I would give ZERO starts if I could! Based solely on LACK of professionalism & the fact that I left in tears (NOT the happy kind!). I stopped by to show Maria a photo of my wedding dress & talk to her about the problem I was running into with getting it altered. I did not want to waste either of our time by bringing in my dress, trying it on, & the whole ordeal until I knew if she would be able to do what was needed. She answered the phone twice for what were clearly personal phone calls in just the few minutes I was there, but in the time we actually did speak, we were not understanding each other. She finally said she is very busy & needs to get back to a dress she was working on. I explained that I know she's busy (that's why I didn't bother bringing the dress- just tried to have a quick convo), but I was also trying to give her business. She THEN tells me about the great number of years she's been in business & that one dress will make no difference to her. She kept repeating that she does not want my business & does not want to help me. This woman... this "business-owner" was the rudest, cold-hearted woman I have ever come across. Apparently she is so successful & busy that she can afford to be rude & unprofessional to potential customers. I have used Maria's tailor service many times. She ALWAYs does a great job. I usually dont try on the clothes when she has completed the project because they are always a great fit. She is a lovely person and very nice to deal with. the only reason I didnt give her 5 stars is she gets busy and can be slower than Id like. It is a little pricey - but yuo get what you pay for. I am very impressed with Maria's business integrity. I took some pants in today to get hemmed, and while she could have done the job herself and charged me a certain amount, she readily recommended that I take it down the street to Craft Cleaners in order to get it done for a lower price. Apparently she didn't have the specific equipment to do it easily and therefore would have had to charge me a higher price. However, she had the integrity to simply advise me to go elsewhere and save some money. I really appreciate that kind of honesty on her part. read more

I wholeheartedly agree with Barbara. Maria is the best tailor I've met and that's why I keep going back to her. She has done some extensive work to many pieces of mine and the end result is always impeccable. However, she does take a really long time to finish things and is incredibly expensive. I've strayed once or twice in the interest of time and money, but always end up going back to her. She also doesn't take debit or credit cards, so be sure to bring your check book or cash. read more

This is in response to Veronica. My sister's hem was actually done much better than mine. And for less than half the price that Maria charged me. I don't understand how anyone can ever defend charging $95 for a hem to be fixed. How can you possibly say that is a reasonable price? And the worst part is, Maria completely swindled me. I asked her the price when I first dropped it off and she would not give me a straight answer. I was at fault for not pressing her to give me the price before I left the dress with her but no one in their right mind would assume it would be even close to $95. How could the hem be $95 when the cost of the dress was $150? Also, Maria told me it took her 3 days to do the hem and you say 6 hours. So it appears you both know how to lie and do it often. You can ask anyone that knows how to sew, a hem is the easiest thing for a seamstress to do. Even if it is a difficult hem, it should not take her 6 hours, let alone 3 days. So either Maria is a bad tailor and it takes her a long time to do the work that it takes others much less time to do or you both are very big liars. I hope people who read this DO NOT go to Maria's Tailor Shop. But if they do, please remember to ask her how much it will cost BEFORE you leave and have her WRITE IT DOWN. Then you will know right away that you are getting overcharged and can go somewhere else. Also, if anyone is foolish enough to still go there, just know that you will receive the clothing back wrinkled. This is the first time in my life that I had to go get something pressed after leaving the tailor. It usually is perfectly pressed and ready to be worn right when I walk out the door. And after overpaying, I would expect the dress to at least be pressed. But after dealing with her and seeing her customer service, I'm not surprised it wasn't. I find it very funny that you keep saying I need anger management. You keep trying to paint me as the villain and Maria as the victim when it is completely the other way around. You can say whatever you want about me, it doesn't even matter. After reading the lies you have written, I could care less about you or your opinion. At the end of the day, you still have not argued with the fact that she charged me $95 to fix a hem and that the dress was not pressed when I left. That is all the public really needs to know to decide whether they should go to Maria's or not. read more
