Well after coming from selling my blood at CSL plasma I was gonna try Italian cuisine but I was kind of like in a hurry sincesince they're the only CSL plasma center that's open on Sunday but they're all the way in the south suburbs not the south side. I'm surprised it's only 2 and 1/2 Stars on Yelp. When I used to work down in Tinley Park and go to CSR I kept saying this pancake restaurant. It was decently good at least three stars. I know there are better breakfast places but it's not that bad I mean in Chicago there is Golden Nugget which there are not too many it was a franchising it's a quality of Golden Nugget breakfast restaurants. I mean it's not up to a original pancake House waker Brothers quality book it's certainly not IHOP or Denny's which is why you pay a little more. For $13 just to get a hearty omelette I was pretty satisfied but omelette was actually the one that tasted Delicious. It's a very satisfying omelet if you haven't anything early in the morning and I had a very light breakfast yet I'm eating breakfast food after doing my cardio business every weekend. The cheese and the ham and the Hardy omelette tasted fresh and they give you a good amount of eggs so it's not like a small portion like going into a Denny's or IHOP. They also give you a decent amount of hash browns which is just okay tasting wise it wasn't bad but it wasn't something I would do cartwheels or get excited about. You had a choice between grits and pancakes and I haven't had pancakes for a while and I'm not a big fan of grits since I'm not from the south. Service was actually pretty quick in regards to them bringing your food but then again this is breakfast food and it's nothing elaborate if not for most of the items on the menu or American cuisine with hamburgers and corned beef hash. Ambience felt like Golden Nugget restaurant up north. One of those kind of I hate to use the words "grease spoon"restaurants or diner but what can you expect if you think this is going to be bougie. I would come back when I have a craving for waffles or crepes is what I also saw their menu hopefully it's as good as their omelette. Otherwise I read it three stars. This place always hits the spot and never a wait to be seated. Each time I'm greeted with friendly and accommodating hospitality. I visited Maria's in December 2021 on a Monday at 11AM. The restaurant was uncrowded and they appeared to practice social distancing protocols. The restaurant was clean, but it does need some remodeling and renovations. Marias is next door to Dollar Tree in a strip mall, so there is plenty of parking in that area. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. We were seated right away, and the order way placed soon after. I enjoyed my meal. I ordered the Turkey Club Sandwich, which was made with turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo. The sandwich was a large serving and very tasty. It also came with a bowl of potato soup which was salty, but edible. The Waffle fries were great. This meal cost about 11 dollars. In previous reviews I read that Marias only accepted cash only. In December 2021, I used a debit card with no problem. I would return to this restaurant again because the food was good, the portions were big, and the prices were reasonable. read more

I started ordering here in March of 2024. Mainly ordering the Mexican Omelette and put on the ordering notes, no tomatoes in the omelette. On April 19 2025 I ordered, order came back the tomatoes, the told me I could come in and bring the receipt and they would compensate me. I don't live in the area and only order when at work. Yesterday, my husband and I decided to have breakfast at Maria's. It used to be our restaurant of choice for breakfast. We have not gone there in a while nor have we ordered online. Without going into all of the reasons why we do not frequent, yesterday solidified that we will NEVER go back there. We started off by ordering coffee. The packet of silverware was wrapped in a napkin. When I opened to stir my coffee, it had caked on food that looked disgusting!!!. We decided that we did not want anything from them so we left and went to Big Apple where we had a wonderful breakfast in a clean environment. A dear friend lives overseas and I live in Florida, so we don't have much chance to visit. She said that Maria's was recommeended to her, and we went right as they opened and stayed 3 hours I had the banana crepes, which were very wonderful but far to large a portion so my friend took some home. The menu has a very wide range of breakfast & lunch choices and our meals were a very good value. I definitely plan to eat there again when I go back to town in November. Highly recommend. read more

