We stopped in here for breakfast because it was right across the street from our Airbnb and it looked really cute. They didn't have a ton of gluten free options, which was a real bummer. I ended up just getting scrambled eggs with bacon. The bacon was delicious, but the eggs were way undercooked. My friend, who is also Gf. Got the avocado toast which she said was good but it was s small portion. My husband got the hot dog deluxe, which he said was really good. Our server was super slow and didn't check on us until we were almost done with food (and as soon as we finished eating it started to rain so we left in a hurry). The coffee was very good but I wouldn't recommend this place for a GF person. If you can eat with reckless abandon then maybe check it out. read more

Marcel - Eggs with bacon - American Near Me - Paris, 75

Marcel does not live up to the hype. Aside from the bobo atmosphere and the trendy decor, there's really NO reason why people should trek up to Lamarck Caulaincourt for this brunch. The one good thing about Marcel was the fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice. Unfortunately, it couldn't really save this meal since I drank the cup in 5 minutes. Let me start with the scones with homemade chantilly and jam. It was hard to open with my hands, let alone a knife! I then realized that the scone was frozen and reheated....and tasted like cardboard strewn with little raisins. My egg benedict had a nicely poached egg, but I couldn't even taste the yolk since everything was drowning in tepid hollandaise sauce. And the hollandaise sauce was not very lemony, so everything tasted like butter (and not the good kind.) My friend's omelet was a flat affair with gruyere cheese. I'm talking a 2-egg omelet that was BROWNED. Jacques Pepin would be horrified. I visitted this place for brunch. Space between tables are little tiny as all other restaurants in paris though, the size of table was enough for foods and drinks. Servers were friendly and nice. Clean and beautiful space. What the best is, FOOD IS FANTASTIC. This brunch made my day. I strongly recommend you to go this place! read more

This was an experience!! I was thrilled to eat becasue the food smells great from outside and in. The place is a little tighter than most, but that's OK I like the comfy feeling of being with your friends and eating together without oversized menus and decor that is in the way on the table, so this was nice for me. The wait staff is very patient and nice and they are accomodating. (You have to remember you are in Europe, no rush on things) I had my french friends help me with the menu, and I finally breaded steak with vegetables and potatoes. It was pretty decent. Wasn't overcooked it very delicious seasonimg with oregano salt pepper and very good bread crumbs for batter. All in all it was good I will go back again if I had the chance. But it can be a little bit pricey because they are serving American food in France. The wine selection gives it a point for 3 stars. read more

We had a lovely stroll around Montmartre, and was happy to have had Marcel recommended. The restaurants in the area is very touristy, but not Marcel. It's just a couple hundred yards from all the action, but in a very quiet and nice neighbourhood. The place is not big, so don't expect a table without waiting and/or a reservation. The service was nice and fast, and the food really nice. We got a crap sandwich which was delicious, and a hotdog deluxe which was good, but if your are hungry or eat a lot, don't expect to be full. They have a couple beers on the menu and different kinds of wine etc. All in all a place I can recommend. read more

If your tastes lean more towards a North American Gastropub in 2014 with a health code violation - you've found the "restaurant café" for you! The menu is uninspired and lazy. An American-style restaurant with a hot dog and pancakes - as the inimitable Meryl says in the Devil Wears Prada, "Groundbreaking". Oh my...the key lime pie! Not my favorite crust ever (kind of a weird take on a graham cracker crust, which frankly cannot be done right without Honey Maid, imo), but the filling more than made up for it. The Cobb salad was also superb, and the eggs in the Benedict perfectly poached. The hollandaise was solid, though not the best I've had (I am biased for my aunt's superior sauce). Also very happy to find a café filtre, which I constantly miss whilst living in Paris. And the place in general reminded me of home, which I just sort of needed today, so 4-stars. Service is typically Parisian, which totally works for me during brunch. As per usual, I could do with more space between the tables, but, hey, it's Paris--c'est la vie. read more

Certainly one of the better spots in the neighbourhood of Montmartre where it is hard to find anything not resembling a tourist-trap. We had Dinner there and it was a good overall experience. The food was simple, but well prepared and fresh. Service was quick and friendly. It isn´t cheap overall, but given the quality of the ingredients and the location I think 'Marcel' is still decent value for money. Other positives? Nice quiet location only a few meters off the heart of tourist-hell, mixed crowd of relaxed locals and tourists, a good and affordable wine-selection. You should ideally call ahead of your visit and make a reservation because it is a small little joint. Negatives? My husband and I stopped in this restaurant after exploring Montmartre. It was on a quiet neighborhood street that was just beautiful. We sat outside and watched as dads pushing babies in strollers would pop in and drink their un cafe and then head off on their day. It had a cool locals vibe. We sipped on chocolate chaud and then he ordered an omelette and I ordered the Reuben sandwich. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the best one I've had. I'm going to post a photo, because it is just too perfect of a sandwich not to show off. His omelette was good also, but I definitely won in our never ending quest to win best order. This place was recommended by a friend and by our hotel. I'm so glad we were able to eat here. read more

Without a doubt, one of our favorite eateries in Paris. The onion soup is the best we have had in our long Paris stay. Several other delicious dishes on their menu as well. And the service? Nice salads, breakfast type foods, and a few other menu items that would be good for brunch or lunch. Was recommended by a Parisienne and did not disappoint although we were seated outside and when it started to rain were told there was nothing they could do. Thankfully it didn't do more than drip a few drops and we finished before the rain really started! So would recommend sitting indoors if there's even a hint at grey clouds as there is zero cover or awning. read more

A hip American restaurant located in a charming street of Montmartre. The food is simple but good, and you feel like in a restaurant in NY. I loved the matcha latte! Beware, on Sundays, you should book, as a huge crowd comes to Brunch all the afternoon long. read more

Maybe I loved Marcel because it's everything Paris restaurants aren't. And that's great every once in a while. Real coffee. Eggs swimming in hollandaise. Hot sauce. Maybe it was the relief of spreading out in the sun after constant fighting for elbow space in front of crowded cafes. All I know is, le brunch at Marcel was comfort food done right. Minus one star for the verrrrry spotty service and prices, but that's #paris I suppose. read more
