I have nothing but good things to say about these lovely ladies. I had a very short engagement to my wedding and my dress was expedited out of New York with only 1 week for alterations. I walked in hoping and praying that it could be done, and they obliged more than willingly! I picked it up the day before my wedding and it fit perfectly! I had a bridesmaid dress just altered there. A simple alteration of just bringing in an inch on the sides. $160!!! Tried it on and didn't like how it fit (it actually fit worse), and there was no offer to help rectify it or offer suggestions on how to fix it. read more

I took 3 pairs of pants to be hemmed - a pair of khakis for my husband and 2 pairs of jeans for me. Extremely simple jobs, his pants to 31" inseam and both my jeans needed just one turn of the existing hem. Never in my life have I been required to put down a 50% DEPOSIT on hemming!! $78 to hem 3 pairs of pants! Are you freaking kidding me?? If she hadn't already taken the into the back room I would have walked out with my pants and gone elsewhere. Never ever again. I'm 5' tall so I've been having pants hemmed my whole life a dozen places in this country and I've never been so shocked as this time. The prices are not even listed anywhere, likely because people would walk away immediately, so who knows if shes just making it up as she goes. I'll drive to the other side of the city before going back to this place. read more

On the recommendation of the Burberry store, I brought in my leather biker jacket to have the sleeves taken in. While I understand how hard it is to work with leather, I am still disappointed at the lack of skill she had. My preference was for the sleeves to be taken in through the shoulder of the jacket (similar to how sleeves are taken in with suit jackets). I was told that she could not do this and would have to settle for the sleeves getting cut at the cuff. With this I had to lose the leather strap on the sleeves and the sleeve zippers were cut significantly shorter. The alterations went fine but I am still disappointed that she was not an expert tailor as Burberry suggested and was merely a good seamstress. read more

I would never go back here again. The bustle on my wedding dress came out very noticeably lopsided and Marianna was unwilling to admit/fix her mistake. I saw this happen with two other customers as well, where she was uncooperative and denied that there was a problem. Her prices are outrageous, you'd think she's at least be willing to cooperate and address your concerns. Horrendous customer service. read more

I took a chance with a very intricate beaded skirt by Haute Hippie. I bought it online from Saks. I thought it fit but a month later it was sliding down my hips and I could not return. It had a side zipper, beaded tassels, and beads all over. It was not an easy project.....this I was sure. I thought it was on the expensive side but after I saw the quality of her work I was reassured why. I had an amazing Eastern European seamstress in Berlin and I found Marianna to be better. The skirt was perfect and I have never seen that kind of result on something so complicated. I have had many tailors over the years and I know when something is exceptional. I actually tried another business called Southland Prestige Alterations in hope that I might find someone good at a better price. Well, this place was slightly cheaper but they ruined a dress that I considered to take much less skill. I believe this level of skill at Marianna's is unique. She is more of a dress maker than anything. I would trust her with my most expensive pieces in a heart beat. I already have pulled some lovely items out of my wardrobe for her to bring new life to. I cant wait to see the results. She is well versed and educated in this amazing skill. Highly recommended. read more

Marianna is AWESOME! I brought my dress to her to get altered. She did a wonderful job fixing the folds on the dress that were coming apart and did some remodeling: removed straps and made a sweetheart bustier, inserted boning. She listens to you and does exactly what you ask her. I was extremely happy with the fit. I highly recommend her work and will continue to get all my alterations done here. read more

The WORST place I've ever been to. Her prices are ridiculously high. Shop was dirty, back curtain wide open to show the filth in the back room where alterations are done. She was rude when I explained to her I couldn't afford to pay 300.00 to hem a 400.00 dress. I want to make sure everyone is warned about her. I should of read a few more reviews on her before I decided to try her alteration services. Terrible terrible terrible store. read more

I took my $2300 silk wedding dress to her on a recommendation that was later retracted by the store I bought the dress from (they stopped recommending her after many complaints) when I went to pick it up 2 weeks before my wedding, they had taken in in 4 inches in the waist and back(this was not supposed to be done) and sewn the bust cups into the wrong side of the dress material. My mother was very upset and complained(my mother used to be a seamstress) and we were refused the $270.00 dollars back that I had paid.Marianna then accused me of getting fat (I had previously had the dress on 2 week prior and it had fit perfectly) which I thought was hilarious considering I'm a working model who has to watch my weight for my living. When my mother told her this was a terrible business practice and she was going to lodge a complaint, she threw us out of the store. I then had to spend another $250.00 to get my dress fixed by someone else who was horrified by the work that had been done. Please do not go here, no bride deserves to have their dress ruined. read more

This has been my "go-to" place for more than 10 years. I'm short so nearly everything I buy needs to be hemmed but most of the work I need done is simple work. Over the past few years I've been disappointed quite often and I've finally decided that my most recent visit will be my last. The hours of business have never been particularily convenient, not a big deal on its own but one of the disappointments. (If you miss the Saturday 4pm window like I did today you can't get in until Tuesday). The main reason I won't be returning, though, is cost. I took in 2 pairs of pants for hemming. They are gym pants - a pair of velour track pants and a pair of nylon. This is about as simple as it gets when it comes to alterations. At the old location I would have expected the cost to be about $12 each pair, ready for pick up in 2 or 3 days. At $12 a pair its close to not worth it but I was absolutely shocked this time when she rang me through charging $24 for one pair and $26 for the other!! And adding insult to injury they have the nerve to charge an extra 20 cents if you want to use debit and a buck and a half for credit cards. And then the machine asks for a tip too - lol! And - for 2 unbelievably simple, hugely over-charged hems I have to wait 10 days to pick them up (will be 13 days now since I missed the 4pm close)! I have no doubt the new Willowpark Village shop has a higher cost than the previous location a few kms away but prices nearly doubled and wait times tripled isn't acceptable for me. And while I can see the benefit for the shop in moving to the new, higher traffic location - its a negative for me and no doubt many other long standing existing clients. I have to go further and deal with trying to find parking in the busy Village lot now. The quality of the work is fine, nothing spectacular but not a lot problems either (I have been unhappy with some of the more difficult work I've had done). All in all, with these high prices, "nickle and diming" of customers, inconvenient hours of operation and incredibly slow turn around I doubt they will be seeing much in the way of repeat business at the new location. read more
