The Mardi Gras is one of the many Wetherspoons locations in the UK, this is located in The Orient, opposite a very similar rival in All Bar One and Bill's, where I eventually (sadly) ended up eating.
For me this branch was really disappointing and that is a shame, mainly down to the overall feel of the branch. The seating area isn't too nice and it isn't the nicest and most welcoming areas to families, but in other ways there are some nice aspects to the decor but it is pretty much a typical Wetherspoons or pub in that respect.
The service here was quite poor, I was originally looked at strangely by a member of staff as I sat waited to be seated she said 'Just sit down', leaving me to feel quite shocked and posh.
Inside, I noticed the menus were stained, it seemed a little confusing too. The gluten free selection in terms of food had improved with a menu format but still wasn't fantastic which is a shame.
The staff didn't seem too friendly either, not welcoming which along with the uncleanliness and overall feel made me feel the staff don't really care, hence I walked out to dine at Bill's across the way so sadly I feel Mardi Gras deserves a single one star. read more
