I trust Westhills Alterations. I think that's an important statement for which to start this review, because you need to be able to trust your tailor and know that they aren't going to ruin your clothes. I've had the nice ladies at Westhills Alterations hem pants before, but I'm sure most tailors can at least fake their way through that basic task. But the day I picked up my expensive pair of jeans that I had them completely overhaul and they were a perfect fit was the day that my trust began in earnest. My lady has also used them to alter cocktail and casual dresses, and has been very happy with the results. Considering I am totally inept at sewing myself, their prices fit their work. read more

I have been using West Hills Alterations in SW Calgary for casual clothing and outdoor clothing modifications for the last 2.5 years. They have always done an outstanding job in terms of quality, and their range capabilities is beyond that of other tailors. I have even taken backpacks and camping gear to get modified. The shop is always busy, so sometimes you have to wait in line but other than that small frustration the work done is amazing! Pricing is fair. read more

I have been going here for years because of the quality of tailoring and excellent customer service. I have brought a number of higher end items here including Burberry coats, Coach and Tory Burch dresses that they tailored to match the double stitch type sewing on. They once tailored a jacket and made it into a custom dress for me that fit me perfectly. To be honest, if I could give this place no stars I would. I recently went to Westhills Alterations only to receive the worst customer service I have received in a long time. I'm not the type of customer that complains, but I am still upset about how poor the service was at Westhills Alterations. Here's what happened... I don't sew at all and I ripped my duvet (a very small rip) along the seam in my sleep. As you can imagine since I use this to sleep and it gets cold at night, I was elated when the seamstress informed me that I could pick up my item at 4pm. I arrived at 4pm only to find my product had not been started and so she started to work on it - and it would be "10 minutes". This wasn't a big deal, but I was annoyed that I paid $21 for something that takes less than 5 minutes and requires minimal skill level. Anyways, the lady finally let me know my item was ready, but she was on the phone and disinterested in me so I just left the store. I went straight to the dry cleaners, as it's my duvet, and it's gross having it be dirty and having it be worked on in an area where it was probably dragged on the floor etc. But the main issue was when I picked it up from the dry cleaners I found that they hadn't even bothered to sew it properly. They only sewed one side (so feathers were leaking out of the other side ASDFFSDF$#!!), the string was hanging off (you seriously couldn't even snip it?) and it was poorly done. As you can imagine, I was quite pissed to have spent $21 on something that couldn't even be checked to ensure it was finished before it was handed to me. The lady was of course "busy", and when I complained her boss said that she had said she was hurrying since I had been waiting. Still not acceptable, and quite frankly, a simple phone call to let me know my item originally wasn't available for pick up would have sufficed. Even worse, the offered me a $6 credit... are you kidding? Did you honestly think I'd be coming back? I negotiated with the lady and she gave me cash... but to be honest... I should have asked for a full refund and I should have been more assertive. Regardless, this place is not worth your time trust me, I would never write a bad review if I didn't receive atrocious service. There is a lovely place called Signature Alterations in Signal Hill that is way better and she doesn't rip you off/charge ridiculous prices. Save yourself the money, time, and stress, go there instead of Westhills Alterations. read more

Do not get your alterations done here. I dropped a pair of pants off to get fixed and when I went to pick them up they had said I already picked them up the day before. I explained that is not possible (since I work all day) and showed them my claim stub. They explained that it's common to give out clothes to customers who don't have a stub. They refused to refund my payment or offer to make amends to losing my pants. I asked simply is it more likely that you gave my pants to the wrong person who didn't have a stub or that I forgot that I picked them up the day before? Still refused to admit their fault. The worst thing about all of it is that they didn't admit they made a mistake. I could have gotten over it if they apologized and refunded my money. But the fact they had to lie and/or make up stories is what made me extemeky upset. read more

After a horrible experience at another alterations establishment, we happened up Westhills Alterations. They 'repaired' and altered my daughter's wedding gown in 4 days, and for half the price of the first establishment that ruined my daughters gown and left it too big, with an uneven sweetheart neckline and straight pins to bustle the gown. West hills disassembled, altered, and reassembled my daughter's gown and it was perfect!!!! Can not thank them enough. read more
