MANAGER THREATENED ME IN WRITING!!! (see attached photo) He said he would file a a complaint with the medical board for saying I would write him bad reviews because flowers did not arrive the day they were ordered for. Manager called me a liar, said that they had arrived. They actually didn't arrive for at least another couple days. What kind of behavior is this? Well, there's a lot to unpack there, but I can tell you that it's not professional, courteous, kind, or decent. Avoid doing business with an establishment like this there are other flower shops. THEY REBRANDED AS CHICAGO FLOWER and now have 4.8 stars on Google. Both businesses have the same phone number and address - this is clear deception based on my experience with Chicago Flower, reading through their google reviews, and Marcel Florist reviews on Yelp. Don't trust them. Go to a different flower shop and avoid the headache. Not even the best flower restaurants in chicago have 4.8 starts on Google. I received a contact free floral delivery for my birthday. The arrangement actually came the day before my birthday which worked out--a nice pre-birthday surprise. Even though I was not at home to receive the arrangement, the flowers were placed outside my door. I appreciate that the roses and hydrangeas seem to be long lasting, and that there is no filler (either the dreaded green foam or a lot of leaves/branches). It is also easy to refresh the water in the vase without having to navigate holes of floral tape. Some arrangers tend to go overboard, not knowing it is a pain to remove this from the vase once the flowers have had their day in the sun. Will definitely be ordering from here and recommending to others for their floral delivery needs. read more

I ordered these flowers almost two weeks in advance. I'll leave a photo of what was promised and what was delivered. They didn't match what so ever. My wife's boyfriend and I were planning on getting something nice for her and dropped a pretty penny for them too. Sadly when she received the flowers they looked old and somewhat wilted. My boyfriend has a small balcony and we wanted to dress it up a bit with some flowers. We drive by this florist frequently and wanted to check it out. They had a nice outside selection of flowers and plants for a variety of containers, pots and planters. The staff was very knowledgeable and sent us in the right direction. We picked out a couple of flowers and were surprised at the price: $6 for two 4-inch planters. The sign below them said $7 for one, but she defiantly rang up two. My boyfriend had flowers from here delivered to my work for me, that were absolutely glorious. So, naturally, I wanted to use the same florist for Mother's day. I picked the bouquet, and gave them a time to deliver the flowers. (Specified after noon please). I guess they deliver their flowers based off the driver's personal schedule, so they had to drop the flowers off at 11:00 am... the *opposite* of AFTER noon, which I only learned when they called me at 10:30 for directions to the place. But I also feel that the bouquet that was delivered was not what I ordered.. You be the judge.. but I didn't like the choice in garnish leaves, and I feel that since I ended up paying double the price of the bouquet for delivery, I should probably get what I have ordered, or at least be notified of changes being made. read more

Things I liked about my experience with this florist: -I ordered online, and Marcel Florist charges fewer bait-and-switch charges than other online florists (handling, processing, whatever other fee on top of delivery fee (the one fee that makes sense, yes)) -It was a smooth transaction--I specified my delivery date, and it was delivered on time, no problems. What I didn't like: -It wasn't in the cute bubble vase the photo+description promised. -In fact, it really didn't look like the photo at all. It didn't use the same flowers in the photo. I understand sometimes this can happen, but I expect that if a flower isn't available, they'll supplement with another flower. The flowers were fresh and lovely, the arrangement pretty, with a coil of willow inside the vase for keeping the flowers arranged, and for its natural beauty through the clear vase. I hate Yelp makes me give at least 1 star to leave a review. If I could give -100 stars to Marcel Florist that would still be too many. Yes, -100. I ordered a bouquet of flowers from Marcel Florist on 5/10/13 at roughly 11 a.m. I sent it to my mother for Mother's Day. I upgraded the order to a 'premium' bouquet w/ satin ribbon (an extra charge of $20), to include cookies (an extra charge of $10), to be delivered within 2 hours (an extra charge of $25). Towards the end of the day (4:45 pm), I realized my mother hadn't mentioned the flowers and called to see if she received them. She hadn't as they had just arrived at her job, which she had left about 30 minutes ago. Luckily, the receptionist called to tell her she had a delivery otherwise she wouldn't have gotten her flowers until today, when she returned to work. Needless to say this infuriated me and totally inconvenienced my brother who now had to make a special trip to go pick up her flowers. When I got home, I was embarrassed by and shocked to see the bouquet she had received. Imagine sending your mother flowers to express your gratitude and love for her and they look like crap. :( Seriously, I could have picked a bouquet of weeds from the alley and done better than Marcel Florist. Long story short, the flowers did not arrive until almost 5 pm, the ribbon is not satin, the cookies were broken and the bouquet was considerably, ridiculously, insultingly smaller than the expected 'premium' bouquet. These may sound like minor issues but when you spend $55 on upgrades (in addition to their standard delivery fees and taxes, which ended up costing more than the actual flowers!), you should receive the services as promised. I have attempted to resolve this issue with Marcel Florist several times by calling to speak with them. The majority of the time, their voicemail service answers and I have left several messages. The one time I was able to actually speak with a person she said she would have to have someone 'look into' my order and call me back. They have not done so as of yet. I'm not surprised and don't expect them to 'look into' OR call back as the person I spoke with never even asked for my phone or order number!! I have not received the expected services for which I paid (rush delivery, unbroken cookies and a 'premium' bouquet). To further add insult to injury, a mere 3 days later, the flowers have DIED! I am HIGHLY dissatisfied with the merchandise and service and feel as if I have no other recourse than to dispute this charge with my credit card company since Marcel Florist clearly has made no attempt to resolve this issue. Save yourself the hassle, inconvenience and money and don't EVER order flowers or anything else from this place! Thanks for ruining my mom's special day Marcel Florist! You suck. read more

I ordered a bamboo plant from Marcel Florist for my fiance's desk to congratulate her on her new job. 3 weeks after delivery the bamboo was completely dead. I sent an email to Marcel Florist with a picture of the plant and short description of what happened. They immediately replied via email and then called to apologize. They sent a new healthy bamboo (free of charge) within a few days. 5 stars would have been a healthy plant to begin with, but a very well deserved 4 stars for correcting the situation quickly and professionally. I have had one great experience and one not so great experience with Marcel. I ordered a bouquet for my boyfriend's mother the first time I met her, and they made a BEAUTIFUL spring creation and even met me on Sunday so I could pick it up, even though they're not open on Sundays! So nice. But, when I asked for another Sunday bouquet a few months later, they at first said they'd do it, but then called me back to say they couldn't. That's fine -- but when I explained that I'd had a Sunday bouquet before, the guy told me "We all work 16 hour days." Like I'm some sort of task-master! (!!!) I subsequently ordered from CityScents. They're open on Sundays. But still, if there's no Sunday issue, I reccomend Marcel - they made a lovely creation the first time. read more

I found what I wanted on his page and had the option of ordering on line but decided to call, instead. I'm so glad I did. I don't know who I spoke with, could have been Marcel himself, but whoever it was totally made me feel 100% positive I made the right choice. Ordering was SO easy, not one bit confusing. I told him which selection on line I was looking at, made a special request to tweak it just a bit, he asked if I wanted to add any balloons or chocolates, and that was it. I placed the order about 2:00 and expected next day delivery but was pleasantly surprised when told they would be delivered the same day. 5 short hours later, I received a text from my daughter saying they had just been delivered and she was SO happy to have them!! My roommate passed away this year very unexpectedly and as a 20-something, funeral flowers were not something I was used to ordering. When I called Macel's and explained the situation, they were more than willing to work with me to create an arrangement perfect of the occassion.
