A loved one recently passed away...Since I was unable to travel to attend his funeral service, I wanted to send a floral arrangement/plant so that family members could have something cheerful & living to take home & care for after the services. After a few less-than-stellar prior experiences ordering floral arrangements without seeing them in-person (e.g., via telephone & online), I was admittedly a bit leery about placing a long-distance order in Chicago since I'm in California. As Forrest Gump says, "Ya never know what you're gonna get!" After checking Yelp, however, I decided to try my luck with "Athena Flowers." Wow! Was I in for a pleasant surprise! For starters, "Athena Flowers'" prices were reasonable. Not only this, but they kept me informed with regular updates on the status of my order. They initially sent a "Thank You" email upon receiving my order. Next, they sent an email thanking me (again) & letting me know the name of the floral designer who was actually working on my arrangement (very nice personal touch)! They emailed (again) to let me know that the arrangement was on its way to its destination. And, lastly, they emailed me (again) to inform me that the arrangement had been successfully delivered to the funeral home --- just in time for the visitation! And here's the shocker: Unlike many florists I've dealt with who charge a wire fee PLUS a delivery fee, "Athena Flowers'" delivery was actually FREE!!! As for the appearance of the arrangement, one of my family members snapped a photo of the plant I sent, & it was nice. Not too small, but not too large for a family member to carry home & enjoy for months, if not years to come. Cheerful, pleasant, & very fresh. The loss of a loved one is never easy, especially during the holiday season, & while remaining socially distant/isolated during the COVID-19 pandemic. But...when it came to sending an arrangement as one of our gestures to express our condolences, "Athena Flowers" made the process seamless --- even at the last minute & so close to Thanksgiving. Thanks so much "Athena Flowers!"
For my wedding last July, I decided to go to Athena. Prices here were the similar to those in the area, but I chose Athena based on the service provided the first day and their stellar reviews. I left very excited and hopeful, as I was ensured to be amazed. I looked at their catalogues the day of, but I did not find a picture of exactly what I was looking for. I asked for a waterfall bouquet and made sure to show pictures of what I had in mind (picture shown below). Instead, I got a ball with greenery and sticks sticking out. What?!? That wasn't the worst part! I asked for delivery to my hotel on the morning of the wedding, as I was sure no one would be able to pick it up. Delivery was scheduled for 11am, and when that time came around, I had my maid of honor call. Guess what! They had completely forgotten about my bouquet's delivery. I don't remember exactly what the excuse was, but I was told that they would send someone out "immediately." I was to walk down the aisle at 1pm, so my mother and maid of honor stayed behind to wait for the bouquet to arrive. Right as they were about to leave at 12:40 (since they couldn't wait any longer), the bouquet arrived. They didn't know what I had ordered, and they were in a rush (as you could imagine), so they took the bouquet and left. When they arrived to the church, I couldn't believe my eyes. What was that?!? It wasn't ugly, but it wasn't what I had ordered. For a bouquet of well over $200, I was hoping for much more. What can I say? Make sure they have a real picture of what you're looking for? Call two days prior to make sure they don't forget you? For whatever it's worth, at least the boutonnières were nice. Also, no we didn't receive an apology or anything after. Pictures added below.

I wanted to support a local business for Mother's Day vs 1-800-Flowers type company and found Athena Flowers. I'm so glad I went this route. I ordered online and experience was seamless - the flowers were beautiful. My wife loves them! I chose the Mother's Day florists choice and they did a great job with the arrangement - likely much better than me picking it out on my own. :) In addition, the delivery was handled with great care. I'm happy I could support a small business, especially during this time, and will be going back to Athena for my future flower needs.
I have ordered from here several times and just like to express how they never fail in providing beautiful flower arrangements. Have been our florist to go too for some time now - they are very friendly in taking the order and delivery as stated. Thank you!

