Get the mushroom empanada!!! The others are delish, too, so you won't be disappointed.

This establishment is a very nice empanadas place. Very chic and kind of feels like bougie street food. I thought their chicken chimichurri empanadas are too dry. The braised beef one was good though and I'd love to eat here again. Honestly, the taste is so good! If I were rich, I'd eat here more often. Unfortunately, an empanada is like...$4 a piece. Please, Denver. Help me understand why it's so pricey to eat out here. Porto's in California? Their empanadas are basically under two dollars. Are my standards too high? Maybe. But I guess I'll just have to take what I can get. I think half a dozen was $21? $22? Sorry I was so harsh, but sometimes it's so hard to be a Californian food snob in Denver. And I'm definitely half kidding about that last comment! But yeah. $4 is too much for a tiny appetizer-like food. I love the taste, but hate the price. Unfortunately, I feel like Maria empanadas is one of the better ones in Colorado so I'll still make my way here from time to time. Not a frequent go-to spot unfortunately... read more

We went to pick up our empanada. The server was great! He helped us to pick out ones that met our dietary needs and even gave us a little history about empanadas. Not to mention how yummy they were when we got home to eat them! read more

OMG the holy grail of empanada's. These are sooooo good I had the hardest time trying to figure out what to order. I got alittle carried away and order quite a few. We got mushroom, corn, tango, argentina, and caprese. Then while I was checking out I saw they had sauces to dip them in. So add on a few of those it was to die for. I honestly can't even remember which was my favorite because they were all so tasty. The mushroom one was probably the messy one if I remember correctly - it was alittle watery after eating it so it on the messy scale got less stars but the food itself was divine. Go back and order one of each for me! read more

Maria Empanada - I'm stupid excited to be having these right now... - Argentine Near Me - Aurora, Colorado

Yum. Carbs. Meat. Encased in more carbs. I thoroughly enjoy eating here when I'm at the Stanley Market. It seems a tad bit expensive, but, what can you expect? I've been in the habit of asking the waiters or employees of places what they suggest. I bought a half dozen and they were delicious! The caprese, my friends, was marvelous--however, quite juicy. Very juicy... In fact, I might enjoy the vegetarian empanadas even more than the meat ones. And I'm definitely a fan of meat over vegetarian. Do it, you'll appreciate me. Maria Empanada - Argentine Near Me - Aurora, Colorado

Such boring bland empreñadas, I've tried and tried I think I've been here at least 5 times. It is just straight up bland. I guess I compare it too much to Rincon Argentina which apparently cannot be topped. read more

Had to make a stop into Maria Empanada while we were killing time at Stanley Marketplace. I love a good empanada and I had heard good things. We sampled a few: Beef Classico, Argentina, Chicken Classico and Mushroom. Great flaky crust on each and the filling was all around flavorful and delicious. I have to say I didn't taste a HUGE difference between all of the meat ones - probably a lot of the same herbs, spices, and sprinkles in most of them, not a complaint tho - they were all still yummy. I really loved the Mushroom one though (with onions, garlic and a blend of three mild cheeses) I think because this one was the most different. A bit more creamy inside this one compared to the others. They had some spanish tortillas plus some really delicious looking desserts that I should probably find a reason to try next time I'm in the area. Overall, really good. Something a little different and the perfect quick, handheld snack. read more

We placed a large order for our holiday party and it was picked up by someone who never delivered it. Fabian the manager communicated with me immediately and worked hard to replace the order on a busy Saturday night before closing. He even borrowed a coworker's car to make sure it was delivered to us personally. The empanadas were a huge hit with everyone and Fabian's professionalism and care were so appreciated. read more

Not terrible. Kind of pricey per piece. I guess I'm used to eating in South Florida where street food is a bit cheaper and an empanada May go for maybe $1 a piece. The flavor is definitely here though and there are some vsrieties to choose from! read more

I dropped in for a quick breakfast: Chorizo empanada and small coffee. $6 of Delicious! Friendly service from the counter guy; young lady at register could use a Little coaching in service with a smile. She looked about as happy to be selling empanadas as a dog waiting to see the vet! read more

Very delicious empanada's. Not greasy and the dough is tasty. A bit pricey, though isn't everything right now...? A better buy to just get a half-dozen. Definitely worth a try if you like an elevated hot pocket of yummy goodness. read more

I've never had empanadas but I wanted to try them. The crusty was flaky and good but I really want fond of the cooking in the Sierra. My favorite one was the chicken chimichurri. The customer service was great. I wouldn't try them again but not because it wasn't good, I just didn't like them. read more

