Working with Dorli on my wedding dress was stressful and ultimately needed to be fixed by a different seamstress. I brought my wedding dress in to Dorli in May 2021 to be hemmed, taken in at the bust, and bustled. I have larger hips so needed to size up with the dress, but my bust is very small in comparison. In the consultation, the seamstress said she would be able to take care of all of these things. The first fitting was disorganized. She essentially forgot about our appointment and, even after two months, the dress was not ready for me. Luckily I still had another month until the wedding. The second fitting was okay. The dress had been hemmed well and she had a creative idea for the bustle. I let her know that the bust was still way too big and I wanted to be closer to my natural size. She had cut out cups in the first fitting and now added them back in (and charged me for it). Everything fell apart at the third fitting. The dress had been taken in so much at the shoulders and at the waist that I could not move my arms. No alternations had been made to the bust. I expressed that it was still too big on top but was told there was nothing else she could do, except potentially add another set of cups. The bustle looked nice, but wasn't actually functional: when bustled, the long lace train was too heavy for one hook and pulled the dress away from my back. I came home and cried. I was out $425 and the beautiful $1,000 dress I fell in love with looked horrible. With only two weeks to the wedding, I was officially panicking. Luckily, my matron of honor found a retired seamstress who worked out of her home and was able to help on short notice. Within minutes, she undid the shoulders (thank god the lace wasn't cut!) and took out the cups that were sewn into the bodice to make the bust smaller. It was a significant improvement. It might also be worthwhile to add that one of my bridesmaids also used Dorli to have her dress hemmed and shoulder straps shortened -- and one of the shoulder straps broke during the wedding, leaving her with one strap too long all night. The one star that Dorli gets is that they covered half of the seamstress's fee to repair the dress. I actually hadn't planned to write a review at all, since I was also told that the seamstress would be retiring... which, judging by Diane's review, she did not. I feel terrible that I did not write this review earlier to save Diane the heartache. I also still feel sad when I think about how much better my dress could have fit if I had gone somewhere else. TLDR: While Dorli may be a safe bet for basic hemming; DO NOT go there for more complex work. read more

I got my wedding dress on clearance from David's Bridal since an expensive dress was not important to me. The dress fit pretty well except for being about an inch too long, and a bit too tight. My mom kept bugging me to get it altered but I didn't feel like spending the extra money on a dress I'd wear once, I figured I'd get by fine for the 12 or so hours I'd be in it. I never tried my dress on in the months after buying it until about 6 weeks before the wedding and my mom made me try it on for her. I'm glad she did because it turned out the clasp on the back was broken and it was so tight (probably from wedding-planning stress-eating) that she couldn't get the zipper up. I went on the David's Bridal website to make an appointment for alterations and there was NOTHING available at any of the nearby locations...except one time slot on July 4th. As I was sitting there panicking about what to do I thought, why don't I look up a local tailor? Dorli had such amazing reviews and as a bonus was so much closer to my house than David's Bridal. I called her up first thing in the morning and she answered the phone immediately and I asked if they had any appointments available within the next week or so, she said I could come in that day! She was very nice and very professional, and my dress came back great and within a few weeks, I couldn't even tell it had been altered. And I didn't trip over my dress or think about the length at all my whole wedding day except when I took my heels off and then it was too long - I do think the length would have been very annoying and distracting on our big day if I hadn't gotten it hemmed. She even steamed it for me. I'm not sure what the pricing would be if I had ended up going to DB but I bet it would've been way more than what Dorli charged me. I found her prices to be very fair, even though I hadn't planned to spend any money on alterations at all. The biggest expense was getting the hemming done but only because my dress had like 6 layers. I will recommend her to anyone and will also definitely use this tailor again if I ever need anything else hemmed in the future. Support local business and go to Dorli first! I am not one to write reviews, but I could not hold myself back with this case. If I could give ZERO stars I would, since 1 star is giving Dorli too much credit. All of these 4/5 star reviews seem to be VERY fabricated, and I decided to use her based on these fake reviews. The review from @Patti Koncius is SPOT on. Every single detail that Patti mentions in her complaint is EXACTLY what happened to me with Dorli. Except in my situation, she BUTCHERED my wedding dress. I purchased a beautiful dress for $1500 from BHLDN and due to covid we had to quickly change our wedding date, and I needed my dress tailored ASAP. Since Dorli's shop is titled "BRIDAL and tailor" I trusted her with the all the small details that she claimed could be fixed in time. When I came back to try my dress on again I was in shock. Nothing about the reconstruction of this dress made ANY logical sense. I could have done a better job with a needle and thread. She kept making excuses for her shitty craftsmanship and made it seem as if it was impossible to do the basic requirements that I asked from her. The dress was WAY too short, she pulled the shoulders up so much that the boob darts were sitting on my collar bone, she took the lace sleeves in in such a careless way that I could not bend my arm without the lace ripping. Also, as irrelevant as this may be, her store is absolutely filthy, with a dirty rug that my brand new wedding dress was dragging along. Not to mention that I started hysterically crying in her shop since my wedding was less than 10 days away, yet she still had the nerve