This trips supply of MF tea. Hopefully it lasts until next year's visit.

One of the highlights shopping in Paris is stocking up on great tea at one of the Mariage Freres boutiques. I have been to their other locations quite a few times and service is always top notch and prices are very fair for the taste/quality. With their vast selection it is always hard to decide however my favorites are the Parisian and French breakfast teas with honey and a slice of lemon. I am also a fan of their Casablanca and about to try their new Rouge Casablanca. If you have a passion for tea then you should visit one of the Mariage Freres locations.

If you love tea and are in Paris, you have to visit Mariage Frères! Some locations only sell tea. If you want to sit down for a meal, make sure you pick one with a salon du the and check for the salon's hours. My husband and I each got a pot of tea, but the pots are big, so if you just want a cup or two, you could share with someone. I had the Paris Breakfast Tea (black tea, with a touch of citrus) and my husband had the French breakfast tea (black tea). Both teas were somehow the perfect temperature and strength throughout drinking them. Sometimes with a regular pot of tea, it's weak when it's first served and gets bitter or cold at the end, but the way they make it here, every cup is balanced. I went to Mariage Frères the first time many years ago, when I was younger and on a tighter budget. This visit was my first opportunity to enjoy their food as well as their tea. I was so happy that I did! The tea is not just for drinking here. They use tea in the food and it's not overpowering, but instead really enhances the flavors of the food. I had the Club Louvre sandwich and my husband got the Nostalgie de Pondichery (Bento de cinq 'amuse-bouches) which was essentially a sampling of the other sandwich options. Every one was delicious! It's definitely pricey for the amount of food you get, but it's really tasty and high quality food.

You really haven't had Earl Grey until you've had some of this Imperial Earl Grey loose tea.

Just finished a long bike ride to the Eiffel Tower and worked up an appetite. Decided to go straight to the main course. They are known for Au Gratins. My son is not a cheese fan so he opted for the norvigene (smoked salmon in dill lemon and EVOO. I decided to stick with the house specialty; Landais Au Gratin (cream potatoes, duck breast and emmental cheese). The 2 German girls beside me ordered a cider with both their meals so I followed their lead. When in Paris...... Considering the temperature, I almost second-guess myself and ordered something other than their house specialty of au gratin potatoes. In the end, I was very glad I overruled that thought. Brody enjoyed his meal. He just appeared to still be hungry when it was done and a 16 year-old boy that normally has a high caloric intake, I can understand why he wanted a second meal after eating his first! The restaurant in the patio were quite crowded even though we had reservations. They still sat us within five minutes of arrival. Not that five minutes is a long time to wait, but it was still worth the wait as good as the food tasted. We both enjoyed our meals.