As close as I've gotten to Bolivian street empanadas in the U.S. Since my time living in South America 5 years ago i've been unable to find empanadas that live up to my expectations but when we stumbled upon both the marketplace and Maria Empanada I had to try it out. My friends and I ordered a huge variety of 7 different ones. We tried the argentine, the ground beef, ham and cheese, spinach, chicken chimichurri and more. My favorite by far was the Argentina, the braised beef was so tender and flavorful and the dough is well cooked but not too stiff. everyone else loved the ground beef and chicken chimichurri. Overall these were filling and flavorful and well worth the price tag. Do yourself a favor and try a few if you haven't yet. read more

Having this great shop at Stanley is such a treat-- the staff is helpful, the empanadas are always fresh, and it's location right across from Cheluna makes it a wonderful option for having a quick bite while enjoying local brews. I love the fact that this company started as a small business run by their Argentinian owner and has now expanded to have 3 locations. This is the tiniest shop, but still everything you need. There are a couple of café tables at the stall, but I usually get them to go. The empanadas are still great the next day-- I have over-ordered for a party and when I warmed them up in the oven for brunch the next day, the empanadas were arguably just as delicious. Mushroom and cheese, steak, chicken... you won't be disappointed. read more

So good! I have to get a 6 - pack or more on every visit to the Stanley Marketplace.

Why would you eat at a place that pre-cooks their food and warms it in a microwave for you? This place was gross. Terrible concept. Two stars because the coffee bar was good. read more

After seeing Guy Fieri make a visit on TripleD, we vowed to find this place if we ever found our way to Denver. Sure enough, an opportunity presented with a weekend getaway from Kansas to Breckenridge. We were delighted that the Aurora location was easily traversed from I-70, at the Stanley Marketplace. We easily found Maria's, were greeted cheerfully and served a collection, including our gracious server's favorites. And we whisked away up into the mountains to share the empanadas with friends. Extremely tasty, fresh and flavorful. And the sauces! One of our best DDD stops yet. read more

I Love these empanadas! The service is quick and they're super nice. I would walk around with an empanada but I also like sitting at a table if I'm with friends, a convenient meal in a nice area. read more

I was visiting Denver from Mississippi but I'm from south Louisiana. I am a self proclaimed foodie and I loved the three empanadas I had. I had the beef, ham and cheese and one with a spicy shredded chicken. After I had my first one, the beef Classico, I ordered 7 more to take with me. They are freshly cooked and perfectly seasoned. I would totally recommend. Grab the spicy chili Mayo or the asada sauce. Both are good with a little kick. read more

Good empanadas. I got the chicken chimichurri and the corn empanada. While I've had better, I'd still say these are better than the average empanada. I wish the chimichurri came through a little bit more in the chicken one and thought the corn one was a little bit boring. I also thought the pastry could use some loving, it wasn't very flavorful and was a little doughy, but if I was looking for an empanada I'd come here. read more

Maria Empanada - Chicken chimichurri on top, corn on the bottom - Argentine Near Me - Aurora, Colorado

I've only had empanadas twice during my entire lifetime and both times were wonderful experiences. My friend recommended this place and now I can recommend it to all Yelpers. The service is very welcoming even though I was obviously an empanada noobie. I got two different kinds (one had italian sausage and the other one was a vegetarian spinach) and tried multiple sauces and the flavors are so good it'll tempt you to buy all the empanadas just to experiment on more delectable goodness. Definitely will come back in the future to try more! read more

This place rocks. Not just this restaurant, but the Stanley Marketplace that it is located in. On a trip to Denver, we found the marketplace the day before while headed to another restaurant not realizing it was located with a bunch of other cool boutiques and food shops. We decided to come back for dinner the next day and I was pretty set on sushi. It's a food hall setup so you can get food from different places. We were looking for something that my daughter would like and saw the Empanadas -- nothing against the sushi stand next door but it's easier for me to find good sushi in my town than it is for a good selection of Empanadas. I ordered the Argentine and the Chicken Chimichurri -- the Chimichurri was my favorite. The empanadas are ready to go and still warm so it is also a quick meal. The beer place across the way allows you to bring food in BTW -- I'll definitely be back! read more

Wow, empanadas were not a thing for me but now probably are thanks to Maria's! Not by choice found myself at this location and was hungry and ordered MANY empanadas to go. Wow, just wow! They were all so delicious I'm pretty sure I won an eating contest I ate so many of them! I loved their tasty sauces, just wish they came in 4 oz instead of 1 oz and 8 oz. I'm a huge fan now and will revisit, just not at this location because it's located inside The Stanley Marketplace where there are more kids than adults so say the least. read more

Have only eaten their food when it was catered at work. This was our first time eating at one of their locations. Very friendly staff. A good variety of different ingredients. Very tasty. Tried the Mushroom, Spinach, Argentina and Chicken Chimichurri. Good amount of filling. Will def be back. read more

Had the Argentine empanada as it was recommended as one of the more popular options. I've never this particular type of empanada before so it's hard to compare to anything but it was just...okay. Flavors were pretty bland in my opinion but the empanada itself was warm and filling. May have to try their other fillings before I can make a better judgment, but was pretty underwhelmed. read more

Great selection of empanadas. They're always delicious. Service is always quick and friendly. Great for kids.

