Very classy. Great location in downtown Dublin. Gorgeous ambiance. Service was wonderful, however, I would have loved our server to have been more pleasant, more friendlier. He didn't talk much, to be honest, he had a major RBF. We had a group of 10 with a 9 month old and we were lucky enough to get a reservation last minute with the help of our concierge at our hotel Buswell. The food was delicious but service was quite slow, the table next to me was seated after me and had their drinks before the server came to greet and take my drink order, the meal didn't come out until about an hour later. Walked in around 5:30 on a Saturday night. We did not have a reservation; however, the maître d' was kind enough to find a table to seat 4. He advised we could only have the table for an hour and 40 minutes, which was perfect for us. The server came to take our food and drink orders. I opted for the Lamb a La Dijonnaise. My fiancé ordered the Ribeye and our two friends ordered the 10 oz Sirloins. Everything was delicious. The lamb and steaks were cooked a nice medium rare. The mashed potatoes were creamy and seasoned nicely. The service was good and the place got busier as the night went on. I recommend making a reservation if you can. We found Marco Pierre White on Yelp. Reset were recommended so we reserved a table for two at 6 PM. We were fortunate to be seated in their covered patio looking out at the street. This is in an affluent area around the corner from Trinity College so people watching was fun. Service was outstanding, as was the food. Their menu, like many in Dublin, offers a la carte options and prix fixe choices. We both chose the two course dinner (there is a three course option). We both had steak frites, I had the shrimp cocktail and Kerrie had the barley soup. At the end of the meal we lost track of our waiter. We were in no hurry so enjoyed our drinks as we watched people walk by. When the waiter returned he apologized and let us know he was working with a VIP group. He said Jessica Lang and Ed Harris (American actors) were at the VIP table. We did walk by them and stole a glance. In deference to them, we didn't bother them. Pleasantly surprised as often disappointed in restaurants behind a big name chef who rarely appears. This was actually an excellent experience. Service was perfect, attentive but not annoying, friendly but not fake. Started with butternut squash soup, it was excellent. Multiple levels of flavor ant texture, more than I hoped for. The Delmonico was cooked perfectly, which I would expect at a high end steakhouse. What made the mean excellent were the side. Pickled onion rings, which initially seemed a little bland grew on me to the point they are my salient memory from the meal. We dined here for a work dinner, and it was a great meal. This is a steakhouse, so the menu is very meat-forward, but there was also seafood, chicken, and lamb dishes available. I had the one vegetarian meal on the menu, which was mushrooms on sourdough, topped with a poached egg and truffled hollandaise. It was absolutely delightful, and the chef catered to my somewhat unusual request of a slightly overdone poach on my egg. My starter was a chicken liver "parfait" with madeira jelly on top. This was also delicious, and a rather large portion for a starter. They offer an a la carte menu as well as a daily menu where you can choose two or three courses for a prix fixe meal. The service was *impeccable* and the interior was elegant. Even their bathrooms were lovely! I do recommend this place if you are looking to have a steak dinner or a nicer-than-average meal. Great service which made my dining experience a lot better. I originally ordered the 10oz ribeye but turned out to be not quite nice, so I switched to the center fillet steak my coworkers ordered. Very happy with the service and the foods. They even gave us extra creamy spinach and frites as a way to make up for the poor ribeye which was not expected. Having already eaten several meals of Irish cuisine and knowing we were going on a cruise ship in a day or two, our hotel concierge told us about this steakhouse. The prices seemed a little high, so we went for lunch instead of dinner. We ended up ordering two appetizers, two steak frites (because it's a steakhouse after all!), two desserts and two pints of Guinness. The Bernese sauce was light and one of the best we had been served anywhere. The staff seems to work as a team and all of them were working very hard. This is the way dining is supposed to be as it made for a memorable meal. Even with leaving a generous tip, the Total bill was one hundred Euros and well worth every Euro. I booked a voucher to go here and when I tried to change my reservation they were really unhelpful. I mean I was told if I wanted to complain or speak to a manager I'd need to email as that's process, and that they wouldn't get back to me in time anyway and so I'd need to pay a cancellation fee (I was calling with more that 24hours notice as per policy) but if I wanted to complains it would take longer than that for a response. Just really unhelpful, became rude, and regurgitating policy and t&cs which didn't help at all. Just bad service to be honest. Shame. read more

