The Waterhouse is quite a tidy weatherspoons. Located in the city centre, if not a couple of minutes walk from. It is situated next to all local amenities, shops, library's, meuseums and more. Inside there is plenty of seating with lots of different sized rooms to choose from giving you a different vibe in each of them. The prices are of a normal weatherspoons in the city and the drinks matching a cheaper night out. Food is usually ordered and with you within 5-10 mins which I'm not a huge fan of but its a pretty standard quality of spoons. Not a bad place for a cheap night out.

Ok I know everyone slates Wetherspoons but it does what it says on the tin and isn't claiming to be anything it's not. Beki A, James G and I stumbled in here as it's the closest/cheapest boozer to the infamously bank-breaking Manchester Christmas Markets and we all needed the loo! After several hours jugging on overpriced mulled wine, we were overjoyed to discover that these guys were serving large pints of mulled cider for £3 and mulled wine (though they had run out by the time we got there) for a mere £2.50. Not only this, but it was a Thursday and we had unwittingly turned up on 'curry night' - an alcoholic beverage of your choice plus a curry (great range including popadums and naan, as part of the deal) for a pitiful £7. Needless to say, the place was packed with revellers stuffing their faces with korma, tikka massala and the like. It was a great atmosphere and the three of us got pretty drunk! Great night, great deals and great food at great prices. Yeah, it's not Rusholme but when you just need to line the stomach...

Bar and food offering is very standard Wetherspoons, with reasonably priced drinks and an extensive menu of 'freezer to microwave' food. What I like about this particular bar is the actual building is what I believe used to be a solicitors office. Rather than one huge noisy, rowdy room that you get in some 'spoons, here there are lots of different little rooms where its not too difficult to find somewhere to sit down and have a chat with friends and still be able to hear your own voice. Dropped in on a Thursday to partake in their regular 'curry night' where you get a choice of curry with rice, naan bread, poppadums and a choice of drink from a wide selection including wine, cider and some craft beers. I'm partial to a hot curry so I ordered the hottest one on the menu. The Flaming Dragon welsh chicken curry was quite nice, fairly hot, and came with a whole jalapeño on top. I washed it down with a pint of Tuborg, excellent value for £7.99. For an additional £1 you can add an onion bhaji and a samosa though I decided not to bother on this occasion. The onion bhajis can have the appearance and texture of a meteorite!

I'm sure I've mentioned The Waterhouse in several of my other Wetherspoon reviews. To summarise: - It's cosier then the Paramount - It's not as studenty as Ford Madox Brown - It's not full of old men like the Sedge Lynn - It's not full of drunk people at 5pm like The Calverts Court - The food isn't crap like at The Great Central In fact I may even go as far as to say it's my favourite Wetherspoons of all time. The building is beautiful on the outside and on the inside the toilets are amazing! The building was originally a civic palace designed by Albert Waterhouse and built in 1877. You can take your pick from a number of cosy little rooms or you can stand at the bar in the centre. It can get very busy at 6-7pm especially on Saturdays, when exhausted shoppers come for a burger. It goes without saying that they do cheap drinks, beer and burger deals, have Sky News on the flatscreen TVs and have free wi-fi too. Disclaimer: Although I'm giving this pub a 5 star rating please bear in mind that if you're a Spoons hater (they seem to be plentiful on here) then you'd still be better off going elsewhere.

It's not just a Whetherspoons but probably the archetypal discount pub. Location, price and size makes this exactly what the chain is designed for - a fast paced, crowd pleasing affordable watering hole. Always packed, with tables at a premium, it delivers a competent pub brand. Good priced range of drinks, efficient service and tasty affordable grub. Now't special but satisfaction pretty well guaranteed.

I have been hear on many occasions for drinks and food. This is probably the best wetherspoons in Manchester for eating there are lots of little rooms it's like a maze they have a few real fires which is lovely in winter. The food is lovely I have had the full breakfast with orange juice which is good I have also had the chicken tikka masala which was really good. I like the themed nights they do like steak night and curry night they have a few themes these are my favourite though. It's a lovely chilled atmosphere for the day and having something to eat. I prob wouldn't recommend it for a drink at night unless you wanted something quite as they don't play music so there isn't much of an atmosphere especially if you like a dance. The staff are very friendly and it's clean.

The menu was pretty standard, so I quickly have chosen what to have and went to take a seat. The breakfast was of the right temperature, no twists, does the job. If want a quick fix ( depending on how many people are already there) while waiting for your train or stuff at Mosi, than that's the place; otherwise might want to check out things nearby. The wait was a bit too long - but again, this is a pub, not a breakfast place, so not sure it's fair to expect fast service at this time of day.

Although it's traditional and there's nothing that makes you go wow like some nearby trendy bars, it's definitely this which appeals to me - in fact I found a lovely little table towards the back with a roaring fire which warmed me up on a day when the weather was starting to look rather autumnal. I was served by 3 different staff and all were friendly, polite and welcoming. For some bizarre reason I decided to go for their 2 for £12.95 lunch deal (why I needed 2 courses at lunch I'm not sure but it seemed good value - plus I'd been in meetings all day so needed a fair amount of comfort food) and I went for the ham hock terrine to start with (lovely piccalilli) followed by the steak and ale pie with chips and vege's (devine). The quality and taste was excellent and with a very full belly I felt my work here was done! Speaking of work, it was also a good little spot to work for an hour on my laptop afterwards - with free wifi. That's the right way to blend tradition and modern so as the customer has the best of both worlds :-)

Located in a part of the city that is clearly on the up (just off St Peters Square) it's a traditional boozer of the very old school variety - deceptively sized with a tiny front bar but loads of seating in the back! The drinks on offer are all a little bit stuck in the past for my beer tastes but this isn't a problem for most patrons - they just do lots of bitters, lagers and stouts. I have to say that their beer flights are great value at just over £3.00 where you can get a third of each beer of your choice up to a pint - really good idea and great to see it appearing in more and more pubs! City Arms is somewhere that's cool to pop into if you're after a quick pint or meeting with friends, I just can't see myself wanting to spend all night here - I think I'd get very bored, very quickly of the beers on offer - but this is my own overly pretentious beery opinion!
