I'm from the Bay Area.. and I am Hispanic. I love Chile Relleno but it is a lot of work to make them. So my first time there the manager, the owner was very friendly. I ordered the chill. Relleno I was very disappointed. It looked like a omelette wrapped around a chili never been back since then I was wishing we finally get a good Mexican restaurant up here but not gonna happen here. read more

Had 2 Spicy pork, and beef taco's for lunch. I read previous review saying it taste bland, and I have to agree without any condiments. But when salsa, and jalapeño added, oh boy- it's Delicious!! Bean was ok, but rice I didn't really liked. If your going to have their food, make sure to order Salsa, and jalapeño!! Super friendly, and clean place to grab homemade style Mexican food. Thank you read more

I came home to Paradise to weed my lot and finally got a chance to visit Maria's Kitchen. There is a stunning Paradise Strong mural and customers painted a beautiful baking scene, donkey signs, and Maria herself! I am vegan and loved that I could have a veggie option. So delish! read more

Check for the right menu above. The first one is out of date. The food is decent but a little pricey. Came with Costco chips. There's no soda fountain or ice to be found. Nice folks. I just wanted to help a paradise business. read more

First tried Maria's Kitchen 3 years ago! Amazing fresh food made with love, passion, and heritage. Another must visit while in Paradise!

It's taqueria style nice but not a restaurant style look & feel. There are rules about chips, requests and something about plates that come with chips taped to every table. Ayayay! We ordered two plates, enchiladas and chile rellano. I didn't want to create waves by asking for chips so I bought a basket. The meals came out separately and the noise of the microwave bell and having delivered a plate... one by one. Didn't appreciate the micro heat and made the beef steak meat rubbery in the enchilada. There's a certain clientele niche here, I'm not sure I'll be a part of it. Yes, there is a nice mural of "Paradise strong" on the wall. read more

The servers are very nice. However, they served my husband his food at least 10 minutes before I got mine. Of course he didn't want to eat til mine came, then it was cold. We didn't care for the food nor all the sauce on the plate. read more

The owner is an authentic Mexican food chef, and her daughter is a very good worker. The interior is rather dated, but the outside is nice. The food didn't hit the spot for me, and it is expensive. Others may like the taste more than I did. read more

What a wonderful place to stop in for a meal. Great quality, fresh ingredients, and a real Mexican feel. I recommend it!

I was very disappointed In the breakfast. I ordered a burrito and it was practically just a large flour tortilla. The inside of the burrito was poorly prepared overall I was not impressed with the place read more

Pretty standard Mexican food. Food was good not great, all the food needed more salt and flavor. Huge patio great for big party or catered event. read more

Would give a zero but it's not an option.... this is basic white girl food.... Do not come here if you are looking for Mexican food.... this is LA Comida with a hefty price tag.... and an extra 3.00 for chips...... buyer beware it is all a lie .....ps staff was pleasant read more

Great hole-in-wall. Yum. They forgot chips one time and brought it by our house. They're super nice too. read more

This place makes the BEST breakfast burrito I have ever had! Their other burritos are also the best...as well as the BEST tacos. I love a good taco! read more

I am new to Magalia and this is already my favorite Mexican food place! The customer service is amazing and the food is delicious! Always great tamales and I cannot wait to try all of the items on the menu. Thank you Maria! read more

Edit: After being publicly "called out" by the restaurant's owner, due to a negative comment I made (similar to this review), on a local rants and raves page, and getting a very snarky email from the owner, I wish I could give less than 1 star. There was a group post made about this restaurant, with hundreds of positive and some negative comments. She chose to make a new post and tag me on it, which made me the target of lots of nasty commentary. There was no apology offered or invitation to return and make sure it was better. I want to emphasize that this was not just personal taste; this was food that should not have been served to anyone. She has a lot of community support, as evidenced by the multiple bashings I took from locals who don't like criticism of their faves. I suggested that she could learn from negative reviews, as well as positive. Original review: I eagerly awaited the opening of an authentic Mexican restaurant in my town. After eating here once, I am still waiting. I ordered chicken tamales and what I got was clearly the last thing they had left in the pan. They should have thrown them out. It was 3 half pieces of tamales and looked like the leftovers from a few plates that had been left uneaten. Just awful. The refried beans had zero seasoning. Not even salt. Inedible. My husband had a chili relleno that was also way over-cooked and probably the last bit scraped from the corner of the pan. Hard, crispy and served in a big mess. He was supposed to have tortillas, which they left out of our order. The chips, which we paid extra for, were clearly scooped from one of this giant bags you get from Costco, for $3.00. This was a very disappointing meal. read more

Had the Chile verde and chicken tacos pretty salty little tough I think 3 stars about right with all the Mexican food around

I love Mexican food and after moving to Paradise and trying Meehos, well, I should've known Meehos would be disappointing just by how they misspell their business name. I continued my search for delicious Mexican food in Paradise and found Maria's! Although it's not the best Mexican I've had, she has a nice sized menu and I appreciate that she offers vegan and vegetarian options as well. Supporting local restaurants is so important, now more than ever! I'll continue supporting Maria's, but I'd like to see improvements in quality of ingredients, seasoning more and making truly authentic chips, instead of store bought. read more

The food is just okay. The owner raised her prices more than 40%, when inflation is only 10%. A children's burrito was $4.00 in April 2022, and 7 months later it is $5.50. Way too much money to pay for just mediocre food. I would rather eat at Taco Bell, it is much cheaper, tastes better, and much more affordable. read more

Love the patio on a nice day. Food is good, Maria and her staff are excellent. Enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere.

My husband and I went to Maria's Kitchen today and ordered two chicken enchilada plates and the food was awful, had absolutely no flavor, the refried beans tasted like out of the can and over cooked. The enchiladas had no flavor and the chips were old and the salsa tasted like crushed tomatoes from a can. And it was very expensive for what we got. We will NEVER go there again! My gawd Taco Bell is better... read more

Yuck! This is awful food. Extremely bland cheap ingredients! Gahhhhh this is just plain laziness. The meat tastes old or from a can. Unmelted cheese in a burrito is just gross! No thanks! read more

After eating here today this is easily the best Mexican food in Butte County. The chile relleno I ordered was amazing along with the beans and rice. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. I can't wait to come back here and try out their enchiladas, tamales, and chile verde. Maria is very nice along with the entire staff. I highly recommend Maria's Kitchen. read more

Tried this place a few times now. Not impressed at all. Both times made me sick and kept me near a bathroom. Tacos are over priced and the burritos (breakfast and lunch) are very greasy and lack authentic flavor. read more

Great food! Their pork tamales are delicious! People are friendly and courteous. Love this restaurant!

Best Food in the Universe! The Tamales are the best you could ever find, and there is no way anyone could ever make them this fresh and this good! Great food, great price, and very very friendly little Home-Cooked Restaurant! read more