My daughter happened upon this steakhouse while we were trying to find a pub for dinner. It was raining out and this restaurant looked very inviting and warm. Oh my dear God this meal was perfection. I had been to the Marco Pierre White restaurant before for lunch but on this occasion we decided to go all out and get the a la carte. As you might be able to guess from the first sentence of this review it was a good decision! I began with the exquisite crab with herbs that melted in the mouth and left me dying for more. This was followed by a Beurre a la bordelaise, red wine and shallots rib eye steak. So tender and succulent and incredibly filling. We got a side of mushrooms and onion rings for the table and I could barely start eating my triple cooked chips as I was already stuffed senseless! Everyone in my party agreed this was probably the best steak we've ever had. The atmosphere and service was nothing short of fantastic. You feel like royalty entering the place and the bathroom with the little towels instead of a dryer is a great touch. Along with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc between 2 it only cost a mere 65 euro each for the two courses, sides and wine! It's a special treat so we went to Marco's; I've been looking forward to going for ages. The restaurant itself is lovely and was electric when we walked in. When there's a celebrity name attached to a restaurant I think diners are right to expect great things. Unfortunately, this meant that I was disappointed. The menu is small but I was expecting that. I wasn't expecting the heavy price tag to accompany most dishes which turned out to be pretty average. I had a very nice plate of smoked salmon to start (€11.95). It was lovely. A friend recommended the spatchcock chicken (€18.95) with chipolatas which I thought was really disappointing. It was sticky and bland. Although this could have been my own fault for not ordering a steak in a steakhouse. My dad had the steak and ate every pick of it along with the huge chunky chips. The service wasn't great and they forgot about our sides (€3.95 each and an extra on top of your main) which came about 15 minutes later. So, I gave them another chance and ordered the Eton Mess (€8.95) which was very nice, but then it's an easy dessert to do. All around, it was a nice meal. Just nice. MPW on Dawson St has a lovely decor and is in a prime spot with close proximity to pubs and late bars which is a plus. I ordered the Argentinian Malbec red wine and it was yummy. We were offered a bread basket, the bread was plain and the butter wasn't soft. I ordered the café de Paris butter steak with chips and it was cooked to perfection. For dessert, I ordered a brownie with banana icecream and it was really tasty. All in all I expected more from the restaurant, I felt like we were rushed. Our waiter forgot to offer us water. I loved this place. Each dish was cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. I had the fois gras which was just amazing. For main it was rib eye (medium -rare) with bernaise sauce. My mouth is watering now as I think back on how delicious this was. My fiancee had steak tartar, which isn't my fave but tasty nonetheless and the tuna steak for mains. Wow, I can't even begin to describe how underwhelming this restaurant was and how terrible the service was. I'm not normally one to complain about a restaurant experience publicly, but I feel like I had to with this one. If anyone is taking the time to read this .. GO TO FEATHERBLADE NEXT DOOR INSTEAD. Half the price, much better service and much better steak, believe it or not. Cannot stress this enough. Featherblade is awesome and this place is a franchised/branded ghost of it's namesake's self former self. Not sure why I decided to try Marco Pierre White tonight, but I wholeheartedly regret it. I feel like Marco Pierre White would have fired the whole staff if it was 1987 and he knew how things were being handled in the Front of House. First off, there was no hostess to be found when we walked in, and had to wave down a server to let them know about our reservation. Once we were finally seated, the first server took our jackets and drink orders and all was fine up until that point. We were given some tap water and our first cocktails and placed our orders. We had French Onion Soup and the Scallop dish - the soup was a small cup and definitely not my favorite French Onion soup but wasn't terrible. The scallop dish had 3 small scallops and my girlfriend enjoyed it, but for $14 I expected a bit more there. After finishing our first course, we waited about 10 minutes for the server to approach us again, at which point we had no water left. I was so surprised that no server was readily available to refill our tap water or ask us how the apps were ... mind boggling to me. Once we finally made eye contact and tracked down a random server (not even our original one) to refill our water and take away our apps, our mains were eventually served. We had the Rib Eye for my girlfriend and the Sirloin for myself. They say these are 28 days dry aged steaks, and I've had some pretty good dry aged steaks in my day, but these were nowhere close to their flavor/tenderness - they almost tasted exactly like thawed Omaha steaks. I think they might have missed MPW's memo about using Knorr Stock Pod's for the steak rub in this case. After finishing the mains, we ordered the Creme Brûlée for dessert, which was almost black and charred burnt on the top - the rest was pretty decent but the burnt taste of the coating was a little too much to handle, so we just tried to eat around it. We then again had to make eye contact with a random server to pay the bill - and at this point we had seen 3 different servers + the Front of House Manager (who was essentially just a better-dressed server and seemed like he had better things to be doing that night) and paid the incredibly overpriced bill. When we were leaving, we noticed some servers and the FOH manager scrambling to find our coats and they brought out literally four coats, two of which were actually ours, thankfully (yeah, I was pretty confused there). On the way out I made a point to politely let the FOH manager know about the shoddy service, and he was immediately about to start making some excuses, but I noticed he stopped himself and apologized.. but he didn't care at all. Overall was really disheartening to see this place have such terrible service and mediocre food - will definitely not be eating here again, and would encourage everyone reading this again to try Featherblade instead. I'm leaving 2 stars b/c the sides of mushrooms and spinach (btw, both of which were not listed on the menu and we had to ask if they had) were pretty good - sad that the redeeming quality of a pricey restaurant like this were the sides. read more

