I really liked this place, very neat, cosy with an elegant interior like a proper tea room. Different food choices but we came for tea and dessert. So we end up having different types of green tea and moon cake and it was very delicious. I would highly recommend this cafe, its quite, great for relaxing and enjoying a pot of tea or meeting up with friends.

Other patrons will come in and get menus and unless I actively flag someone (usually only one person on the floor) down, I never get served. On my third time, I thought I'd wait to see how long it took. Over an hour went by (while I was using my laptop and their wifi) and still no one came to me. Finally my friend stopped by and just ordered at the till. It's a cute place and good working spot but I won't be coming back. Again, hate to make this a race issue but as the only non-Asian, non-white person in there (every time)and then to be ignored consistently on multiple occasions is upsetting. It's really easy: serve good food and be mildly attentive to your customers. Won't be recommending this place until something changes. Update: approached the staff member and confirmed only one member of staff working and while I empathize, just saying "Sorry" without any meaning behind it , isn't good enough.

Not to start with a clichee but the Tea Garden is literally an oasis in the middle of Dublin that…read moreone can go to nurture both their taste buds and their soul. I don't know if there's anything quite like it in Dublin but the Tea Garden earns the attribute of "chill" more than any other place I have visited from Thailand to San Francisco. You get into the Tea Garden by going down a winding set of stairs. Inside, you'll be welcomed with very soothing music, sometimes just sound-therapy style white noise and sometimes subtle lounge music. Downstairs, there are two areas with some really comfortable couches, some tables and an area out back where you can sit/lie down on the floor and cushions to truly lounge. Upstairs, there's an area with more tables and another couch and 3-4 large stalls made of bamboo where you can have some privacy while you lounge and enjoy your tea and hookah. Tea Garden does specialize in high-quality teas, so do expect to pay a bit more than your garden-variety tea at a cafe but the quality and presentation are top notch. The types and quality of tea that can be found here are representative of this approach to high quality tea. If you are new to the world of tea, I could suggest picking one of the white teas or the oolongs to taste something unique. If you like chai, you'll probably enjoy the masala chai tea which is really well done here. The hookah (sheesah) here is also quite good, although, I am a total hookah snob. I do think that the blends that they used are selected such that they will be a good compliment to tea as opposed to a regular hookah smoking experience. That said, the only other place I know that serves hookah in Dublin is the Morroccan place around the corner and Tea Garden's hookah is better. Finally, it is worth noting that the staff is very good but at the same time make a distinct effort to not be in your face to let you relax like you would at home. So if you have a burning need after you have made your initial order, it might be a minute before they come around.

I had heard they had beautiful gardens and a nice place to stop for lunch. I have to say, the gardens were indeed absolutely beautiful. There was a wedding being prepared inside the house, so you weren't allowed to go inside when I was there. However, I'm not sure if you're normally allowed inside or not. After spending about an hour walking around the grounds and snapping photos, we stopped at the little outdoor cafe by the manor house for some coffee and lunch. We each had a sandwich which came with a little side salad. There was also nice classical/light jazz music playing in the background. I have to say, it made for quite the relaxing afternoon. From the area where they serve food, you overlook the gardens as you sit out in the sun. If it does start raining, which, because this is Ireland, invariably it will... they do have some limited seating. Would love to come here next time and sit outside with some wine. :)

I used to be a frequent breakfast visitor to the Straffan tea rooms and four of us decided to…read morereturn today after a few months going to other venues. Today was not the same positive experience we used to enjoy. 1. I ordered the full Irish and asked for side of sweet potato (as shown on the vegetarian menu) instead of black pudding. The server said I can't have that. I didn't think I heard her correctly and asked if they have any potato. "Yes but you can only have it with the vegetarian breakfast as we have a limited supply." Never knew Ireland was short on spuds! 2. My friend has a sensitivity to egg yolks and asked for eggs with just whites. It couldn't happen as the chef can not separate (I'm not a chef but I can do this!) She then asked for the fried egg to be so well done that she could cut the yolk out. The eggs came nearly as runny as a poached egg. 3. We were offered a choice of white or brown toast with our breakfast. Later the server said that the white bread had not been cooked yet. We had to have homemade brown bread which is not the same with a full Irish breakfast. 4. We asked for jam for the brown bread. The server brought a mini side of jam that was barely enough for one piece of brown bread not the 8 slices at our table For the €13 breakfast (with coffees), we would expect a better experience like we get at Avoca's Egg Cafe

I popped in for breakfast with friends just before Christmas. Had a lovely poached egg with sausages (yummo - they source them from nearby Celbridge). The baked goods all looked gorgeous, and my son devoured his pastry without letting me try a bite! Staff was friendly and efficient, the prices were great, but mostly I'd recommend the Victorian Tea Rooms for the cosy atmosphere. Plus, the shopping at the Straffan Courtyard is not to be missed!
