My wife and I bought our house this spring and each time it rained, I noticed it would sometimes overflow the gutters. So, I put it off, with the intentional of cleaning the gutters myself. Well, then one night it decided to rain several inches and the water overflowed our gutters so much that it even pulled some gutter spikes lose. It was a mess. I scheduled Maple Leaf online and was in contact with them through email. Before the end of the week, they were at our place, cleaned the gutters, and fixed the issue with the gutter spikes - ALL while being in their peak season. Our townhouse association has been using them for several years. They come twice a year and then bill us. One of the homeowners does not like the service but the rest have no complains. Easy and convenient. This company was recommended by a friend. I have used them a few time through the year and each time was pretty straightforward. I booked online. They come and clean the gutters, then notify me with a note on the door and an email. Then, I pay online. The great thing is I don't have to be home during the service. We called Maple Leaf to have our gutters cleaned due to a problem we were experiencing after it rained with a lot of water overflowing in the rear house gutter. We have used Maple Leaf for several years now and have been very happy and satisfied with the quality and responsiveness of their service. We live in a neighborhood with A LOT of trees, so we are on a regular cleaning schedule (twice in the spring, twice in the fall/winter). Anytime I happen to notice that the gutters are especially clogged, all I have to do is call or e-mail, and Maple Leaf bumps us up in the schedule and comes immediately. I find the price for the service to be very reasonable, given that they always send a two-person crew who clean the gutters, front and back, and then make sure that our patios are blown free of leaves afterwards, so everything looks nice and tidy. (And given that we have a three-story drop in the back, cleaning the gutters ourselves is not an option!) Our service this past weekend, with Damian and James as the technicians, was a great example -- fast, efficient, courteous (they knocked on the door first to make sure we knew they were there), and thorough. We previously used this company and had been happy, they had even reported a problem with a gutter screen and gave us a reasonable price for a repair. Then, all of a sudden this year, they said they would not honor their price for pre-existing customers because of the material our roof was made of (which by the way has never changed) because they wanted to walk across it rather than carrying ladders over land as they work on commission. They tried to nearly double the price. We pushed back and said their crew came while we were home and spent a very short period of time, they relented and said they would not walk on our roof. Then, we scheduled a visit this winter and observed that they walked right across the roof in full violation of their company's policy. Instead of offering a refund, the respondent to our complaint actually said "it's human nature because their employees work on commission." Then they informed us that the price would double for the next visit for a small townhome that took their crew less than 15 minutes to clean. I guess they think we are truly stupid and can't do our market research. Save yourself some grief and don't take their intro rate that they promise you can keep, they'll find a way to try to charge you more, no doubt. (apparently they all work on commission and think this is how they will retain customers?!) read more