The owner is unprofessional and very slow. I've ordered from this restaurant for years despite the owner. My last straw was this Mother's Day. They didn't take any call in orders which I can somewhat understand for Mother's Day. So I go there to order in person, preparing for a long wait. I get there and there are 4 people in front of me ordering in person because as I mentioned, the phones are just ringing as 3 other people stand next to the owner doing absolutely nothing. Also the place is not super busy at all. It's been way busier in a normal Sunday. I'm in line for over 15 minutes as the owner slowly takes the orders of the 4 people in front of me, just to get to the front of the line and owner tells me that they aren't taking anymore orders and that the kitchen is closed for an hour. He saw me wait in line for 20 mins, and he's seen me in there picking up orders all the time, and he's seen tells me this on Mother's Day, while trying to order breakfast for my wife. I've passed Maria's over the years many times, but never felt the need to stop in. I happened to be in the area last weekend and decided to stop in for breakfast with my sister. The restaurant was very crowded, but we were lucky enough to be seated immediately. There appeared to be only three waitresses on duty even though they were slammed. Our waitress was nice, but she wasn't attentive due to the large volume of customers. She got my order wrong and it took me at least 10 minutes to get her attention. I ordered the french toast with bacon and eggs. The waitress brought out my plate with sausage links though. My sister opted for the eggs, hash browns, and bacon. She also ordered a side of corned beef hash. I also ordered a glass of orange juice. The food was pretty good. We have no complaints and judging by the food alone this probably would have been a 4 star review. The reason I'm giving it three stars is because of something that happened that rubbed me the wrong way. When I let the waitress know that I had asked for bacon and not sausage she came and took the sausage links off my plate! I wasn't going to eat them anyway, but the fact that she felt the need to do that felt petty. I even asked her if she planned to serve it to someone else. She laughed nervously and said, "of course not"... but I don't know. There's was absolutely NO reason for her to come get the sausage unless A) it was going to be put on someone else's plate or B) they just wanted to ensure that I as a paying customer wouldn't get something extra for free. Either way it just wasn't a good look for the restaurant IMO because I guarantee that wouldn't have happened in a predominately white area. The restaurant patrons were overwhelmingly African American (99%) while the staff appeared to be exclusively Hispanic and Caucasian. I'm not even one to normally pull the race card... but when something so blatantly obvious is staring you in the face all you can do is call it out. My guess is that they warmed up that sausage and put it on someone else's plate. In fact, I'd bet my life on it. For that reason alone I wouldn't return to Maria's and honestly I should probably call the health department to report it. I've NEVER EVER had a waitress request to take food off my plate when the order was incorrect. Nothing about the situation felt right. It's a shame too because the food at Maria's is actually good! The meal cost about $25 for the two of us which is fairly reasonable. I tipped the waitress 20% even though I wasn't happy with the service. read more

This was my second visit to Maria's Pancake House. The name and logo does not really scream "hello I am a breakfast place", but who am I to judge. Staff is friendly and their menu covers just about everything you can want for breakfast. Upon my first visit I had a skillet that was absolutely delicious. On my second visit I tried their house speciality the Grilled Chicken with Eggs. Served with hashbrowns and choice of toast or pancakes. Everything I ordered was great and the portions were plenty. The grilled chicken was char-broiled and not dry, I loved the fact it was served with a lemon wedge on the side. The reason for only 4-stars, the services is a tad slow. I imagine perhaps they were under staffed that morning because it was not like this during my initial visit. I wouldn't let that discourage anyone from visiting. A really good pancake house. I love how close it is to my parent's house so I always go whenever I am home for more than just a weekend. We often order skillets, since it is a good amount of potato, eggs & toppings, and also comes with pancakes (or toast. But why would you pick toast over pancakes??). About $8-10 each. The veggie skillet is good because the vegetables aren't too soggy, and it tastes pretty fresh. I also like the Boston skillet. Not THE BEST corn beef hash, but alright with me. The Turkey skillet is good (turkey sausage and bacon), and any other skillet that offer a variety of meats. Some times they are skimpy on the eggs. This restaurant and it's Owner is the worst! Let me start by saying the waitress was terrible. She took so long with our order that the waffle I ordered was so cold the butter did not melt when she served it to me. At first I thought that maybe the butter was frozen like ice cream. But when I touched the waffle with my finger to see if indeed the waffle was cold, well it was cold even though the plate was warm from the hot plate warmer. I asked the waitress if I could receive a hot waffle off the waffle griddle because the waffle was cold, she asked if I wanted the waffle heated up in the MICROWAVE in order to make the butter melt. I stated to her the waffle was cold and I didn't order a frozen waffle from the freezer, I ordered a freshly cooked waffle. After going back and forth with the waitress, I asked for the owner. The waitress first stated he would not come over. The owner, a Hispanic male, reluctantly came to my table and asked the same question that the waitress asked "Do you want the waffle heated in the microwave?" He had such a arrogant, non content interest in the fact that I was a PAYING customer who was patronizing his establishment. I really like this place. I went on a Saturday morning and it was busy but we didn't wait to long. They have flavored creamer which is a big deal for me. The portion sizes are really huge. I had a skillet and it was just ridiculously large. The pancakes were really good, they remind me of IHOPs pancakes (I really like their pancakes too). The place is not very expensive either.
