Roast lamb. Part of the 2 course soup and roast for £10 deal
    Andrew Y.

Came here with parents and brother the other week after we had been to the BBC Media City tour. Before the visit, I had asked other people for recommendations and had a look at the Media City web site for different options for places to eat. A few people mentioned Dockyard and I liked the look of the menu. We visited on a Sunday and they had some lunch specials. 2 courses for £10 - soup and roast. Also had daily specials from £5. My Mum and brother went for the roast and said it was good. I went for the chicken burger (with sweet potato fries) - they call it the Dr Hunter. This was a double and cost £8.95. For dessert we shared some waffles. The waffles were really nice. You could tell they were freshly made. The waffles had syrup on and ice cream. Nice, simple and delicious.

Blue roll on the bar; can any pub get by without, these days?

Great little bar that blends the barkeep's ordinary with some spectacular craft beers. A great range of cask ale ranging from doom bar and a tailored own name beer to breweries from around the uk is complemented by an extensive range of bottles and cans showcasing craft beers from around the uk, Europe and beyond. The industrial chic look they've managed to obtain far surpasses many other craft beer joints after the same feel, eat your heart out brew dog, barely even an "also ran" in comparison. And the welcoming and friendly staff know a thing or two about just about every drink on offer, so if you're stuck for choice, just ask: they know their stuff! The food looked great, although I didn't stay to try it, having already eaten; but the portion sizes looked generous and the food delectable for the reasonable price tags. If you're hanging around Media City or Old Trafford and need a place to get a good beer and soak up some great atmosphere, you couldn't go wrong with a trip to The Dock Side.

Dockers, as we lovingly call them in our office, has been the lunch venue of choice for a good while now - they've really bedded in and become the bustling heart of MediaCityUK. We've seen a couple of menu changes in recent months; firstly some popular options disappeared from the menu (to our collective horror) only for them to reappear and then disappear again in the latest re-launch. Quit toying with our emotions guys! Speaking of the new menu, which now includes a range of hot dogs, new sandwiches and small plates, it was good to see that they're keen to evolve their offering (though they shouldn't have changed the burger options - they were winners IMO). The 12" Hickman hotdog that I ordered with fries was really rather good. Service, we've often found, can be a tad hit and miss - you may be waiting over 30 min for your food to arrive at peak times. If you don't get in there for noon on a Friday you'll likely struggle to get a table in the first place and it becomes dog eat dog! The beer and cider selection remains decent and regularly rotated so there are options for most tastes - just don't have a pint before you go back to work or the afternoon seriously drags!

I just love this bar! Been quite a few times now and the place has a fantastic vibe. Well stocked bar and an awesome selection of real ales and craft beers. The food is also really good and very reasonably priced too. Definitely the best place for a drink on or around the quays/media city.

Great looking restaurant, lots of seating, tons of beer on tap. Had the brunch. Was tempted to get a beer for breakfast but resisted. Had the english breakfast. Came with two golden hash browns, bacon, sausage, eggs, beans, and toast. Was a ton of food, doubt I could handle the next level up, the big english breakfast. Also had a coffee, it was so good, not bitter and felt like it had alot of caffeine. Loved the sugar cubes. Overall, really enjoyed the experience here and service was good as well.

We went here for a drink before we went to the cinema at the Lowry. Comfy chairs and a laid back atmosphere. My little boy was impressed with the table football. We liked it so much that we went back after the cinema for food. Food was presented ok and service was quick we all had burgers the only bad thing I can say bout this was that all our food came out at different times so we were all eating at different times. Will Defo be going back as I love how chilled out it is

I was planning on getting my colleagues in for a team lunch but in these busy times but turned up too late (12:30) to get a table so we just had a pint and went next door. First impressions are good. Ok selection of beers from Bright side Brewing and a good bottle selection. The place is really big and it's more of a stand-drinking situation. But the menu looks good and they do breakfast too. 3 stars for now as I had 1 pint and was out. Will review more when I experience the full shabang.

