr. Egan was a bad one. I have been adjusted by her since she started and she is a very competent doctor. She communicates very well and has helped me through any back pain I have had in the past. I have been to a few chiropractors in my time, and the staff at MCC is one of the best I have come across. I feel better than I have in years and I owe it all to Dr. Egan and Montecito Chiropractic. I know this sounds like a phony testimonial, but I truly believe that this place has changed my life. Give them a chance, just don't go in for a single adjustment, for it defeats the purpose of the practice. read more

I thought Dr. Monica Egan was professional and very friendly during my evaluation, however I will not be returning because of my experience with the reception desk. They had the sales approach of a used car salesmen when they were trying to sign me up with future sessions. When I clearly explained my plan was to purchase the large bulk of sessions at the end of the month when I could receive a small discount, they were very pushy to me to purchase a one time session that day, and then to pay $200 upfront which I had already had explained I was not going to do. They did not want to take no for an answer, and it was unprofessional to be that aggressive. For a place that promotes health and wellness, this behavior was unsettling, because when you set up chiropractic sessions, it's important to be consistent with visits. The reception desk did not have my health or best interest at heart, so I will be seeking help from another chiropractic care provider. read more

I went to Montecito Chiropractic for an old neck & back injury that had been feeling a little tight. I've been to Chiropractors before & have always left their offices feeling better. This situation, unfortunately was nothing like any past experience I've had. I wish I didn't have to give a star... I saw Dr. Monica Egan, a 20 something, extremely inexperienced "Dr." A basic consultation took over 3 hours & x-rays alone (3 x-rays), took about 45 minutes, because she forgot to put the film in every time. She uses, "um," & "like," & "uh" so often that I was finishing her sentences. I should've listened to my instincts, but since I've had only good Chiropractic experiences with other offices, I decided to come back for my adjustment. Their office is like a patient conveyer belt, no private adjusting rooms & there are about 6 tables next to each other on the other side of the reception desk. You actually go from sitting in the lobby to walking 10 feet to a table in the same noisy open room. You also have to put your face protector down & lay there for the Dr & wait. My first adjustment consisted of Dr. Egan asking me to go to the Drop Table at the end of the row of tables. After touching my spine for less than 30 seconds she let the head rest out from under me without any warning. Then I was told to sit in a chair & close my eyes for 20 minutes so my Atlas could settle into the adjustment... When I left the office I realized that she injured me after a couple of hours. I had an extremely bad headache & a stiff, tight, painful back, neck & gluts. It's been almost 2 weeks & I'm still in pain. Now I have to see an Orthopedist & Dr. Egan's response has been, "I probably shouldn't have put you on that table." This office is very unprofessional & I hope no one else has to go through this. The last thing anyone wants is an overly aggressive Dr, that doesn't listen to their patient. read more

UPPER CERVICAL SPECIALIST When I first came in to see Dr. Monica Egan my neck was in bad shape. My range of motion was limited and I was in chronic pain. I had been in a Motor Vehicle Accident and was suffering from a pretty bad case of whiplash, and I was periodically experiencing a frozen and extremely painful neck. I have been in Dr. Egan's healing hands for the past year and I cannot tell you how grateful I am to have found a chiropractor who not only knows how to adjust my spine, she actually helps my body to heal. Her adjustments are always gentle, and so my body does not fight the corrections. She helps my neck to relax and gently brings it back to alignment. Hallelujah! Her specialty is in working with the atlas, and upper cervical spine. In the past year I have learned how to sense when my atlas is out of alignment (sometimes from sleeping on it wrong, or driving, or from just plain too much stress...). I am extremely grateful for the care that I receive at Montecito Chiropractic. Past chiropractors I have been to have adjusted me for temporary pain relief and short-term realignment, but for years I kept searching for a chiropractor who could put me on a true path of healing. I have finally found that in Dr. Elena Vince. My goal was to be healthier and stronger than before- NOT just maintain the status quo. When I came to Dr. Vince an old neck injury kept re-occurring with more and more frequency and my lower back was so chronic that I actually stopped citing it as an issue because I had simply adapted to just living with it. Dr. Vince did a nerve scan, performed a skeletal evaluation, took x-rays and recorded a complete health history on our first visit. This is when it became clear to me that she would be treating me as a whole person -rather than treating just symptoms, which is so prevalent in Western medicine. From there I was put on a specific treatment plan to better my health. She also educated me on how the spine contains the nervous system and how each area of the spine corresponds to particular areas of the body. When your spine is misaligned there will be less energy and nutrients going to certain internal organs- which made complete sense since I've had a chronically bad lower back for years along with two major abdominal surgeries. I finally realized they are connected! Today I am strong and healthy and am no longer in fear that I'm about to throw my neck out if I make a wrong move or sleep without my neck pillow. An added benefit is that my libido has shot through the roof- which makes sense since my lower back was compromised for years, now that it is regularly in alignment, that area of my body is now receiving the nutrients and energy it has been craving. So now I need to go find a boyfriend. I will be sure to have him send Dr. Vince a thank you note when he surfaces... I give Dr. Vince my highest recommendation and am thrilled to have found her. Seriously, I've had much better care/results here than any of my MD's where I pay quite a bit in monthly medical expenses for services I only use 1-2 times a year! I've had severe scoliosis for most of my life, and as a result my body has been very crooked and uneven, and my neck listed at an odd angle. I started getting adjusted here in October, the doctors are amazing at what they do as well as amazing people. They are very accommodating and genuinely care about your well being. I really wanted to write a good review, because I like Dr. Vince. She's cheery, upbeat and positive. I know she's intelligent, but the level of chiropractic care I've received over the past 6 months has been subpar. I kept giving it more chances because she's positive and while I did experience some level of relief, the results were minimal compared to the new chiropractor I'm seeing now (Dr. Orcutt). Her adjustments are too similar for all patients (she does an open-adjustment room, so I see others getting adjusted) and she never adjusted my ankels and wrists or legs even when it really would have helped. My new chiropractor adjusted me in more locations than just the neck and back, and I felt better after one adjustment with him than I have from 6 months of treatment with Dr. Vince! Also, Montecito Chiropractic wasn't covered by my insurance whereas my new chiropractor is. Overall, I feel that I wasted a lot of time and money here and would not recommend it. read more

I have had a very positive experience at montecito chriropractic center. This has been my first experience working with a chiropractor and I have had great results. I worked with Dr. Monica Egan the last several months who has kept me well informed through the process. This stuff takes time. I get a massage once a week and am very active, since the adjustments received my masseuse can't believe how much my neck has loosened up. This was pretty much the only tense area I had from an older Brazilian-jujitsu injury. I feel stronger and better balanced in my workouts. My handstands have improved almost instantly.
