Getting over the holidays, planning a trip, and sick from food poisoning - I head down to them and give them as many details about the situation that I can. To which the "vet" whom we don't normally see - interrupted answers to her own questions, didn't bother looking at his charts, made us both extremely uncomfortable. When she suggested taking him to the back to clip the area, my dog reacted - as well as I. I could tell by her energy I didn't want her alone with my dog. Sure enough he gets on the table to he looked at, in his butthole so he is nervous and she's shouting "sedation sedation". After getting it trimmed, she tells me he has a tumor. As my eyes water up because my 8 year old Aussie has been just diagnosed with a tumor she asked me, why I'm crying? I go on to answer this stupid question and then say, what's next. "Well surgery, do you have any questions?" I think I lost it then, I had many questions to which she wouldn't have cared or answered in my opinion. With no answers or previous information on tumors, to belittle and be condescending on someone trying to get an idea of what to do when this was a completely unexpected turnout. We immediately left, switched vets, and I have told everyone I can about this. I will beconsistently be warning people of this place.

When private equity takes over expect prices to rise and quality of care to go down. So, first sign I have noticed....when you call they do everything they can to avoid having to answer the phone. You are encouraged to call back if no one answers or to use the app. This is common practice for these PE firms---cut down on front office staff to increase revenue. So don't expect the phone to be answered. Go use the app and save us money on salaries. The other tactics already in play are to raise the prices on exams, try to force the customer to use Riverview's pharmacy, make it difficult to get refills without requiring an often unneeded exam, and so forth. It's time to start looking for another clinic that is not owned by private equity. My love for my dog should not be an opportunity for a profit driven PE firm to cash in on me. It's disgusting.

Mercy had been on the tail end of a bad hot spot break out due to allergies and one of the spots on her face had broken open again. I had heard the girls answering the phones telling people they had no open appointments until the next day. My appointment was just a run back with a tech but I asked if she had any advise on how to treat the hotspot. Dr. Hamilton offered to fit us in for an appointment. The very best Vet EVER!! Dr. Baxstrom comes all the way to…read moremy ranch. I have 12 horses and 1 dog, and I call him since 20 years for all my animals whenever I have a problem with one of them. He has saved me a lot of money while being straight honest and whenever it is possible he also helped me to find the right treatment by phone call! He taught me so many good things on how to fix smaller problems with my horses, and he always is there for me if I face a emergency. In Pagosa Springs the Veterinarians let me sit alone with a colicing horse for 6 hours while he was not available one day because he was out of town, and that horse died. It was very sad.
