I came here with 2 friends for Sunday brunch, and after a long wait we were hungry, excited for food, and finally had a table. Two of us ordered the eggs florentine, the other ordered the Norwegian (with salmon). After about half an hour, our waiter came to tell us that the eggs florentine were not possible because they had run out of spinach, so we had to choose something else, such as eggs benedict or norwegian. I don't eat ham or smoked salmon, so asked if a veggie version could be made for either of these, with no resolution offered. I eventually asked if I could have it made with avocado instead of meat, which the kitchen said would be ok. Our eggs arrived, and to be honest were very underwhelming. No garnish, no nothing, just two poached eggs with some really yellow hollandaise on top of soggy-ish english muffins, and in my case a few slices of avo. It tasted ok, but the presentation and lack of anything else on the plate was just disappointing, especially when you can find beautiful eggs florentine elsewhere in Paris. We decided to share french toast and a piece of cheesecake after our eggs, because we still weren't satisfied. The cheesecake was good, and the french toast was actually really tasty, however we had asked for the banana to be on the side, and it still came on the french toast.
There are way better brunches to be had in Paris that are much less overpriced and underwhelming than Marcel. read more