Came here for a few drinks after a Yelp event, only had one cider- Koppaberg elderflower which was IMMENSE I haven't had it before and was quite exciting! This is essentially a really cool bar where I imagine lots of BBC people go after work so it was quite exciting watching who came through the door and hoping to see some famous people! Sadly we didn't :( BUT had a lovely time and will definitely come back in the summer when you can sit outside in their lovely garden bit and watch the sun go down! Not cheap drinks but brilliant view and helpful staff :)

    Amber ale - superb!
    Matt F.

I'd been hearing rave reviews about this place, so I had to give it a go. I popped down after doing some shopping in Lowry, and all that walking around had worked up quite an appetite, so I was drooling at the prospect of some great pub grub. I opted for the Traditional Mac Burger with Fries and went for the Dockyard Amber Ale on the side. Whilst, the burger was good, I won't say great because I have definitely had better (and Manchester is somewhat Burger heaven at the moment), but it was tasty and it filled the spot nonetheless. The Amber Ale was fantastic and went down perfectly as the scarcely visible Manchester sun crept through the clouds. The layout is cool and has a real hipster vibe to it. I sat outside on one of many outdoor tables (perfect for a groups) and enjoyed spotting the celebrities that were in between scenes of Corrie! Thoroughly enjoyable lunch in the sun, will definitely be back on my next venture to the Quays/Media City.

After visiting The Lowry for the 'Behind the Mask' exhibition, we were obviously looking for somewhere to eat. Culture makes me hungry, y'know? With front runners Penelope's and Love Conquers All both closed until at least 5th January, I suggested trying The Dockyard. It's a large pub, with lots of wood and leather chairs. We plonked ourselves on one of the high tables near the window, instantly questioning the usability of them as they each have a large post, handily blocking the sun on this occasion, but also blocking anyone who happened to sit behind them. The menu is small but I would say well put together - quite classic, comfort food, including pies and a selection of sandwiches, most served with fries - and affordable. It was a toss up between the chicken wings or chicken burger, and I eventually went for the latter. When the food came, it came in the hands of a waitress who said nothing. Not a peep. She simply stood by the table until we said something, then she mumbled thanks and walked away. No offer of cutlery or napkins, which the table next to us also experienced, but they managed to catch her eye to ask for some, but no luck for us. The food was okay, though there was none of the promised spice in the chicken that was described on the menu, and the cheese wasn't melted whatsoever. The nachos made me feel a bit sad inside; the guac was okay, with a real citrus tang, but the sour cream tasted a bit sweet, and the salsa simply made the chips go soggy. The bacon was the main redeeming feature, so crispy you could snap it. The fries were good and lots of crispy bits to pick out, so I made sure to leave some of these for last. I didn't expect magic for the £6 mark for a main meal, but friendlier service and some melted cheese would seriously go a long way.

A really nice bar in Media City UK just what it needed! and Salford Quays which is a stones throw away from the Lowry Theatre and the shopping centre It has a very modern industrial feel to it and looks great! It has a fun atmosphere to it and has some great drinks to choose from, plus the drinks are not that pricey, only £3.20 a pint! Theres loads of places to sit and chill out and actually feels like you're in a kinda dockyard haha The menu looked ok but it seemed like they only sold burgers which is ok with me. Its a pretty cool new and upcoming bar in a new up and coming area of Media City UK which is only a 20 minute tram journey away from Manchester City Centre which is well worth a saturday or sunday afternoon out.

This was my first trip here and I am going to follow the curve and give this place the 4 star treatment. This place gets thumbs up from me as it is the only real pub in the Quays, which host a full bar with good staff behide it. The food is good pub grub and the menu is pretty standard for that. I went for the burger, which I have had better but the chips where really nice. I head onto the Quays often and I will be popping back into here.

Every game from several hours before the game to five minutes before kick off these pubs are full of fans chanting and celebrating in advance in passionate style, with hilarious songs, chants and banter. Sam Platts has got the best garden area of the pubs around here, so perhaps in the summer months this would be the pick of the United pubs.
