My favourite place to buy fruit and veg in the beach area. Great staff and parking is usually found on the street.

Very fresh produce at very reasonable prices. Their milk is even cheaper then Foodland next door. I get all my fruit & veg from here.

"Fresh" - says it all. Best produce in the East End. But I can't help feel they are making up the cash register prices on the fly.

Freshest fruit and veggies in the beach. Not too pricey either for an independent place! Berries and peas are so yummy there

Great fresh produce and reasonable prices. I find their fruit and veg keeps longer than produce purchased at other grocery chains.

I absolutely LOVE Fruit King. Here's why:…read more The produce is always fresh and somehow always seems to taste miles better than what I get at big chain grocery stores. Not to mention it's dirt cheap. I eat A LOT of fruits and veggies, which can get pretty pricey...thanks to Fruit King I can afford to feed myself :) And the good doesn't stop there. For such a tiny hole-in-the-wall market they still manage to have a great variety of produce. I should mention though that if you're looking for a fully stocked grocery you've come to the wrong place. However, they do carry things are difficult to find in regular groceries (for example, lemon grass...I can NEVER find lemon grass!). And you'll find other goodies besides fruits and veggies-- cheap spices, dry noodles, Asian cooking sauces, canned/jarred goods, dried fruit, etc. As far as service goes it's top-notch. The cashiers ring-in and bag your purchases at the speed of light. Fruit King is just plain delicious!

I just purchased 2 tubs of fresh organic strawberries for $3! Steal! That is way cheaper than St. Lawrence Market. I will keep my eye out for similar deals whenever I pass this place again. The inside of the store looks very similar to a Chinatown store setup, with a scale and 1 cashier at the front that quickly processes the transactions. It's true, there's no service provided here, and the area where they place the vegetable looks quite dingy but the freshness of their produce and price is what the 4 stars are for.

There is something sublime and comforting about grocery stores like this. First, there's the family aspect. Pride of ownership shines in the warm service and upkeep of the store. Secondly, years of experience has packed great product selection into a small space. When was the last time you could buy produce, meat, dry grocery and your basic refrigerated goods within the same footprint of a Tim Horton's? Finally, as the name suggests, Vincenzo's also boasts an enticing and ever-evolving selection of Italian sundries. Their deli and imported grocery selection is curated with great care, quality, and a love of food. Inside the lights are lower than in a big chain grocery store. They also sold potted plants and cut flowers. Prices are the same or slightly better than at a big chain grocery store. For example, I wanted to buy a bag of cherries. There were two prices, $2.99/lb and $4.99/lb. The difference was that the more expensive cherries were bigger in size. There were fruits displayed outside the store, like the cherries. When I was there, the cherries were in the shade. However, the temperature was 31C with humidex of 38C; are fruit affected by humidex? I suspect they are. But if the strong was shining o  it, I worry about the fruit getting over ripe. My cherries were OK for the $2.99/lb price I paid. At my first set of 25 cherries, one was rotten. The sweetness level varied from cherry to cherry. They sold all the typical fruit and vegetables, without having any Chinese vegetables or fruit. This is in Greektown, after all. It is best to use cash. There is a charge of $0.25 for debit, so that's acceptable. There is some minimum purchase for credit cards, but I don't remember the rules. There is no free WiFi. The store is not wheelchair accessible (aisles top narrow). There are no customer washrooms. There is paid and free neighbourhood street parking. Review 2023-217

It then changed to Beach IGA. Years later, it became Beach Foodland, which is still what it is called to date. This store has a hometown feel. I remember walking into the store with my mom as a kid and the folks working the produce section would say hi to me. As I grew up and shopped here to fetch groceries for my parents, staff were always friendly and asked how you were doing. I learned a lot about food and flowers from this grocery store. How to pick a carton of strawberries. How to check the expiration date on a carton of eggs. How to not pick out every box of cereal that had a toy inside. My shopping at this store has shaped how I shop to this day. I like a good deal. I also love variety. This place has both. Parking is interesting. Back then, we walked over and didn't need to think about it. Now that I live in suburbia, it's a concern. Lee Avenue allows you to park for free. However, it's pretty busy and you need to remember how to park on a slope on the north side. Alternatively, you can park along Queen Street East, but it's Green P parking that you need to shell out for. There's also a parking lot on the southeast corner of Queen and Lee. You also need to pay and spaces have always been limited in that lot. I always enjoyed the vast variety of spices in this place. The baking section is great. I started off learning how to bake. It had everything from yeast to brown sugar. I rarely did cake mixes, but we'd get the canned frosting now and again for variety. The produce section was my favourite. Everything was fresh and nicely presented. To this day, the produce section tends to be my indication of whether I'll enjoy shopping at a grocery store. The aisles remain narrow. It's a smallish store that packs a lot into it. Accessibility-wise, the aisles may be a bit of a challenge if you have a wheelchair or walker. I didn't drop by while I was in the neighbourhood yesterday. I felt that if I did, my nostalgia would have sent me into overdrive with a flood of memories. I will drop by when I'm back in the area, but it's nice to see that the store continues to thrive over the decades. (161)

They are…read morenot only consistent in the things that they don't carry that is featured in the flyer, but also in the reaction you get when you ask about the items you're looking for, from the flyer. It's always a quizzical look and 'No, that's not carried here' in a tone that suggests that you should knoow better than to think they carry it. So if you enjoy getting the weekly Foodland flyer and seeing thigns that really appeal to you and then going to the Foodland store to not be able to buy it, this one in theBeach is as good as the one on Danforth. Also, good luck getting any of the staff to make eye contact with you if you have a question. I suggest you do what I do and start looking a little squirrely, as though you're on the verge of stealing some food and THEN they will come over. It's also a lot of fun to see how disappointed they are when you actually DO have a legitimate question that they should answer - but instead direct you to find some random person in the back of the store - who isn't even in that day. By the way, I will be reviewing the Foodland in the North part of Toronto soon - as I already have some things from the flyer I'm wanting and I look forward to them not being available there either. And then it's off to the Islington location... where they also won't have them.