to yell at my mother saying "I DID WHAT YOU ASKED!", and charged me a FULL price of $500. She THEN claimed that the dress would "fill out better" if I added bra cups (which I stupidly believed her), WHICH SHE HAD THE NERVE TO CHARGE ME an EXTRA $25 for after seeing how upset I was with the her work. Instead of fixing the issue, she slapped on 2 bra cups and the sloppiest way, I could not believe my eyes. It actually made the dress worse. Since I was 10 days away from my wedding, I had to purchase a brand new dress for $1000 (plus a $200 rush fee) and now I am stuck with a $2000 butchered dress that I am unable to fix or even sell to anyone (since it is a total mess) thanks to Dorli. I needed minor alterations and changed to my dress TWO WEEKS in advance to my wedding, not to mention basic steaming for my dress and veils- she made it happen in a week! The dress had fit me, but the beading was rubbing against my arms, and I knew I wouldn't be able to survive HOURS in the dress without being miserable. Her services were more than I could have ever asked for....and for a fraction of a price that other places would have charged me. I am so glad I went to Dorli Bridal & Tailor for my wedding dress alterations! I was SO nervous about finding a seamstress, having bought my dress in NC where I was living at the time, with no one to ask in this area for recommendations. For every seamstress on yelp in larger areas, even if there are lots of good reviews, the one or two "she ruined my dress" reviews scared me. Dorli had such positive reviews and was in a super convenient location. Dorli and the other gentleman who works there altered the length of my gown, which included removing the lace trim at the bottom and reattaching it to the shortened dress, sewed in cups and a bustle, and shorted the straps. She did this all in about 3 weeks. When I came in to try the dress on, we decided that the straps needed to be adjusted a little more. Not a problem - she had it ready the next week. She also answered all of my questions and eased all of my concerns. My dress is very light and delicate and Dorli did an amazing job making it fit like a glove without any notice of alterations. The price was also incredibly reasonable. I was budgeting almost double for alterations because I had heard that these things can get incredibly expensive. I will be coming back here for any and all alteration needs. I'd also recommend picking up some food from Tacorito while you're already in the area! Please run as fast as you can. Just like the last two girls. I'm confused on the other brides saying they had a good experience . I left hysterically crying and her husband had the nerve to begin yelling at me to where I said sir please stop yelling at me as I'm standing there in my gown. Dorli sent him back to the back. He told me he couldn't guarantee my zipper would work if they took it in more. (Mind you I can fit my entire hand in the back of my dress). They just took the dress and began cutting away. It looks like my niece could have done a better job. Dorli also lied to me and said the double lace was apart of the original dress . And when u showed her the original she changed her story and said it needs to be that way to secure the zipper. Please spend the money on someone who knows what they are doing. I'm traumatized and I'm 4 days out. I told her it looks like a bag on me and she tried to say she can't take it on because I have to sit. I'm so very sad about my gorgeous dress. Future brides please please look elsewhere. I have to get alterations done at another seamstress for $600. Dorli was rude & so was her husband. Dorli hemmed my completely beaded wedding gown to perfection. She also created a tiny bustle for me, sewed in a bra and tightened the straps on my very heavy dress. She also did my soon to be husbands shirt, took sleeves from one shirt and sewed them onto another shirt. My sons jacket as well, she hemmed the sleeves. My dress fits like a glove, even after losing more weight she had me try on right before we left for our destination wedding so it would look perfect. STOP! Do not bring your formal wear here. After reading reviews, which I now know are lies, I brought my Mother of the bride ball gown to be hemmed, and have the bustline taken in. I spent over 45 minutes with her talking about how concerned I was that the lower back was too tight. She said that it couldn't be taken out since the bustline had to be taken in. I went back 2 weeks later to find out that she never took the bustline in BUT TOOK IN THE LOWER BACK AND WAIST 4 INCHES. Needless to say the dress did not close... After 4 alteration sessions the dress fit, although it was misshapen. She still charged me $100 for the hem, which i found out the day of the wedding was wrong too. It was too long, which was amazing since the other 4 dresses she did for the bridal party were hemmed too short and not taken in enough. I ended up taking my dress to another seamstress who couldn't believe the horrible mess the dress was in. I don't know what happened but even the easiest things she did wrong. I was looking for a tuxedo for prom, and since I'm in school and I definitely didn't own one nor was looking into buying one. Dorli Bridal had a fantastic assortment of tuxedos for rental. I browsed through the store inventory as well as catalog and was able to find a few that interested me before trying them on. When I selected the winner, the seamstress took my measurements and made the tuxedo custom fitted to me! It looked and felt better than when I originally tried it on. Very James Bond-esque. And the best part of my experience here... she asked me if I would be interested in bringing my date in, with her dress, so she could color coordinate my tie and vest to her's! My date apparently recommended all her girlfriends to have their boyfriends go there so they'd match too. I recently went to Dorli's Tailor to alter my wedding dress for my small wedding taking place this June. After having me try the dress on, Dorli immediately understood what I wanted changed and pinned the dress to reflect that. When I came back to pick up my dress, I tried it on and was so impressed by both the quality of the work and the way the dress fit. It truly looked like it had been made for me. I found a cute dress that was too short. Since the dress was the same shade as the dress I got married in.