Went with friends in Saturday night (29/04) for dinner. Decor and tables are nice, well laid out and menu was well presented. Waiter was pleasant and we ordered. Unfortunately from here things started to slide. Three starters arrived and one a substantial time later. All starters were on the cool side and one was returned to be heated up. This was taken away by another member of staff. When the late stater was brought out the waiter never noticed or commented on the missing starter. Starters done and onto the main course. Three steaks and a beef wellington. Again one was delivered much later than the other three and again the temperatures were all on the cool side. Not cold but not as hot as would be expected. Throughout the meal the table was never asked how things were nor was the wine ever poured, all water and wine was poured by ourselves. The bottle of wine (quite a nice one) was finished about halfway through the main course and never noticed. As we were finishing the mains I noticed the hostess sat down at an empty table behind us to have her dinner. I've never seen staff eat in the dinning room with customers and when I worked in restaurants in NY and San Diego we didn't even have a glass of water on the floor. When she had finished she left her glass on the table and did not reset it. So in summary we were extremely disappointed. There was no sense of occasion about the meal. There was zero interest from the staff as evident by lack of table interaction, tardy service, cool food and staff eating in the dinning room. Went to MPW with my wife for our anniversary. Wasn't sure what to expect with portions...my experience seems to be that the more you pay for dinner, the less food you get. Maybe I'm just too uncouth to appreciate fine dining... In any case, we ordered our starters but nothing really jumped out at me so I had the kipper pate. It was nice but it's still just pate. That's not a criticism of the restaurant - it's just that pate doesn't light my fire. My wife's salad of beetroat and goat's cheese was really nice. Nothing could have prepared us, though, for the religious experience that was the ribeye with the sauce Béarnaise. Turns out we have more than 5 senses and all of them exploded in delight with each bite of the steak. Melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Even the chunky chips accompanying it were perfectly done. Oh I've been spoilt by the beau and brought here for dinner on a special evening! Lovely smart casual setting - you won't feel out of place in a polo tee and clean jeans. We were offered a corner table which gave us an excellent view of the entire restaurant. We both ordered entrees - steak tartare and potted duck, both of which were delish. They are a good size too, so make sure you are hungry beforehand to tackle two courses! The steaks were cooked to perfection and we had 4 glasses of red wine - all 4 varieties we tried were excellent. One star down - the service is a bit hit and miss. Our waiter, an older guy, seemed a bit disgruntled having to serve us young chaps and disappeared for most of our meal - other waiters had to swoop in to rescue us. Our finished starter plates were left on our table for 15 minutes. When a waiter finally came to clear them, he was whistling and singing to a Madonna tune... like whaaa? I just expected better service when we are paying over €50 per head! Overall a very good meal, just bad luck with our assigned waiter... Side note: We saw a woman order steak tartare and visibly paled when the raw beef and egg yolk dish was served to her. Was here recently with 2 friends and for the mains I got the fillet steak with sauce Béarnaise, medium - it was fantastic, while most other restaurants when asked to do a medium steak, they turn up well done, this is one of the rare places that really know. Just Delicious. My friends and I ordered a nice bottle of Italian red and the staff was kind enough to bring out a decanter for it - wine also amazing. We ended up drinking and chatting long after our dinner was finished but the staff did not usher us out nor did they push us to quickly pay the bill. We went with two other couples and just to book they take a Euro 120 deposit which will be automatically deducted if you don't cancel 48 hours in advance ! We had the 8:15 sitting and after we got to the table we're informed the two main dishes we were interested in were no longer available. Went here on an impromptu quest for a budget-friendly dinner and decided to finally bite the bullet and treat ourselves to this place. Friend had the steak with bearnaise sauce, which she loved. I had the yellowtail, seared/rare. The yellowtail was around €27, but it was a very generous portion, actually large enough for two. Friend's steak was also a generous portion. Side portion of creamed spinach was lovely - not too rich or thick, which was nice as some restaurants tend to overdo it. We dined on midweek around 9pm and it was not crowded. I like Castletownbere crab and Wicklow lamb. If you like crab and lamb eat here! This place is a steakhouse and before I went was told by a few people to order a steak. I get great steak from Ray Doyle's butchers on Pearse St. or Clynes in Ringsend and can make steak a delicious steak diane or blue cheese sauce for my fillets. So I get disappointed when I order steaks in a lot of places. The waitress was brilliant and recommended the lamb. She said the chef said "it was really good at the moment". Well it was fantastic at that moment. All that was followed with a sticky toffee pudding which the waitress had also recommended. It was so delicious that angels cried while we were eating it. Great atmosphere and great ambiance plus it's the kind of place where the boring couple seated beside you that are not talking, won't be able to listen to your conversation. The bill was €130 for 2 people, 3 courses, side dishes and wine. Would definitely go back! Book in advance. read more