VA family members sent me flowers for a special occasion. There was a delivery mix up, which was my fault. The owner repeatedly attempted to get ahold of my brother-in-law since they couldn't reach me. The owner and delivery driver were completely professional at all times, even when I blamed them for the error. The flowers were delivered today in the time frame the store had stated. The arrangement is gorgeous! And the driver handed me a box of Russell Stover assorted chocolates as an apology for the confusion. I would highly recommend using this flower shop. The florist's work is original!. The owner and the delivery man are kind, courteous, respectful, and in every interaction, completely professionals.
My cousin's wedding was in a little over a month ago, and I was the maid of honor. I went with her to pick out all the arrangements, and was blown away by the work they do. We just got in the wedding photos, so this goes out to all future brides...if you're going to splurge on something for your wedding, please have it be the flowers. My cousin's wedding flowers were beautiful all the way from the cake, to the center pieces, to her bouquet and ours(bridesmaids.) I don't recall the name of the girl we had the consultation with, but she was incredible! She was so patient with us, and I loved that they had actual examples in the store, as well as piles and piles of albums PACKED with their work. She was so good at showing us what she thought would look good, and gave us amazing options to choose from. The bouquets were all delivered to us that morning, and by the time we arrived at the venue, everything was set up, and as we were getting ready to go at the end of the night they arrived to pick up the vases. I know this may not sounds like a lot, but trust me, when you're running around from the moment you get up, it's INCREDIBLE to know that you don't have to worry about picking up the flowers or making sure they set up right, or collecting all the vases to make sure to return them the next day. I felt as though she not only offers an amazing, beautiful service, but also a piece of mind. I couldn't be happier with her work!
Gabriella does magic with flowers. They are 5stars for a reason. And now i know why. She has word of honor. Patient. Understanding. Punctual. Whatever you are paying, surely its not for the flowers. Coz flowers can be bought everywhere. My money went to her passion. It seems like its all she does. Try and see for yourselves!
My go to place for beautiful flowers for all occasions. The staff is very nice and helpful. I called 5/24/18 at 10:45 am to order roses to be delivered the same day to my wife for our Anniversary. The flowers arrived before 2 pm. My wife loved them, as she does everything that comes from Athena's. I would recommend this shop to everyone.

They always put together the prettiest bouquets and vases. Flowers are always fresh and vibrant. They also last a very long time when taken care of properly. I will use this reputable flower shop over and over. Never disappoints! read more

I wanted to support a local business for Mother's Day vs 1-800-Flowers type company and found Athena Flowers. I'm so glad I went this route. I ordered online and experience was seamless - the flowers were beautiful. My wife loves them! I chose the Mother's Day florists choice and they did a great job with the arrangement - likely much better than me picking it out on my own. :) In addition, the delivery was handled with great care. Absolute rip off. I spent $70 on this order the first photo is what I was suppose to get. The 2nd photo is what I received. What is each flower $10 a piece?! I would have never spent this had I saw the arrangement prior. Scammers. read more

Hands down the best Florist in the city! You can tell they are passionate about what they do and they take the time to put something beautiful together every time. Very affordable and the flowers last a LONG time. Forget 1-800 Flowers or ProFlowers, Athena's is 100x better and lasts twice or three times as long. My first time purchasing here and it will not be my last. I bought the classic love bouquet and it is absolutely beautiful. They even added more flowers than what I originally purchased. Perfect place and the staff are very accomodating. Ordered online and was ready in an hour. its even fixed and placed in a way that it will be protected if placed in the car. Love it. I went in with a specific idea, and let's just say it was portrayed beautifully! I made an order for 2 dozen roses for my grandmothers birthday. Athena flowers went above and beyond in the arrangement and making my idea come to life. I've found myself a permanent florist and I'm so happy. I had it delivered and they came in the time frame however it was barely within the last 15 minutes of the time frame which kind of sucked but for how beautiful the flowers were, it made up for it. They even were so kind to include in a balloon. Great place that I DEFINITELY recommend!! read more

We ordered our wedding flowers (orchids) from here back in 2010 and have been customers ever since. Everything the owner (Gabriela) has put together for us - from corsages to birthday bouquets to a firefighter memorial bouquet - has been breathtaking. Her husband and employees are courteous and hardworking. She has accommodated us last-minute on multiple occasions. Her beautiful storefront keeps the community positive during the unstable economy. We only hope her business grows more during the years ahead. There are florists all over the city, but you won't go anywhere else after your experience with Athena's. read more

Gabriella was a dream come true to people like me who are clueless about flowers! She made bridal party arrangements and a couple arrangements for church for my wedding and did a beautiful job. She had suggestions based on a couple pictures I sent her and was easily able to work within my budget. I honestly know little to nothing about flowers so just trusted her opinion and I'm so happy I did. She even hand delivered the flowers to my parents house the morning of the wedding to make sure I was happy which was a very nice touch! read more
