Rats - We arrived at 923 am to a water saying - we are not open yet with doors open a sign saying 9 am and online saying 9 am we waited while we saw rats scurry from the kitchen to the resister inside. Because of that I only ordered a $5 pancake and bottle water. My mom got the American breakfast which she said was a 2 out of 5 in taste and cost 30 euro - I would not say it was bad just I would never come back. read more

Twinkies is sufficient if you have a hankering for a somewhat American-style breakfast. It's way more than I would care to spend on a breakfast on any day though, 24 euros! We went with the French-style breakfast, while still spendy at 18 euros, it was filling and came with a choice of freshly-squeezed juice and a choice of coffee, tea, or something else. Do go with he soft boiled eggs. They came out very nicely done with a cute face and a saying drawn/written on. The jams were tasty and plentiful. They even provide a container of Nutella. I would give this place 3 1/2 stars if there was that half star. I was a little bit surprised to find myself in a really sketchy sketchy neighborhood. It was close to noon on a Sunday, which explains why all the prostitutes were still out in their doorways in the morning, working it hard up-and-down the two or three blocks around Twinkies. Blame it my religious upbringing, but it was a little bit hard to enjoy Sunday brunch on the patio surrounded by sex shops and adult toy stores and massage parlors. I loved this place. Already from hearing the name I wanted to go. As a foreigner I can see why people maybe will not come here while 'visiting Paris', but as a foreigner LIVING here.... a traditional breakfast is always a nice change. Twinkie is indeed on the pricier side with a brunch for 21euros, but there is SO MUCH INCLUDED. The freshly squeezed juice already made it beyond worth it. I had the Lox breakfast with salmon eggs benedict and it was lovely. All the jam is made in house and the decorations are simple and precious. With the brunch you not only get the freshly squeezed juice of your choice, hot beverage of your choice and a delicious egg breakfast (depending on what you order with bacon/hasbrowns or english muffins/hollondaise sauce etc) but an assortment of delicious bread and homemade jam. Well worth it all! I highly suggest this place if you're craving a cozy good-quality breakfast-- at any time of the day. It gets crowded on the weekends around 12-1pm, so attention! Why oh why did I not listen to the little voice inside my head? The one that said one should never stray into foreign food territory when one is in Paris for the weekend. I mean, why would you need to right? It's Paris. But I was entertaining a guest, who when asked what they'd like for breakfast on this sunny Sunday morning said 'eggs'...hmm eggs in Paris...a challenge. But never one to turn down a challenge I started nosing around my fellow yelpers reviews to see what I could find. Turned out we were a few minutes walk from Twinkie, which resides on rue St Denis, which many moons ago was a pretty risque area. Now of course it's in a gentrification upswing and apparently the place that 'le tout Paris' is heading to for the latest food fad 'le brunch'. So we thought - why not? Let's give it a shot. What's the worse that could happen... Well, it turns out, the worse is actually quite bad... Pretty terrible service, even by Paris' standards. Dirty cutlery, no replacements, half the food missing or delayed and in the wrong order. The scrambled eggs were nuked to within an inch of their life, the bacon had cartilage in it that I had to pick out of my mouth, the 'pancakes', when they eventually came, were both pretty much raw inside - to the point of oozing batter out when cut into. The table next to us ordered exactly the same thing as we did and if it had not been for them getting a glorious basket of tasty looking hazelnut bread with Nutella to spread on it we wouldn't have known that was missing from our meal. But when we requested what was rightfully ours, a rather sad looking half-filled basket of bread crusts appeared, with a forlorn looking pot of pickle like thing accompanying it. After repeatedly asking for missing bread and clean cutlery and never actually receiving them, we gave up. Admittedly, when I pointed out the medium rare 'cuisson' of our pancakes to the waiter he did offer to have some more made, but by that point we just wanted out. When the smiley waitress who seated us came out - not because she had heard there were issues - but to greet a friend who was standing outside with his dog - my friend informed her that the pancakes were a little, underdone, to which she responded 'oh well the chef was probably rushing, tanpis' All in all, I learned my lesson. No matter the 'tendance' in Paris, or the desires of visiting gastronomes, stick with the classics. If the fashionable want to dine at this apparently up and coming establishment please be my guest. But the traditionalist in me says a chocolat chaud and croissant at a cafe terrace would have been a much better idea... read more

For €24 you can indulge in a full brunch experience-a basket of breads with amazing jellies and Nutella, an entree, a fresh juice (carrot and ginger ) and choice of hot chocolate (served with whipped cream and marshmallows) American coffee or tea. I looooooved Twinkie Breakfast!!! It was so freaking cute. When my ex (AHEM) boyfriend and I ate here for breakfast, there were only two other parties. It's a very small place, crammed full of '70s and '80s kitschy memorabilia. The breakfast was very sizable and yummy - they offered a chocolate/granola thing and nutella on bread and fresh fruit and more. I would definitely recommend it to others. The meal I had here today was excellent. The scrambled eggs were top notch, the beans and sausage the same. My partner had eggs benny which he said was also excellent. Your meal includes coffee and fresh made juice. Our server recommended the orange-carrot which was delicious. Before your meal you get a large basket of assorted fresh breads accompanied by butter, nutella, jam, and some apple cinnamon concoction which was so good we ate by the spoonful. The inside of this place is adorable, spacious, clean and pleasing. Decorations were kitschy and cute. The cherry on top of this was our adorable server who was so kind and accommodating. She translated the menu (we don't speak French) and offered us the wifi password within the first 5 minutes of arriving. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Paris. read more

I would have given Twinkie negative stars if possible. For some reason, Twinkie is a popular spot for American tourists. I got the Salmon Egg Benedict. It was one of the worst I had ever tried. Bread was cold and stale, chocolate added to the milk had way too much sugar, and €24 price-tag was ridiculous for this terrible-quality brunch. There are many wonderful restaurants nearby. A week later and I still haven't been able to digérer my disappointment with Sunday 'brunch' at Twinkie. Do yourself a favor and avoid it. We had to find our own menus, then wait until the waitress was bored enough to remember to take our order & the order of the table next to us (who had already been seated and ready to order when we arrived). We were served before our neighbors, as naturally she'd taken our order first. The presentation left a lot to be desired - especially the three, tiny pieces of what were supposed to be bacon, arranged with miles of space between them so they looked more like little fried worms than anything related to ham. Our order wasn't complete, but as our waitress was busy eating in the kitchen, none of the other waiters acknowledged our existence, even when my husband shouted politely as they ran past. (he's French, somehow he can shout politely - after six attempts to speak & wave at progressively louder levels) After 30 minutes, we gave up and decided to leave, going to pay at the register. Despite waving and staring at our waitress through the window while she helped prepare orders (and continue to eat with her hands), she continued to ignore us. Only when we purposely stood to block the walkway near the register did another waiter deign to acknowledge us. Our waitress finally stuck her head out to ask one of them to ring us up & oddly asked if we enjoyed it. My husband told her that we were leaving without dessert (the scones included in the brunch), but she replied that we'd gotten the extra bagel he'd ordered, so 'tant pis'. And then made sure the person ringing us up charged us for the entire brunch and the extra bagel. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. There's no point in being squeezed in like a sardine for a sad-looking, incomplete meal and non-existent service. (and I mean not even to Paris standards) I'd rather get a brunch at McDonald's. At least there they don't criticize the customer when they point out that something is missing from the order. And if they do, I can ignore a bad attitude for less than 5 euros. read more
