I absolutely LOVE Fruit King. Here's why:…read more The produce is always fresh and somehow always seems to taste miles better than what I get at big chain grocery stores. Not to mention it's dirt cheap. I eat A LOT of fruits and veggies, which can get pretty pricey...thanks to Fruit King I can afford to feed myself :) And the good doesn't stop there. For such a tiny hole-in-the-wall market they still manage to have a great variety of produce. I should mention though that if you're looking for a fully stocked grocery you've come to the wrong place. However, they do carry things are difficult to find in regular groceries (for example, lemon grass...I can NEVER find lemon grass!). And you'll find other goodies besides fruits and veggies-- cheap spices, dry noodles, Asian cooking sauces, canned/jarred goods, dried fruit, etc. As far as service goes it's top-notch. The cashiers ring-in and bag your purchases at the speed of light. Fruit King is just plain delicious!

I just purchased 2 tubs of fresh organic strawberries for $3! Steal! That is way cheaper than St. Lawrence Market. I will keep my eye out for similar deals whenever I pass this place again. The inside of the store looks very similar to a Chinatown store setup, with a scale and 1 cashier at the front that quickly processes the transactions. It's true, there's no service provided here, and the area where they place the vegetable looks quite dingy but the freshness of their produce and price is what the 4 stars are for.

This looks like your typical small Chinese grocery store in Chinatown. It is packed with grocery…read moreproducts in every nook and cranny. Inside the lights are lower than in a big chain grocery store. They also sold potted plants and cut flowers. Prices are the same or slightly better than at a big chain grocery store. For example, I wanted to buy a bag of cherries. There were two prices, $2.99/lb and $4.99/lb. The difference was that the more expensive cherries were bigger in size. There were fruits displayed outside the store, like the cherries. When I was there, the cherries were in the shade. However, the temperature was 31C with humidex of 38C; are fruit affected by humidex? I suspect they are. But if the strong was shining o  it, I worry about the fruit getting over ripe. My cherries were OK for the $2.99/lb price I paid. At my first set of 25 cherries, one was rotten. The sweetness level varied from cherry to cherry. They sold all the typical fruit and vegetables, without having any Chinese vegetables or fruit. This is in Greektown, after all. It is best to use cash. There is a charge of $0.25 for debit, so that's acceptable. There is some minimum purchase for credit cards, but I don't remember the rules. There is no free WiFi. The store is not wheelchair accessible (aisles top narrow). There are no customer washrooms. There is paid and free neighbourhood street parking. Review 2023-217

After the event was over, I did some browsing around the supermarket before I left. It was my first time at any Galleria Supermarket. Think T&T Supermarket, but with Korean goods. I dig supermarkets and this one was cool. It's funny that I pass by the Galleria on Steeles Avenue West, just west of Yonge Street, every week after work. I've never gone in there, mainly because I'd have to do a left turn from Steeles Avenue West. When leaving this place, I'd need to do a left turn without a set of traffic lights. Otherwise, I'd have to do the around-the-block set of right turns. It's just seems so inconvenient. If I were heading westbound, I'd have better luck. I do like this Galleria. There was a lot of parking. I am also familiar with the area, with California Sandwiches around the corner. I saw massive tubs of kimchi. When you see so many varieties of kimchi and the vessels to have it ferment if you make your own, you know that you're in a good supermarket with everything that you need. I liked seeing travel utensil kits with chopsticks, spoons, and more. I got stuck in the housewares section, looking at plates, bowls, kettles, frying pans, rice cookers, and more. I love small appliances. It was so tough tearing myself out of this part of the store. I had a can of Sac Sac from the event. It had peeled grapes in it. It was so good that I know I'll return to this supermarket just for this product alone. So good! I frankly would like to live in this supermarket. It has heat-and-eat items. There's also a food court that I need to explore. It's a huge store! I loved everything that I saw. I'll be back to buy and be broke afterwards. (447)

I forgot to mention that they carry good quality cookware. After doing some groceries, my guilty pleasure has been to get a freshly made Soybean Curd Gimbap in the grab-and-go section.
