Extremely Disappointed - Poor Quality and Disorganized…read more I've lived in Dixon for a couple of years now and have been trying out different dental clinics in search of a reliable, long-term provider. Unfortunately, my experience with Dental Smiles was one of the worst I've had. I came in for a root canal and was immediately met with disorganization. I waited over 40 minutes just to be seated. Once in the chair, I was moved between three different rooms--first, no X-ray machine; second, the speed drill wasn't working; finally, a third chair where the procedure could begin. That should have been my red flag. The assistant taking my X-rays seemed inexperienced, requiring multiple attempts and even forgetting to place the lead vest--something that should be basic protocol. That alone made me question what other important steps they might overlook. The root canal itself, performed by the doctor, was okay, but the problems continued afterward. The assistant was tasked with creating my temporary crown and didn't bother adjusting it for proper bite alignment. Her excuse was "it's only temporary," which left me chewing on one side for a week. I didn't trust her mold work at all. When my permanent crown arrived, things didn't improve. The doctor overused the bonding material, and it overflowed onto my tooth. Again, she passed the cleanup work off to the same assistant, who struggled to do it properly. I ended up having to scrape off the leftover bonding material myself at home. Upon inspection, the crown was smaller than expected and clearly not shaped with precision. Bottom line: this clinic cuts corners and relies too heavily on undertrained assistants for critical parts of treatment. Patients pay good money expecting quality, especially for something as important as a crown, not subpar, rushed work. Luckily, my sister-in-law is a dentist and will be fixing their mistakes. I won't be going back--and I suggest others think twice before putting their trust in this office.

So is Dr. Ramirez--very kind, pleasant, nice…read more They seem to really try to please their customers with kind remarks, quick response to setting up an appointment, and pleasantries during a visit. Dr. Ramirez has some of the latest equipment to do work on your mouth. He ws actually pretty good about giving me injections, and he didn't hurt me much. But my son told me that, when my son said it hurt, that the dentist ignored him, and seemed to become more aggressive commenting about my son being a complainer. My son dislikes what he sees as Dr. Ramirez' distainful attitude toward him and complained every time I set up an appointment for him. But when I returned because my root canal was infected (the first one I've ever had done), they were like deer in the headlights--wide eyed, not responsive. They would not respond at all to my complaint. It almost felt like the Stepford Wives in that they did not even hear me but went about their own plan doing good. It felt like the staff was programmed not to respond to any complaints--almost like the Stepford Wives. The next time, six month later, I complained again. The deer in the headlights came out, and nothing was said. Did you ever see the Stepford Wives? I saw the movie, and these folks were doing the same thing! I kid you not! It seemed almost like any complaints were treated that way on a regular basis. They literally said nothing! They looked at each other with what appeared to be recognition that something was said, but it appeared that nobody really understood me. Suddenly, I was speaking Yiddish or Ainu or Bikya. It was weird, unnerving, and did work to shut me up (for a while). I began wondering if I too was a part of the Stepford system. So for two years, I went on with life with an infected tooth. I tried to comment about my problem to them twice, but they didn't respond, cleaned my teeth, took X-rays, and sent me on my way with a clean dental bill of health. But it hurt, and when I told them, they didn't hear me. Stepford? Nothing at all was said about my infected tooth! Nothing! Stepford seemed to have come to Dixon! I got sicker and sicker in several ways, and I finally went to someone else to redo it. Unfortunately when a person has an infection for more than a year, there are consequences that don't seem to go away quickly. I'm still trying to deal with the health issues that the infected tooth created. I can't see a dentist that is going to ignore my problems. Ignoring an infection and allowing it to become systemic because you don't want to admit there is a problem IS a problem. Back to your regular broadcast. The staff is very pleasant--almost Stepford Wives pleasant.

I have an enormous fear of the dentist and was terrified what I was going to hear after a two year break in between cleanings but I went. Let me just say from someone who never thought they could make it through a cleaning without being sedated, this was the BEST DENTAL experience I have ever had. Hands down. The staff was also incredible! Now I will be making sure I do my cleanings every couple months! I can't believe I waited this long and this great of a dentist has been close by this whole time.