Browsing at the Stanley Market and as soon as we passed by and I smelted the delicious flavors I knew we would be back around. My partner and I ordered the special which I believe was called the Sierra and also Ham and cheese. As we paid I noticed the side sauces so I added a green onion sour cream sauce. Wow. Not only are these lovely little pockets gorgeous in detail they are DELICIOUS. Ham and cheese was fresh, flavorful and perfect. The Sierra?! The perfect amount of chipotle after flavor and kick. Added the green onion sour cream and it was seriously amazing. Id highly recommend this place. Can't wait till we move here in May so we can try the rest. YUM!! read more

Came across Maria's Empanadas while at Stanley's after having breakfast at DBC. I love empanadas so I was very glad to come here. Since we had just a big breakfast at DBC, I ordered empanadas to go. I ordered one spinach, one corn, one spicy chicken and also a slice of the Victoria cake. The empanadas were all still warm. I wish I was able to eat it there and then but I was too full from the breakfast we just had at DBC. The empanadas are so good and the Victoria cake was to die for. I will definitely come back here the next time I am in the Denver area. read more

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh the yumminess. I don't have a ton of background with empanadas but love these so very much. The Mushroom, Caprese, and Ham & Cheese are my fav go-to's, as are the desert ones. My friend highly recommends the Corn, but they are always sold out when I make it by, so must be really good too! This place is a great quick-serve stop while you're boozing at the Stanley Marketplace! We came here over the weekend with friends and "a few drinks" at lunch spread to "It's eight PM and we haven't eaten dinner". Not wanting to stop for too long because there were too many fun things to do within the marketplace, we decided to grab a quick bite at Maria Empanada. I was drawn to what I believe was the Argentina, but was whichever empanada had steak, bell peppers, and I think onions. Having never had an empanada I was amazed at how delicious it was! It was flavor-packed and did a good job at temporarily holding my husband and myself over, with both of us sharing just one. After partaking in a few at Infinite Monkey Theorem we felt the grumbling start again, so we brought the friends we were meeting back to Maria Empanada so we could all refuel. This time my husband and I got the beef empanada and something that was flat and used tuna as its main meat. We loved the beef empanada as well, though the steak one was still the favorite, but the tuna was not to our taste. That doesn't mean it wouldn't be to someone else's, though! All in all, an excellent and quick decision if you are wandering the marketplace and don't feel like sitting still for too long. It won't change your life, but you certainly won't regret the money spent. I would love to try it with one of their separately sold sauces next time! read more

The best empenadas in town. . You can't go wrong with the different options. Service is excellent.

Delicious and full of protein! They don't skimmy on their fillings here and they are baked! So you can enjoy without any guilt. I tried the beef Classico which was ground beef, peppers, eggs and olives. I also tried the chicken Classico which includes shredded chicken. Both were flavored perfectly! Next time I will try more flavors but I thought it would be good to stick with the regular choices to determine if Maria would make my empanada list. They also have torts/quiche selections which were about $6 and worth it as they are huge Portions. For both my empanadas they were about $7, so a bit on the pricey side, however really worth it! We have had empanadas all over South America and I would definitely place Maria's on my favorite list. I wish they had a sampler platter that includes mini empanadas, maybe soon. I would highly recommend this spot for a casual bite or pick up to take home. read more

I'm an empanada fan and these definitely did not disappoint. This was my first time to visit. They had so much flavor. This is a definite recommendation. read more

These empanadas are delicious. I have been a fan of Lorena's emporium ever since her first place in Lakewood. We took ours to go and went off to drink some wine at Infinite Monkey. Three different ones and each was savory, hot, moist. With a great crispy crust. read more

3.5 stars Stanley Market Location Maria Empanada is a nice little place serving mainly empanadas to the Stanley Market. The staff is very friendly and willing to answer any questions. There are both meat and vegetarian options which is great. The empanadas a small enough to easily carry around if you are pursuing the rest of the market or to sit down and have a family feast! There are not designated areas to sit but the Stanly Market provides multiple seating areas as well as seating in the bar areas. The empanadas were not impressive. By no means were they bad, just not what I expected when I hear authentic Argentinian. I have been fortunate enough to visit multiple cities in Argentina and these empanadas lack luster and bold flavors. There was far to much dough that overpowered what little flavoring there was to begin with. I believe that they are overpriced (3.55+) for the taste, and size. Im sure I will be back for empanadas at Stanley Market. read more
